A New Animal Was Unveiled: The Javan Tiger. This Is Great News. The Javan Tiger Was Declared Extinct

A new animal was unveiled: the Javan Tiger. This is great news. The Javan Tiger was declared extinct in 2008, and there has been no sight of the animal since 1975. However, a single hair found near a plantation in Java matches 96% with a pelt of a Javan Tiger held in a museum, giving us hope that this population might not be extinct.

Fraser's Dolphin Lagenodelphis hosei Family: Delphinidae Genus: Lagenodelphis Status and Conservation: Least Concern This dolphin species was first identified in 1895 when a skull was discovered on a Borneo beach. The skull was later donated to the British Museum, where Scottish zoologist Francis Fraser determined that...

It stands out as one of the oldest, most stable, and most widely distributed among the modern rhinoceros species. Unfortunately, human actions have significantly threatened their previous success and led to a decline in their populations.

Pygmy Hog

Pygmy Hog

This is the smallest species of the family and sadly one of the most endangered species as well.

This hog is the sole representative of Porcula, making its conservation even more important, as its extinction would result in the loss of a unique evolutionary branch of pigs.

The destruction of its habitat has been its main problem, reducing its viable population in to the Manas National Park. However, even there threats as livestock grazing, poaching, fires and natural predators persist. The total wild population has been estimated in less than 150 animals.

Check out my store here.  Follow my blog about Species, here.

The last male, named Sudan, passed away in 2018 due to age-related complications. With Sudan's death, this species is functionally extinct and now relies on various assisted reproductive techniques facilitated by humans.

Working On This One Took Me Forever. I’m Very Happy With The Result Though Because I Wanted A Pose

Working on this one took me forever. I’m very happy with the result though because I wanted a pose that portrays the animal with majesty and power.

Bengal Tiger

If you ever saw a tiger, 90% of the chances are that you saw a Bengal Tiger. It is the most famous and probably the one that has inspired us the most. The versatility that the tiger has to propel the imagination of humans is unmeasurable. From a cruel villain to a magnificent god, its charisma and beauty have made us dream for centuries, and are now just part of the whole human culture, regardless of nationality.

It is also the popular white tiger which is nothing but a lack of melanin, the pigment in charge of giving us color. Less popular but equally magnificent and extremely rare is the golden tiger which can be seen just in captivity. A problem! if you ask me because this means that has been humanly altered genetically to get the color. There is also the black tiger, which is not completely black. Its black stripes are thicker making the orange color less visible. However, there are some reports stating that completely black tigers have been spotted in the wild. No photographs have been taken though.

India primordially is its homeland but now it can also be seen more often than in the wild in the backyards of United States homes. __________________________________________________ Credits: Felids and Hyenas of the World: Wildcats, Panthers, Lynx, Pumas, Ocelots, Caracals, and Relatives.  Dr. José R. Now It’s The Time For The Less Glamorous Horse’s Cousins, The Ass. An Animal That Shockingly Is Doing

Now it’s the time for the less glamorous horse’s cousins, the Ass. An animal that shockingly is doing way worst than horses in terms of conservation and yet this really have had to do the dirty job. While the horse is exhibit proudly as a man companion and sometimes an extension of human’s soul, the Ass, on the other hand is like the one that is better not to be shown and the one in charge of the hardest and dirtiest jobs. Incredibly this obvious disparagement is reflected as well in its quantity due that from the four subspecies that exist, one is extinct and the other two are close to suffer the same fate.

Nonetheless, ass as regarded as stupid animals and are usually portrayed as such, nonetheless is an animal that is close in intelligence to the horse, if not the same. Besides, they are excellent mothers and can defend their offspring furiously. An animal to keep an eye on, to care and value as another really important animal that was crucial in the evolution of humanity. More love for this misunderstood animals, please.

Nubian Wild Ass: Believed extinct in the wild, some estudies of DNA were done to a feral population living in the Caribbean island of Bonaire (Keep in mind that this animal is from Africa) The DNA results were positive as a nearly pure DNA of the believed extinct Actual Nubian Wild Ass. Although further studies need to be done, give a little of hope to the survival of this animal. Somali Wild Ass: The fate of this animal was saved by a project in the Zoo of Basel in Switzerland, that has been able to keep the captive animals in a robust number.

Atlas Wild Ass: Extinct in 300 AD, this animal was used in the roman circus and hunting. It is estrange that many animals with the name “Atlas” on it, has been extinct as we will see further.

Donkey: A new friend to take care of and be grateful.

PD. My next family will be the camelidae, so if you know about this family or have good pictures of them, you are very welcome to help me with this investigation. Thanks! Also, happy new year, more posters in my store: Here

Greater Mouse Deer With This Animal, I Introduce You To The Last Genus Of The Family (Tragulus) And The

Greater Mouse Deer With this animal, I introduce you to the last genus of the family (Tragulus) and the one with the most members of the whole family (5). Classification can be a little bit confusing and I'm still learning.

For now, I can tell that this family (Tragulidae, commonly known as Mouse Deer) is composed of ten members that are classified into three different genus. I wish scientists explain things in an easier way. For sure, more people would get involved. Anyway, this is the largest Mouse Deer of the genus, closely matched by Williamson's mouse-deer (which we will be talking about soon). Also nocturnal and solitary as its relatives. It is widespread in Indonesia and part of Southeast Asia.

Its status is stable, however, loss of habitat and hunting are their main threats. if you have something to add, Awesome!. I'm not an expert so anything that can enrich the post is very welcome. *Photo Reference Credits: ronnienl
