i’m so pissed cause all the actors did a great job and portrayed the characters well but the storyline was just garbage
no cause if it was anything else maybe i would be able to close my eyes and enjoy the absolute disrespect of the source material s&b did and maybe if they changed things that still respected the characters it would be fine but they didn’t. the depth of the characters have been utterly reduced to fan favourite moments lined up in a way that makes no sense. the depth of wylan and jesper’s relationship feels like it has been entirely removed in favour of them being just another side gay couple on tv. the quality and pining found in inej and kaz’s relationship is fucking nonexistent and has been replaced with tension that doesn’t make sense. the writers seem to have no real understanding of the characters or care of how they’re portrayed or else maybe this season would’ve felt less like a highlight reel of fans’ favourite parts of the duology and more like an actual coherent story that respects it’s source material. hot take apparently but an adaptation doesn’t have to be a word for word retelling of the story as long as it respects what the source material did and was trying to do along with respecting it’s characters and overall story and s&b just straight up did not do that with the crows. that’s all im saying about that, gorillaz and trigun posting will continue momentarily
Being a Cody fan and living in a different timezone is wild bc every Wednesday, we have to frantically open tumblr and check the Commander Cody tag just to see whether he’s in the new TBB episode bc we can’t watch it yet. The panic felt for those few seconds while the app loads is insane.
I’d like to give a big shout out to the writers behind this new season of Shadow and Bone. It takes some real cajones to rush a story and sink both major ships after baiting the women who drove the interest for years and then turn around and ask them to support your spin off.
oh wow holy shit they changed the story completely huh
The production quality in this show is very good and all the actors are amazing but the pacing is so so bad it just makes me want to reread the duology because every step and reveal is so well plotted
oh the turn of me going crazy to me being a hater was so swift

Okay so it wasn't horrible but I'm really kind of annoyed on how they portrayed their characters and the story lines. Also this is just my opinion I don't mean hate to any of the cast members or anything like that
First of all Mal would NEVER leave Alina like idk why but that felt really out of character for him
Also in the books, Nikolai LOVED being Sturmhond. That was his escape from everything and a way he could do what he wanted to do without having to be worried about his royal status. Again I feel like him giving up Sturmhond to Mal is just a bit weird like the whole of KoS and RoW plot lines would not be the same and if a 3rd season does happen, then they are clearly going to try and include those plot lines because of what happened with the nichevo'ya
ZOYA GOT ROBBED OF HER SCREENTIME! Zoyalai is literally endgame and I don't get how they are going to do this when they barely said a word to each other this whole season
I'M REALLY ANNOYED ABOUT WHAT THEY DID TO WESPER! Like yes I loved seeing them interact and it was honestly so cute but I feel like their relationship got severely rushed and after Jesper got over his crisis about him being durast, everything was fixed after one scene which just didnt feel right to me. Also they missed a massive amount of their story from the books by speeding up their relationship like they included plots from CK when SOC is just about to happen at the end of the season so the whole thing with Kuwei is not gonna work as well
WHY DID DAVID DIE SO EARLY?! His death was completely brushed over by the other characters and they completely jumped over key points in Genya and David's relationship and considering how David and Nikolai interact in KoS duology we got to see none of that in the show
I feel like the Kanej plot line was also really rushed as well like the hallucination didn't really make sense to me but that might just be me
I also really wished we got more Helnik in it like they did it well but its a shame it wasn't included more
I get that the show is different from the books and I'm find with that but I think they carried out some of the plot lines really badly and it would have been better if it wasn't all so rushed
I'm choosing to believe David is NOT dead until i literally see his dead body on my screen.
i do not think they could have possibly even in the worst of my dreams fucked up the ending of shadow and bone season 3 as much as they did –> completely getting rid of Alina and Mal’s characterisation, separating the crows, making it so that Alina is essentially the new darkling rather than how in the books rightfully so Alina gets stripped of her powers to show there is ALWAYS consequences for merzost and Mal and Alina getting to live together an ordinary life like they have always craved THIS IS SOME STUPID SHIT i cannot
Why do all of the crow scenes feel so watered down?? Like Kaz cleaning inej’s wounds could’ve been peak cinema. Kaz fighting for the crow club was not as much a blood battle. Kaz’s back story was not in as much detail. I missed the “I’m still alive” line that broke me. Their whole storyline being rushed. I don’t care that they changed their story, I care that it lacks the heart and impact that it did have.
13 mins into S2 of Shadow and Bone and I'm already cringing at the dialog.
BB can never do a Rex and Cody reunion cus I would simply not be strong enough to handle it
Hey everyone! I’ve got this assignment for school, and for one of the parts I need to get some statistics.
It’s about character building, and if any writers seeing this could fill out this form, I would very much appreciate it. It shouldn’t take too long.
If you’re not a writer, please don’t fill this out.
And like with polls, please share for a bigger sample size.
Where’s Cody?! Huh Dave? Where’s my sweet sunshine boy?!
i’m crying while writing for the first time ever
shit this hurts so much
Anyway Ahsoka and Cody meeting during the rebellion and being completely unable to talk about Obi-Wan because in Cody’s mind he has to be alive or else he killed him and in Ahsoka’s mind he has to be dead or else he abandoned her
42 days since we’ve seen commander cody. is he safe? is he alright?
ughhhhhh my mother is watching Revenge of the Sith rn and just TEXTED ME OUT OF THE BLUE to tell me Obi-Wan thanks Cody for handing his lightsaber back to him right before Order 66 goes out
as if I didn't already know.
mom. mother dearest. I have watched that scene in helpless terror a dozen times over, read it in hundreds of fanfics from both points of view, and gotten sad and hopeless over the nuance and tragedy of that handoff SO many times. You have no idea.
echo left for 5 minutes and they nearly died more times than i can count, marauder got stolen and they're now stuck on a planet with nothing but explosive minerals and sand, with no extra supplies and limited rations-
ECHO BABY COME BACK THEY NEED YOU

Okay. I don’t usually make serious posts, but I felt like this was something worth discussing. Now the episode hasn’t even been out a full day, and I’m already coming across a few people fretting that Tech is going to get ‘called out’ by others for being a ‘dick’ over the way he pointedly questioned Omega “what is your issue” and the way he has been at continuous loggerheads with Wrecker.
Now I know there has been a lot of ‘if’ing and ‘r’ing about the confirmation of Tech being autistic, whether it’s a canon thing or whether it’s just up for us to decide and interpret. Well I’m here to say that I think this is possibly the biggest indicator we have had for Tech most certainly having autism. A common condition that people with autism can have as a facet in their characteristics is that of alexithymia: problems with feeling/expressing emotions.
I’m no psychiatrist by any stretch of the imagination and I certainly don’t claim to speak on the behalf of every autistic person (that would actually be impossible seeing as the web of characteristics/conditions is incredibly diverse) but as an autistic person myself, I can tell you the way Tech has been acting in this episode is completely understandable and valid. It hasn’t been pleasant or very helpful for his siblings, but it is understandable nevertheless.
By nature, Tech has always favoured taking a methodical, logic-fuelled approach to situations in order to derive a conclusion/solution. He has rarely found himself caught in a situation where this approach does not yield a sure-fire course of action, where complex emotions are involved (hence why he mentions Crosshair here because this is potentially the only other situation he can liken the emotional turmoil to). It is common for alexithymic people to have outbursts of frustration when they find they cannot adequately register the intense emotions of others or in turn express their own in a way that is understandable to their peers, such as upset, grief and confusion. In lieu of Echo’s sudden leave, the whole Batch, Tech included, are probably feeling all three at this moment in time.
This explains his tendency throughout the episode to lash out and argue with his siblings, notably Wrecker, rather than take the generic, empathetic approach of talking out his emotions with them and going through the motions together (simply because as previously said, he is incapable of this). I can tell you that this must very isolating for Tech in a time more than ever when all he would want is comfort and reassurance also. This doesn’t register with the rest of the Batch because Tech’s own emotional strains are not being generically expressed due to his own separate set of neurological circumstances. Albeit they are not recognising his own internal struggles.
Tech is caring and protective of his siblings, there should be no doubts about this. He can see the impact the Empire has had on the Batch and how it has now effectively caused two of their brothers to leave the fold. Albeit, he is more than foresightful enough to see how small and fragile the Batch has become and the trepidation of this could very well all but be fuelling his frustrations. There is every chance he is experiencing his own sense of loss and abandonment through all of this, while still trying to be rational and level-headed one of the team. I believe that for the first time, we actually see Tech struggling to come to terms that he is officially out of his depth in this area and therefore is out of control in the situation, a concept very alien and disconcerting for him. Throw in a still-cognitively-developing child, a headstrong, very emotional, child-like individual with adhd and a team leader that is very prone to characterological self-blame and emotional withdrawal on the back of this, and I would say Tech has still been managing everything remarkably well, all other variables considered.
I am really glad that they are showing these characteristics to us within this dynamic where the Batch do consider each other family and therefore pull together and get through whatever crap the galaxy throws at them. It is these traits and tendencies that are projected by Tech in this episode that are a very common reason autistic people are scorned, ridiculed and segregated off by their peers irl. Even though we cannot generically express it, we deeply appreciate those that stick by us and try to understand us during periods of emotional uncertainty, disarray and stress.
It touches me to see that despite the Batch not always being able to see eye-to-eye with Tech and vice versa, they will still accept each other for who they are, quirks and all, and love each other. I only wish people could learn from this
Everyday I wake up to people mischaracterising Cody. One day of peace. That’s all I ask.
He is NICE. He is an exemplary soldier but he is also NICE. The Empire goes against everything he believes in. That’s such a vital part of who he is. He would never ever knowingly or willingly help them. Their ideals do not match up. The literal second he realised what they were really like, he got the fuck out of there (and that’s with absolutely zero clarification as to whether his chip is still working in any capacity)
He also would never intentionally hurt his brothers. Didn’t think that would have to be said but here we are. He loves them. There’s a reason even Clone Force 99 trust him. He’s a good person.
“He should’ve stayed with the Empire.”
Choose anyone else. I quite literally mean anyone else. There is no universe in which that would happen. He was genuinely close with Obi Wan Kenobi, the golden boy of the Jedi Order, and you think he would ever want to be part of a regime like that? No. It would never happen. Choose someone else. I am begging. Let him be nice.
a real conversation i just had with my friend:
me: well they’re all mister numbers, i mean fox is CC-1010 and wolffe is CC-3636
her: who gave wolffe two f’s
me: he doesn’t have two i’s so he took two f’s
Me watching The Clone Conspiracy: I hate Admiral Rampart! I want him to be arrested. I want him to reap the consequences of his actions. I want him to fail.
Me watching Truth and Consequences: wait no no not like that.
Echo joining Rex on his missions now in The Bad Batch which means they’ll be saving their brothers from the Empire which means they would be tracking down stranded/lost clones on Coruscant and maybe other planets in the galaxy which means they will eventually be saving Cody at some point.
I very briefly mentioned this in my ep 8 thoughts post the other day, but I'm interested in the framing of this shot.

The Batch are all very close together on one side of the frame, and Rex and Riyo are close on the other side. But then Echo is kind of floating in the middle. He's a little closer to the Batch but he's definitely more between the two than on one side.
Now this could mean one of two things:
1. It's symbolic of Echo moving over from the Batch to Rex while also showing that at the end of the day, no matter where he is, he will always be a part of both sides. The common thread between the two.
2. I am looking way too deeply into this and its not that important.
But that's my random thought! Do with it what you will!
nothing I love more than waking up to a bunch of new kudos and realizing that everyone spent the first day of their year reading fanfic like I did
