So what are your favorite shadow media (pulps, comics, radio, etc)?
My favorites aren't really a mystery. It's generally listed in my bio / intro post / whatever tf shows up first and that ✨️ recommendations post ✨️
The og pulp magazine run is my main Shadow medium. It's where The Shadow's actual character was created and it's the reason I prefer the pulp. He is literally described as creature, a force of nature. The father of horror and heroes. Just a living black mass, descibed as a living dark tornado. It makes hell noises, it chirps with differing vibrations that pops nerves. A human head with eyes in some descriptions actually creates illumination.
Another big reason is its writing format. This shit actually has me reading. I hate reading. Still very much do that has not changed. This is the one exception because its format is more suited to my needs. Shorter stories + perfect length chapters while having just the right amount of content to not have your brain completely swamped.
The Shadow 1994 was my introduction so there will forever be a bias regardless of quality. Why i love this movie could be it's own post entirely so I'm gonna keep it simple
look at this thing.
Like seriously what is that why is it funny.
I love it more after reading pulps because of the written whiplash you get. Like its the most teenage fanfic shit ever and it's incredible. Very imperfect, does a lot of things wrong, a little cringe but still a fun movie that's ahead of its time. The comic adaptation is also really good (and actually better lmao.)
To be old man yelling at cloud I've not looked too much into comics, at least after 1994. Ignorance / Just too focused on the two things above. In The Coils of Leviathan is my favorite I guess "modern" comic. To quote from my recommends it's the closest thing to newer pulp story down to The Shadow character and story structuring (Shads not being a central figure, him being generally silent until the end where he explains his findings, supernatural fronts etc.) Absolutely incredible artwork, moments that will leave you in awe, a sinister monster, and The Shadow being a mythical badass.
Death of Margo Lane is my favorite modern modern comic that I've read so far. The best portrayal of him going mental that isn't stupid. Matt Wagners art is also really good. Probably my favorite current Shadow artist.
Sending in the cops to put down student protesters--err I mean Hamas terrorists
The brain does not magically mature at 25. Actual neuroscientists note some 8-year-olds even have a greater "maturation index" than 25-year-olds. The myth misunderstands basic neuroscience but is still used for anti-trans policymaking like the Cass Report. https://slate.com/technology/2022/11/brain-development-25-year-old-mature-myth.html

Sally is going through a rough time right now, but fortunately she has a partner who has a sixth sense for when she needs some TLC. Still, not everyone has that luxury… so always be sure to be kind to one another, and reach out when you need it.

I humbly suggest that true crime freaks should get into learning about scammers instead of serial killers. I LOVE reading about fraud and grifts and pyramid schemes. true crime ppl have all this paranoid energy about murder, which is rare in the grand scheme of things.....maybe instead that could be channeled into some productive rage toward capitalism.
