Not people saying “Fandom has always been like this” in that vent post I made. No. It hasn’t always been like this. Fandom has NEVER been like this until recently and if you were in fandom pre-tumblr purge, pre-twitter, pre-netflix boom, pre-tiktok….then you would fucking know it was nothing like this.

We still had the drive to create. We still sold prints and charms and made zines…but it was never like this.

The introduction of streaming, binge shows that drop all at once, tiktok and vine RIP i still love u vine but you were the beginning of a particularly ugly era) creating this bite sized, quick paced ‘content’ era of creation and it bled out into fucking everything else.

Fandoms didn’t die down when the show ended or the season was over. You didn’t mass unfollow artist, writers or moots just because they changed fandoms. There wasn’t this need to please the algorithm in order for your posts to get seen by people and enjoyed.

Fandoms used to last YEARS. Star Trek is literally the oldest running fandom out there and you got people in there that could care less about the new stuff and still have been happily prancing through their fucking fifty year old fandom today. Hell, even SPN after all it’s fuckups and shitshows has a dedicated fanbase STILL creating tons of art and fic.

There is no patience anymore. No calm feeling of taking in fandom and friends at a pace that which doesn’t make you stressed and is still fun.

Do I blame fandom for this? Of course not, but people are complacent with it and start changing their vocab to accommodate and end up making the situation so deep it cant be fixed.

We call Art & Fic Content now, completely stripping the value of what it is to a level of consumerism instead of personal entertainment & community bonding.

We’ve seen an influx of questions about how to write stories based around characters of color, disability, non-binary, etc. when the author does not fall into these categories. Rather than have these posts take over the site, we’ve decided to compile a list of resources to help our fellow writers become more educated about writing what they do not immediately know. However, this list is not the end-all-be-all of knowledge; one should always try to learn from someone with first hand experience in any topic. The world is constantly growing and changing, and because of that, there will always be more to learn. I really hate doing this but I'm desperate. My cat Grayson injured himself and cannot walk on his back legs. We went to the emergency vet today and they charged $500 and we have no answers as to what happened to him other than "it might be a spinal issue". $180 just to walk in and the rest went to bloodwork. He's on an antibiotic and steroid medication for the time being, but still needs X-rays and possibly an MRI.

Unfortunately, this visit maxed out my credit card and I cannot afford any more medical care for him, so I'm asking if you can, to please subscribe to my Patreon to help us out. I got Grayson years ago when he was nine months old, a scared little boy who came from a home with over 30 other cats. He was tiny, neglected, and terrified of everyone and everything. It took so long to gain his trust and even now, ten years later, he still has anxiety and runs and hides when scared. Help with Emergency Dental Expenses

I hate to do this again, but I need help. In a very "if I don't get the help I need I may die" kind of way.

Short story: I need to raise $6,500 to cover the other portion of my dental expenses so I'm no longer in constant pain and I don't die from my teeth eventually abscessing.

Long story: I finally got to a dentist today (July 28th, 22), and I was told I need at least half of my teeth removed because of their condition. This was the first dental visit I've had in thirteen (13) years, as my father refused to pay for them when I was a child and I only now had the ability to pay to go to one finally. The damage is done, and my top teeth need removing. That's where the whole dying part comes in.

Basically, if you're not well-versed in tooth decay and abscesses, if your back upper molars abscess, it has a good chance of spreading to your sinus cavities and then traveling to your brain, which can lead to coma, stroke, and death. The average rate of Americans dying from that was 650,000 a year last I checked. And, given I know what an abscess feels like, I don't think it'll be long before my back upper right molars abscess.

I don't want to die. I'm 23, and I've been in pain from my teeth for nearly a decade. I've not been able to bite into food with my front teeth since I was 13 or 14. The dental work I need would both potentially save my life and change it for the better.

The bill breaks down like this: Denture, full extractions, lower teeth diagnosis. Given I'm young, they want to get me a denture after I have all my top, wisdom, and one bottom molar removed, then do a bone graph so I have a chance in the future to get implants or a snap-in denture.

The full bill is $7,467. I have $1000 from CareCredit I'm putting towards it, and I have a little bit of money saved plus I'm going to tear a new one into the IRS to figure out where the fuck my state taxes are, but I need help getting the rest of it.
