on this blog we do not condone rkโs katsura kogoro :) thank you. and he will never, ever, ever get a tag. i looked up katagai and it led me to kogoro and i was like uh..........................โbenevolent to kenshinโ ? in a wiki page. i am open to different intrepretations but no matter how much katsuraย โregretsโ ruining kenshinโs life even if kenshin did bring this on himself? katsura still had a hand in him bringing it down, a big, big hand. it didnโt stop him from making a 14-15 year old up until he was 19ย and then retiring from the choshu-satsuma alliance as their ultimate soldier any....less...horrifying?
anyway raise your hand if you feel katsura kogoro personally hurt our rurouni.
how is someone who literally point blank saysย โi inspire his passions and make him killโ that benevolent uhm..ย . to be honest theย โthree heroesโ iโm most fond of is okubo due to how badly history treats him but honestly....rk paints him in this really sympathetic light that i donโt have to agree with all of history to be like oh.......
but katsura makes me actually feel...i think what you call disgust. and iโm a really calm and gentle person but this is just a very foreign sensation i always pick up when i think of him oops.

give me two characters who are each otherโs home. two characters who feel completely safe, warm and protected in each otherโs presence, and who are completely respected by the other. two people who, on some level or another, were missing that little extra spark they needed to feel fully confident and accepted as their whole selves until the other came along. they donโtย โfix each otherโ orย โmake each other betterโโthey give the other the support they need to build on what was already inside them. sure they might kiss, or make goo-goo eyes, but they can also justโฆtalk, and make each other laugh and smile, because for once they feel comfortable enough in themselves and with each other to be vulnerable in that way. two complete people who finally find someone to share all of themselves with. and no matter what they do or how far they go, theyโll always have each other to come back home to.ย

Takeru Satoh - Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno (2014)
HONESTLY THIS IS SUCH A MAJOR SCENE? Maekawa speaks of the old form of kenjutsuย ย when warriors measure each other with just a glance. He does this with Kenshin and immediately the two of them begin to laugh, or from my translation of my own manga, Maekawa says this:
โ Donโt worry, Kaoru-kun. Iโve no wish to fight anymore. I can already see that Iโve lost. I gave him my fiercest glare and his eyes just let it flow away.โ
ย Basically this man, older than Kenshin - has lost to him - and not in malicious intent. Kenshin once again was presented with a powerful will, and no matter the will, his eyes just gently, like water, let them flow away - almost like the wind, he acknowledges someoneโs desire to fight him, if they have even an inkling of how powerful he is - and he lets it flow away. He doesnโt want to fight any unnecessary battles and that these two could have a stare-down is a testament to both of them but for this analysis, really, Kenshin, because it shows his depth of will and control .ย
He was offered a fight and his air-tight control and heart easily let it roll off his back. He has no desire. Heโs seen enough fighting than this man has his entire life - and adding another that has no merit save competing forย โstrength titlesโ is useless to a man who is called and feared by all as theย โstrongestโ a title he even claims to Aoshi that he can have because he has noย โneed of itโ all he cares about are the peopleย โwaiting for his help.โย
The combined imagery and how gently Kenshin states with merely his eyes how he has no desire to fight a pointless battle is testament to his character, in my opinion, and his strength of heart - enough strength that he can easily, and gently disarm someoneโs fighting intent aimed towards him with merely a glance, never losing a warriorโs respect for another.
