The problem isn't the construction workers who want to be compensated for their labor. The problem is the capitalists who hoard homes for profit.
The problem isn't the medical workers who want to be compensated for their labor. The problem is the CEOs who hoard medical care for profit.
Those who say that housing or medical care are a human right are not saying that the workers should be forced to work for free. They're saying that it shouldn't be hoarded for profit. If the only costs were the materials and labor, it wouldn't be anywhere near as expensive as it is now.
"The left" are always saying to tip your servers. "The left" are always saying to pay for artists with money and not with "exposure". "The left" are always saying that workers should be paid a living wage. Clearly it's not "the left" devaluing people's labor.
For the humans that still have a heart, humans are burning and children are being beheaded from airstrikes in a sea of burning tents in Rafah. 40 fake beheaded babies got more sympathy and care then real Palestinian babies who have been beheaded for the past 8 months from brutual airstrikes. No words left.

i cannot keep quiet about this anymore.
if you're in the US or Canada and interested in learning a language using a free app please get a library card and download MANGO. it's very good and extremely free with a library card (there are many public libraries and universities using the service, so make an account and use the search feature here to find out if there's one near you).
mango currently has 72 available languages and dialects (that's right! different courses for french or canadian french! spanish or latam spanish!). it's set up basically like an audiobook with text. the idea is that the narrator explains the words while you read, and you repeat after them or say the translation out loud when prompted. there's a daily review where you go through flashcards. you can also use the flashcards at your leisure and create your own. at the end of each chapter there's a listening comprehension quiz and a reading comprehension quiz. i cannot emphasize how effective this all is. and it's free with a card.
if you're not in the US or Canada and/or looking for something more like duolingo (don't use duolingo btw tldr they fired translators and replaced them with "ai"), then try BUSUU! it only has 14 languages atm but the lessons are really descriptive and effective. it also has a feature where you can correct other people's open-ended speaking/typing exercises. you set your fluent languages, and exercises by people learning those languages will appear in your feed for you to correct. you can even add others as friends! and, much like duolingo, it has a streak and leaderboard system for you to strive for, minus the guilt-tripping owl.
busuu is free (you watch ads to unlock lessons and they're all skippable after like five seconds), although it also has paid premium/plus versions (i don't use the paid versionâthe language courses are available for free, and the ad system is Really unobtrusive).
so that's my wisdom for the day. mango and busuu. please check them out :)

This is why I have zero sympathy for Brian Thompson.
Dean Obeidallah at The Dean's Report:
Weâve never seen a presidential administration weaponize government to the extent of Donald Trump--both by rewarding his supporters and punishing his âenemies.â And what we saw Monday sums it up perfectly. Trump had his DOJ arrest a Democratic member of Congress on BS charges of assaulting an ICE officer while he rewarded the family of MAGA terrorist Ashli Babbitt--who was killed while storming the Capitol on Jan. 6--with $5 million of your tax dollars. This should make your blood boilâbecause it makes mine! The arrest of New Jersey Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver is as House Democratic leaders led by Hakeem Jeffries wrote in a statement, âextreme, morally bankrupt and lacks any basis in law or fact.â The charge arises from the May 9th visit by herself and two other New Jersey members of Congress to an ICE facility in Newark. A scuffle broke out when the ICE agents suddenly arrested Newark Mayor Ras Baraka for allegedly trespassing. Videos show McIver being pushed by ICE agents and saying on video about one agent, âHe just assaulted me.â There is also video of incidental contact between McIver and an armed ICE agent in tactical gear.
After the incident, Trump officials went on TV claiming that McIver âbody slammedâ an ICE agent and the video would back that up. It did notâthat was a lie. Yet Trumpâs US Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba gleefully claimed on Monday McIver had âassaulted, impeded, and interfered with law enforcementâ and charged her with a federal crime. This is not the first fabricated charge by the Trump regime versus a Democrat. On Monday, Habba dropped the trespassing charge against Mayor Baraka, claiming it was âfor the sake of moving forward.â In reality, as the evidence showed, Baraka was arrested on public property outside the ICE facility. You canât trespass on public propertyâespecially when youâre the Mayor of the city! The arrest of McIver follows an alarming pattern from convicted felon Trump over his first four months of utilizing the power of the federal government to target his critics and perceived enemies. Weâve seen Trumpâs rogue regime arrest a judge in Wisconsin and the Mayor of Newark, begin a criminal investigation into NY Attorney General Tish James plus threaten to prosecute the Mayor of Chicago and the governor of New Jersey. Trump and his minions have also opened formal investigations into media outlets critical of him, the Democratic fundraising platform Act Blue, law firms, universities, people who used to work in the Trump regime but refused to lie that the 2020 election was stolen and more. As Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ)--who was with Rep. McIver at the ICE facility --told me last week, she expected Trump to charge her or McIver. Not because either did anything wrong but because as she noted the Trump regime is âout of controlâ with their âweaponization of law enforcement.â She rightly warned, âno one is safe form this administration.âÂ
Somethingâs not adding up here: The Trump DOJ goons ordered the bogus arrest of Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) while giving a $5M reward to the family of the late domestic terrorist Ashli Babbitt.

Some good news to start your week: Last year, London anti-fascist S. was charged with "assault" for his role in preventing Immigration officers from kidnapping refugees that they intended to dump in Rwanda, despite ample witnesses and video evidence showing that the person being assaulted was S. himself by those very same Immigration officers! S. had to hire a solicitor to fight the charges. The International Anti-Fascist Defence Fund, along with S.'s friends, put together the fund to hire a decent one. Last week, S. had his trial and was found not guilty on all charges! This is yet another example of how important the work of The Defence Fund is in ensuring that anti-fascists are properly defended in the courts. Please help us ensure that anti-fascists are always able to vigorously defend themselves against false charges - make a contriubtion to the Defence Fund today!
"White male conservatives want to be oppressed so badly."
This isn't true at all.
If they're working class, they're oppressed by the rich.
Many of them could easily be neurodivergent in some way but undiagnosed.
Very likely a majority of them were abused by their parents.
So if they wanted to be oppressed, they most likely already are. They could easily speak out against their actual experiences with oppression.
What they want isn't to be oppressed. What they want is the feeling of victory over oppression without actually having to experience the oppression. Fighting back against the ways that they're actually oppressed would be hard work, would be met with massive opposition, ridicule, and possibly even violence, and would be an ongoing battle that only once in a blue moon results in victory. But if they claim to be oppressed as a white man, then they can feel victorious whenever they see a woman or a person of color suffering.
