True. As good as the Minecraft movie did at encapsulating the cringe culture that surrounds Minecraft itself, they really needed to develop more than the guy characters.

my take on the minecraft movie !

it was shit funny. funny because it's shit. you get the picture. haha chicken jockey, the nether, enderpearl. funny! made me laugh a lot, very nice and digestible.

BUT!

I was very disappointed by the characters. Jack Black and Jason Mamoa were great - but that's it. It was so sad to see such underdeveloped characters for Emma Myers and Danielle Brookes, I feel like they had so much potential, but no. Overprotective sister that can fight for some reason???? and funny black character. It was so saddening to see the female characters reduced down to stereotypes: big sister with hidden talent and funny aave use. They had like zero character development throughout the whole film and it was just so sad to see. I didn't even know their names until the end of the film.
