The Audio Rp Fandom Has A Massive Issue With Favouritism + Double Standards.

Gonna be honest, for the longest time I didn't know the asmr rp stuff had a fandom or ppl who genuinely liked it for more than spicy stuff, so as a ace person who's very neutral abt sex I'd usually only focus on the voice and then imediatly leave the video once the spicy stuff happened.

I genuinely thought I was the only one here for the VA work and commission art and not for the spicy things.

And then GBA, Yuurivoice and SytheAudios happened lol

I've never felt happier to find channels that focus more on story and less on the spicy, specially cause their spice is entirely optional too!

It was through these 3 guys i found out abt this community and I've never felt more validated in my life, finally I'm not the only one who's here for the lore!

So yeah, thank you to these silly folks for making this little ace gobling very very happy, I owe yall at least one slice of cake for this.

I still really don't get the refusal to have characters of color in ones lineup. It will never not look weird to me. Especially given that there ARE VAs with multi-racial casts (Mr. Laveau is a great example).

I feel like not wanting to be "offensive" is more of an excuse than anything else. Especially since the majority of the audios I've listened to, both narrative and one off, very rarely actually contain content that could be considered highly insensitive if the race of the character changed. Especially in fantasy worlds where the idea of race takes on new contexts.

It always reads to me like a creator (audio rp or otherwise) either is incapable of seeing POC as actual people, or has a weird inability to separate POC from our struggles. And while it IS important that we don't play into the idea of "not seeing color", and disregarding what is often very difficult and painful histories for many of us...

... Y'all do know we like, like, people shit, right? We have normal jobs, we eat food, probably go to the movies and on dates. Can and do exist in fantasy worlds. Like, I'm not saying don't do some research, like don't make a black character a monkey or a Jewish character a rat or some bs, lmao. But like, what exactly is stopping any of you, on some real shit 🤨.

Idk, it's just a weird look to me. Also, obviously, this is about creators who have characters depicted in some form of art.

Relistening to Scythe Audio’s entire works again (FOR SCIENCE!!!), and seriously, the Alpha guy (does he have a name that isn’t Alpha that I missed somehow???) is SUCH a diva. He must’ve been such a fun hang back before he went crazy.
