This is out of the blue! I am Afghan and I am currently living in Afghanistan. Today (15 Aug 2021) the Taliban entered the capital city of Afghanistan which is Kabul. The government is going to change to an Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. They ruled in Afghanistan for 5 years, 20 years ago. I've heard stories about them since I'm 19 and luckily was not yet born. And let me tell you the stories were terrifying, but they were just horror stories to me and I never thought that I'd be living under their regime, but here we are.

Let me tell you something shocking: girls can only study up to 6th grade. The future of female students in universities hasn't been decided yet. According to what I've heard they go from house to house and ask for girls and women (12 to 45 year olds) for marriage.

As they are just pieces of crap, I don't really believe that they'd let us have mobiles or use the internet. I really hope this isn't my last post in here! But if it is I want to let the world know of what they've done and what they're doing.

Don't forget us!

jinxing things isn't real. things either go well or they don't, and while you can never fully guarantee they'll go well, the chances improve along with your confidence and diligence. so, what i'm trying to say is, things are most likely to go well when you believe they will and do everything in your power to ensure that it does. things are most likely to go poorly when you believe they will and do nothing to try to change your predicted outcome, perhaps even self-sabotaging to ensure it. assuming all outcomes will be negative from the start and preemptively giving up is the real "jinx," as it is the only way to ensure a 100% chance of failure!

it can be tempting to avoid expressing hope for fear of being disappointed, but in forbidding yourself from even hoping things will go well, you inadvertently create self-fulfilling prophecies. of course, some things will always wind up going horribly, but if you keep your hopes up and keep at it, some things are bound to go wonderfully, too. start telling yourself things will go well, and see where it gets you. prepare for the worst if you must, but always hope for the best. it can be hard at first, but try to let yourself cross your fingers once in a while.

i think that's always what i've wanted to hear most: "it's okay, you've done enough, you can rest easy now—i'll take it from here"

Different ways to donate to on-the-ground Sudanese relief. Reposted by @ig/ahmadsaaid so I thought I would share. Another link I've seen spread around by Sudanese users on IG is the Sudanese American Physicians' Association non profit org (can also be found on Ahmad's profile)

I hope it gets easier for you to live in the now. To remember that you're here, in the present moment, that you're safe, even if your mind is thinking of the worst case scenario. You will overcome every obstacle when they arrive, but right now, you can rest.

We often forget the blessings of basic necessities, and suddenly they don't seem as small anymore. What we experience in this world, in our current times, is what many of our brothers and sisters had been facing for years; no education, no work, no income, no freedom, no peace.

I started this fundraiser last year during my first Ramadan. A small goal of mine to achieve and a reminder to do good not only in this blessed month, but throughout the year. But something that I didn’t do, was to promote it enough. ‎I humbly ask of you for a small favour, that إن شاء الله may we reach this small target. Whether you donate or simply share, these charitable acts will be remembered. ‎جزاك الله خير

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ : "When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased)."

«ʾIstiġfār»

«ʾIstiġfār»

The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said:

"Whoever clings to ʾIstiġfār then Allāh will make for him a way out of every anguish, and release him from every distress, and He will provide for him from where he did not expect."

beep beep sometimes when you have been in survival mode for a long time the parts of you dedicated to Wanting Things atrophy and you forget how to envision a future that feels rewarding because you are busy with the business of staying alive, and it can seem like your life must be pointless because you can’t imagine any long term goals. sometimes even when you leave survival mode you can’t remember how to Want Things. that doesn’t mean you need to give up on having a good and fulfilling life, it just means that Wanting Things is a muscle you need to gradually strengthen. the part of you that has dreams and aspirations is still there, it just fell asleep, but if you wiggle it enough it can and will regain feeling. it’s okay to start small
