i see you in the motorcycles that crash and who am i kidding? i dont see you, i never have i dont even know what you look like all i see is the mangled body they carry into the ambulance and i know that is you, that was you, that it'll be me i know it by the way their faces drop, that we are similar in the worst of ways i wade into the waters at the docks and hope there's still part of you left to mourn but there never is, and there never will be i sob next to the ruins of what once was you because this is the best i will get i cannot mourn people i did not know, hell, i can hardly mourn those i did, but i can see your blood shining in my reflection at the gas station and it makes me wish we were similar in the way we smile and not in the way we will always lose what we love.

text reading: Generations Of A Liar i. Silver sheets and silk fabrics. Hands soft and nimble, the comfort of sweet lavender and rosemary beads. Will they ever know? Will they ever notice how often the door is locked? Petals that overflow to cover rotting buds. Eggshells that have been smashed and reconstructed a million times over. ii. Have you ever heard of the boy who cried wolf? How many skeletons are you hiding in your skin? Whose teeth are those? Are they your own or the you from 3 years ago's? How many times have you uttered a name that isn't yours from those lips? How many times have you dug her grave? Will you ever let her body rest? iii. Prophet festering under industrial light. Can you taste the ink in your mouth? Do you still beg for purity? Does it still hurt? Have the whispers subsided or has the wound deepened? How do you feel now? It is you who trained the lambs to tear the flesh that mistreats them; do you expect to stay whole?

You're on a sinking plane. A skeleton on a fish hook. Scrubbing the blood stains off the kitchen tiles. You're everything. It will all go sideways for you soon. But you're everything. Let's start again. You're dying from the outside in. Your brother noticed it before you did. He doesn't know how to help so you ended up staying the night at his and smoking on the roof together. You want to fall asleep up there & you tell him so & he doesn't say it but he is scared what you really want is to jump. He noticed it before you did. Can you link the stars in a way that makes you feel something? You could when you were a kid. Actually, did you feel something then? Take another cigarette when he goes back inside. He won't notice. Maybe he will. What I should say is he won't talk about it. It's Tuesday again. God. You drive your car like you're the hostage, the man gagged in the back, the body in the trunk. You take turns where you shouldn't. You see your blood seeping through the seats. You're meeting with your mother for lunch and you are sick & scared & tired. Outside the café there's an angel hanging limp in the power lines; a boy and his sister throw stones at it. Keep walking. You can't stop them. Lunch is nothing special and you leave with bleeding nails. You're dying from the outside in. Remember that. This is your life & you are cigarette ash. But you're everything. You still have time. Let's start again.

i know this (i wish i didn't) i am constantly choking, drowning trying to claw my way through the dirt like something half formed there is something in my throat and i can't get it out one day it'll kill me i know this, i wish i didn't i wake up on boats that no longer exist and can do nothing but sink under i will be just like them and there will be nothing i can do at least, not anymore one day it'll kill me I know this, i wish i didn't
