Daily Check-in: May 20, 2024 ๐
omg it'd almost the end of May, what the heck? I'm so excited, I leave to Colorado for my 8 weeks of work very soon and I can't wait! it's going to be such a cool experience being in a new place for a while!
Monday was a good day. My dad and my boyfriend both think I overdid it on the physical exertion a bit, and I agree. I took a long walk, outside, in 95 degree heat, with no sunscreen. Which is why they said I overdid it because my chest and shoulders are sooooo sunburnt. But Monday was amazing! Started off strong, ended not as strong but still good!
๐ฉท What I Accomplished:
~13k+ steps for the day
took an hour and a half long walk outside(it was amazing, I loved it, I stayed hydrated ans soaked up all the sunlight and fresh air)
completed a 30 min beginner pilates workout from Move with Nicole
did my morning journaling and gratitude
wrote down a positive quote of the day and read through my journal where I wrote down some things that I want to read daily
read and "annotated" 14 pages of Atomic Habits
took a 20 minute power nap
worked a ~6.5 hour shift
drank at least ~80oz of water (that's pretty good given I used to drink like 20oz a day and wonder why I never felt good)
took my two medications + vitamin D supplement
took a cool shower and washed my hair at the end of the day
went to sleep early!
๐ Good Things That Happened
my friend and a supervisor im close with complimented my appearance in a way that gave me a confidence/motivational boost
my other friend and I decided we're probably getting our nails done together next week
that same friend ^ and I are going to go shopping next week as well
my work is going to schedule me where I can still go to brunch with my dad on Friday!
my man starts his first day of work on Tuesday (I'm so excited for him! It's gonna suck not being able to text him all day, but I'm so proud of him for getting this job and all the progress he's made)
got complimented on how efficient I was at work by the night shift supervisor
ate goods that made me happy without feeling guilty or anxiety about it
๐ What Could've Gone Better
I over ate a bit at night after work and felt kind of bloated and sick when I went to bed. it's okay tho, things happen, and Tuesday is a new day <3
super sunburnt!!!! my chest and shoulders are bright, bright red! and I'm a naturally pretty tan person, so seeing my skin that red, yep, I'm definitely super burnt! need to wear sunscreen and protective clothes when I take a shorter walk on tuesday
I definitely overdid it on that walk. got too overzealous and pushed myself a lot. my legs were hurting so bad by the end of the day and that's not good. as much as I enjoyed the walk, I need to be so much more kinder to and thoughtful of my body. it does a lot for me, and I need to treat it right <3

begin studying Spanish some more (fell off the habit but I have a lesson next Tuesday the 28th, so I need to be prepared!)
do some gentle morning and night skincare (my face is a little red from yesterday but not too bad since I wore a hat during my walk)
do my morning beginner pilates and gratitude journaling (I've already done these as of right now, but I struggled with the so-called "beginner" pilates video from IsaWelly. practice makes perfect, tho so I've got to keep consistent!)
book nail appointments with my friend for next week (hopefully the nail tech/nail salon I go to has availability for her and I to go together! I also need to pick the design i want!)
budget for this upcoming paycheck and what I need to save vs what I'm going to spend (and need to buy)
work a ~5 hour shift
talk to my man over video call at the end of the day to see how work/training went for him (it's his first day of work, but it's a hands on training kind of day for him as well)

Tuesday was so so so so soooooo tiring omg. It's Wednesday and I'm still recovering from how exhausting Tuesday was. It was a good day, but geesh I'm so happy I'll have time off from school and work soon.

There was some good yesterday, and definitely some bad. One of my favorite supervisors said he's quitting at the end of this semester (3 days), and I'm so sad because he was genuinely good at his job but I understand that his bosses weren't the best and the management at our job is overall crappy most times. But hopefully, my other favorite supervisor doesn't quit tho i know she feels the same, too. There's a reason I'm getting a 2nd job right now.

Day 22-24: 90 Day Challenge ๐
I have been so busy the last few days. A final and an 8 hour work shift on Wednesday, a 6 hour work shift and a 4 hour serving shift for my class on Thursday and a 10 hour work shift today.
Consider this my update for today and tomorrow I will be back to our regular posts! I apologize. Life got to life-ing! But I made it out the other side of my semester so I'm so happy I final get this break!

Day 11 - 90 Day Challenge ๐
Yesterday (11-25) was kind of productive? I ended up working a 5 hour shift at my job instead of the 8 hour one I was supposed to which by no means upset me because I still made money either way. I tried to get some stuff done beforehand but I honestly just took the morning for rest. I also go back to work this morning as well so I'm really happy to get back to routine.

took a 30+ minute walk around campus before I had to go to work
walked 9778 steps total
ate a really good salad with tomato, cucumber, romaine, shredded carrots, and balsamic vinegrette. (who knew balasamic vinegrette was so yummy!)
drank half a liter of essentia electrolyte water
stopped eating breakfast when I was comfortably satisfied and didn't push past my limits
ate 2 servings of fruit + 1 serving of almonds + 1 serving of cashews (so yummy, cashews and almonds for the win)

Yesterday was a good day for sure. Today, my goals are to make it through my work shift, complete my reflection paper that's due tomorrow night, drink one liter of essentia electrolyte water, answer a journal prompt, and set myself up for tomorrow morning (I have a 730am class on Mon and Wed, so I gotta be up bright and early tomorrow!)
My Mondays are always so busy. Here's a little breakdown for those who are curious:

Ahhhh today was such a phenomenal day omg. I had a really good, mostly productive day today and I'm so happy. I still need to work on my eating and nutrition and stop letting my hotel roommate talk me into late night munching, but everything else is going so good.

35 minutes full body strength workout
30 minute treadmill walk (2.5 speed, 3.0 Incline for 19min, 3.0 speed, 3.0 Incline for 11min)
put away all my clean laundry
had a 30 min korean trial lesson on italki (loved it, love the teacher, she's awesome)
planned out my language studies and budget moving forward
booked an appointment to get my nails done once I'm back home in mid August (gonna get medium acrylics, coffin shape with a mocha brown French tip, I'm so excited)
napped for about ~3 hours, i think? I've been really tired recently
did my night time skincare routine for the first time in a week
did my night time gratitude journal, also for the first time in a while
studied Korean for about 75 minutes (not counting the italki lesson!!)
got homework from my italki teacher, super excited to work with her

I think Iโm doing so good in Korean because Iโm constantly watching things in Korean and exposing myself to the language.
1. K-pop
Iโm such a big K-pop fan and it really helps my learning process. If I didnโt enjoy K-pop I donโt think Id be able to comprehend half of what I can today.
I watch a lot of โvlogsโ from my favorite idols. (My fav to watch are LE SSERAFIMโs vlogs, theyโre just really easy for me to understand and entertaining at the same time).
ATEEZ is always doing something and theyโre my ult group so Iโm just constantly watching them. Recently though I havenโt been watching their stuff so I have a lot to catch up on ๐
The music makes no sense to me because obviously song lyrics arenโt written in conversational everyday Korean so I donโt even really count that as listening comprehension. Every now and then Iโll catch a word I know and get shocked though ๐
I used to watch V-lives or whatever theyโre called now a lot but I canโt focus for that long anymore. (๋ฐ์ฑํ has the best lego lives)
2. K-Dramas
I donโt watch as many dramas as some people but I feel like theyโve definitely helped me get used to listening to Korean.
I try not to take any phrases or vocab from dramas because itโs a dramaโฆ and theyโre dramatic ๐ญ
I started watching Business Proposal like a month ago but I got distracted with exams and I stopped watching it with 2 episodes leftโฆ (SPOILERS: istg if ํ๋ฆฌ and ํ๋ฌด donโt stay together Iโm giving up on everything)
3. Korean Cartoons
I LOVE Learn Korean with Jadoo. I barely understand any of it but itโs helped me a lot with understanding how certain grammar points are used and how certain words are used.
I also like watching Peppa Pig in Korean because the episodes are short and sweet and theyโre relatively easy to understand.
I used to watch We Bare Bears in Korean but I watched like every episode they had on YouTube so now Iโm rewatching in Spanish. (I genuinely love We Bare Bears, itโs always been the best cartoon out there)
4. Korean News
I like to read a lot of Korean news to help with pronunciation and reading comprehension. It also allows me to find some more specific vocabulary that I would use in describing what I do, what I like, and what I want to do in my future because I can find real stories that are specific to my interests.
5. ASMR
Soy ASMR and Seonghwas ASMR videos have been single-handedly holding my life up. Judy ASMR is also a really good creator. I like to watch like roleplay ASMR like โfriend does your makeup for a partyโ or whatever because it exposes me to more casual vocabulary.
1. Classes
I do take Spanish classes at school so I get over and hour of Spanish immersion in while at school everyday. We mainly use Spanish in the classroom.
2. Spanish Documentaries
Iโm a bit more advanced in Spanish than I am in Korean so I prefer to watch Documentaries as to cartoons.
Documentaries also interest me more than cartoons in some aspects like learning more about different latin cultures, hearing different accents and dialects, and learning about how other people live.
3. Cartoons
I only really watch We Bare Bears in Spanish because I just like the show, but sometimes Spanish feels like a chore to me or like Iโm just learning it to pass a class at this point, so cartoons are a good way to just casually comprehend the language.
4. Spanish News
I found this really good Spanish news for kids website and itโs so incredibly helpful. Iโm in the process of making a โSpanish Resourcesโ blog post like I did with Korean so Iโll definitely link that there.
I read the articles out loud to help get more comfortable with speaking, reading and my pronunciation.
They also have a podcast thatโs just like a read aloud of the article so after I read the article, I go and listen to the podcast.
The topics are really interesting, too. Like one of them was about this lady bringing her pet pig to the airport to help calm people down??? I wanna go pet a pig wdym????
6. Spanish music
There are no words in the English language to express how much I love Spanish music.
Itโs literally just so beautiful.
In class we have broken down various songs, so I can understand music very easily unlike in Korean even if I have to think about the lyrics for a bit.
7. Spanish YouTube videos/ASMR
I watch a lot of โun dรญa en mi vidaโ type videos and I love ASMR so I watch a lot of those. ๐

I have been MIA for a while now, and thatโs because life has been absolutely bonkers lately. Hereโs a quick breakdown:
> my financial habits have been terrible, Iโve been able to afford rent but havenโt been saving or paying off debts at all and itโs driving me crazy but Iโm trying to teach myself better habits
> because of my lack of financial skills, I will NOT be taking classes next semester. I owe about 1,800$ USD to my university and wonโt be able to register anyways with that high of a balance
> someone who I thought was a good friend turned out to not be and Iโm dealing with the aftermath of a hurtful friendship breakup
> because of said friendship breakup, a few people at work have been borderline bullying me for no reason and itโs made me cry and have lots of anxiety at work, has also affected several work friendships in a negative way so Iโm pretty much done trying to be friends with people at work
> my roommates and I resigned our lease so Iโll be living with them for this year and next thankfully! I love my rooommates, they are truly good people
> I still havenโt seen my boyfriend in person since January 1st but weโre trying to find time and the finances to get me out to cali to see him hopefully in December
> I started working out again and upped my medication by 2mg and the difference has been immense, I feel so much better, more clear, more like myself and overall just happier and more content
> Iโve stalled in studying Japanese, havenโt put much of any effort towards it lately but want to restart asap as I have a Japanese lesson in 2ish weeks
so, thatโs the breakdown. It doesnโt seem like a lot, but believe me, itโs been insane. October has been a crazy month. Iโm hoping to get back to it soon and overall start living my life to the fullest again. Will be making an updated post of goals to accomplish by the end of the year so stay tuned for that!

are you really sensitive to caffeine? i can have an espresso at 11 pm and be asleep by midnight
I take a medication for my health that if I don't take it, 2 cups of coffee sends my anxiety spiraling. If I do take it, I can have 4 cups up until 7pm and still be asleep by 9/10pm. I'm not super sensitive to caffiene by any means, but because I have anxiety, I have my limits with how much I consume.
Colorado Goals ๐
I've been in Colorado for 2 weeks, meaning I have 6 weeks left! Here are some of the goals I hope to achieve while here, now that I have a better understanding of my time and what activities I want to do out here!
consistent workout routine; minimum 3 days a week
minimum of 8k steps a day
morning and night gratitude journaling
morning and night skincare
use the hot tub once a week
go hiking at least once
start studying languages again (Spanish + Japanese)
cut back on my caffiene consumption, 1 cup a day maximum
try some new restaurants if financially possible
pay off rent and fees for upcoming move + current place I live back home
go to the hot springs (maybe....they kinda scare me)
maybe try a workout class in town (pilates, yoga, etc)
that's all I can think of for now! I will update thus list if anything pops up in my head for while I'm here! I'm only here until August 14th, and it's about to be July! How crazy!! I can't believe I've been here 2 weeks. It's seriously flown by. Honestly timento buckle down and do some new things!
