when remus says that sirius always got the women, i have always read it as someone who was simultaneously amused by it and personally wronged by it, not on purpose ofc, but like maybe there was a girl he liked that had a major crush on sirius, the friend he loves but couldn’t help but feel he always had it way easier than him on lots of things.

the whole prank situation to me didn’t change significantly the marauders dynamic, but i do think it played a role in snape worst memory where we see remus getting uncomfortable with the whole situation. so there might be something in there that steams from the prank (so for me yeah, there’s is an after the prank but that’s not the point here).

back to the prank:

remus probably wrestled every month with the guilt of him turning into a dark and dangerous creature and what it would mean if he got loose near some many wizards. so him confronting the idea that he could have killed snape wasn’t news to him. if anything proved that snape it’s utterly stupid ‘cause what do you mean you got directions to confirm your long held suspicion of one of your classmates being a werewolve, something your completely sure at that point, and you still went to find him during a full moon? what, did snape expected to be the first wizard ever to tame a werewolve?? did he seriously didn’t get the fucking joke???

if anything, remus is more shaken up about james. and james it’s a little too (but not for long) because it’s implied that he got face to face with remus in his werewolve form fully aware of the risks and he didn’t fucking knew if he was getting away alive out of it (or maybe i’m being dramatic and he just pulled severus out of the tunnel lol like honestly how hard does one have to try to earn a medal for services to the school, riddle only told on hagrid, it wasn’t like he was actively saving a student).

anyway, whatever james did, he did it to protect remus, not snape or even sirius, who might have gotten into trouble as well and as we all know, he’s no stranger to getting detention.

also, did severus honestly thought he was the only one in the whole school to be aware of the situation??? are you fucking kidding me??? your suppose to be smart.

so no, that particular moment didn’t put any strain into remus relationships with his friends, not even sirius.

i mean, are we forgetting that snape tried to out remus during PoA and even then remus took the piss on him with the whole map situation?? my man doesn’t care about snape’s feelings. he’s a marauder.

i have this au in my mind where marlene and sirius break up and marls is desperate to get rid of the feeling of sirius on her body.

she needs to physically move on, so she starts dating. and while she doesn’t sleep with every guy she goes out with, that’s her main intention.

so she hooks up with the guy who’s a bad kisser and she knows it’s gonna be bad in the sack and he is, but it’s fine because at least is not sirius.

then she goes out with the guy who only fucks her and doesn’t care for her at all and again, it’s fine, because is not sirius.

then she manages to find a more stable partner over time that’s sort of good but not really and it’s fine anyway, because is not sirius.

but then, she goes with a guy with whom she finally opens up about. they talk for hours before jumping in bed and it’s going well enough, until she realizes it feels too familiar, too comfortable, too achingly tender and she can’t quite shake the feeling off. so when it ends, she can’t get away from the guy and the situation fast enough.

and suddenly she feels grief for the first time because either she’ll never feel anything good again in her life or else she will be forever haunted by the memory of sirius mark on her when she finally does.

James didn't mature for Lily It's too overused and melodramatic the way everyone says he grew up for her. War was raging outside of Hogwarts by the time he was at least 14-15 and became more prominent when he was 16-17. His parents dying was when he was around 17-18-19, and they might've gotten drastically sick and admitted to St. Mungos when James was still in Hogwarts. There was also a war going on, traitors and death eaters everywhere, along with choosing to support Remus financially and Sirius running away. I hate when people go 'he-matured-for-a-girl-who-barley-tolerated-him'. I also hate when people, anyone, says James constantly harassed her, stalked her and asked her out. That. Is. Not. Canon. Dating Lily probably wasn't even one of James' thoughts, so there's no way he would change most of his public personality just for her.

I have so many favorite hc for blackinnon, but my all-time favorite is Sirius having a bad feeling the night Marlene dies and telling her not to go home, to spend the night in his house, to stay together-- but Marlene thinks he is being paranoid and goes to visit her home, and ends up dying there with her family. I just love the idea that Sirius lives with the regret that only if he insisted more, maybe that wouldn't have happened.

uhhh interesting, cause mostly i picture her surviving in a scenario where they win the war without losing the potters. but…

judging by the letter harry found in sirius bedroom, the mckinnon’s died near harry’s birthday. so between their death and the potters are only a few month apart and in war times there’s no much time to stop and grieve. they are only allow to feel everything and actually process what happened, what they lost, after voldemort gets wiped out.

100% marlene wouldn’t have let sirius do anything stupid. at best she saves him, at worst she joins him. she’s the witness that saves him from imprisonment (she turns to dumbledore who turn to the minister blablabla he gets a fair trial, they win).

so while they trying to help each other in their griefs, because they are so young and haven’t have enough time and space to breath, i don’t think they had fully figured out every aspects of their relationship, meaning they might no be solid enough for them to endure what it means losing everything they once cared of. harry, despite everything, still goes with the durleys for his own protection.

so yeah, i think their worst character traits come to play and they cannot reconcile who they are as individuals let alone as a couple. they care for each other, ofc. in the end i think it their only option if they ever aspired to keep on each other lives.

there are certain things that you can only ever learn on your own. only distance can make understand what happened. they do evolve. they do manage to get their heads above water. and possibly reunite somewhere in the future, maybe with the whole thing of voldemort coming back, harry being in danger. he finally gets two people who knew his parents and are able to tell him all kind of stories he longed to hear.

harry, in the end, brings them together and this time, they make it.

this is exactly why i think they would’ve have drifted apart if she would’ve survived. even best case scenario where sirius isn’t related to her not being with her family, sirius doesn’t fully get it. he might have mourn who his brother might’ve turn up to be in different circumstances after he died, but it’s not the same. it’s no enough to reach to marls in the depths of her grief. and it’s not their fault ughhh.

these are a few of the top of my head:

- they have similar stories for their first kiss. marls went to a party with some of mary’s muggle friends and got to play spin the bottle. james and sirius went exploring the underground one summer and ended up in a very family oriented neighborhood and crashed a birthday party. sirius kissed the birthday girl, ofc. he then got banned from visiting the potters.

- somewhere in fourth year marls kiss sirius, caught him off guard. she just wanted to know what all the fuss was about. things didn’t change much after that.

- fifth year last day of school both marls and sirius have gone through a lot (the prank, marls got into a horrible fight lily, the whole war situation getting worse) so they hook up as means to distract themselves. surely nothing would change right? WRONG.

- cut to the hogwarts express getting back to hogwarts starting sixth year and they both get all so awkward when they bump into each other. it’s embarrassing.

- marlene wrote a few times to sirius over the summer before second and third year. nothing major, nothing relevant. except for the fact those were the only letters walburga allowed for sirius to receive and respond to (aside from peter’s). sirius thinks he secretly did, but walburga knew.

- sirius showed marls around muggle london the summer before seventh year when he went to live on his own. they were together when he bought his infamous leather jacket (secondhand as the leather is always best).

- at some point during the war when things gets worse and it might seem like they will actually lose, sirius implied a proposal to marls. he never actually said the words. they were drunk (i wrote about it i think). anyway, sirius himself diss missed it as “never mind, im drunk, i’m might die soon anyway”.

- marls couldn’t stop thinking about it and hated sirius for putting the idea in her head. she had never thought about marriage, not even after lily and james married, but it’s sirius, after all. she ends up dying instead.

- this one is sad (well, even more so). i think at some point marls had a miscarriage. again, never thought about kids and i personally don’t see blackinnon as parents ever (i project way too hard onto them im afraid), but she never tells sirius about it until they found out lily’s pregnant. marls thinks it’s an horrible idea to have a kid during a war. sirius thinks it’s fine, they’re in love, it’s meant to happen. marls crumbles right there and then after picking a fight over it with sirius.

- padfoot visited marls grave way more often that he’ll care to admit.

walburga would be caught dead before anyone ever accused her of praising a dark lord that turns out to be half-blood. the black family doesn’t have to prove themselves to anyone, they’re already well established in society. anyone knows them and knows what they stand for. sure, they share the ideas voldemort is trying to push into his followers for a new order of the world, but wouldn’t stood so low as to worship him. they’re loyal to themselves and themselves only.

but orion and walburga expected regulus to become a death eater. no they fucking didn’t. they expected, specially after what’s going on with sirius, for him to get an education, find a respectable wife, settle down, produce the next black heir and run the family business (whatever that is). regulus, meanwhile, landed in slytherin during a time all of his house mates, specially older ones, not to mention his own older cousin, are talking and praising the dark lord and how he’s gonna reward those who stand close to him. it’s a youth thing. it’s what everyone in his little bubble wants to become: a high ranking follower. and who could be higher than a black? also everyone is talking about how sirius turned out to be a big disgrace and although for their parents it’s enough with just disowning him, regulus thinks surely if i join the ranks of voldemort i could fix what my idiot brother broke, right? cause also they both think the other one it’s the idiot. the traitor.

later on regulus realizes the dark lord doesn’t care for the blacks and families like his and what they represent. but by then it’s too late and he does what he can before he dies.
