✦❤✦ THE KICKSTARTER FOR AGENTS OF THE REALM HIT ITS FUNDING GOAL ✦❤✦
Gosh gosh gosh!! Thank you all SO MUCH for your support so far!! Last night the Kickstarter managed to hit it’s initial funding goal of 17K! The kickstarter campaign, however, is still running and will remain running until March 2nd so I’ve got LOTS of stuff planned for the extra funds to go towards!
Are you looking for an easy way to show your Magical Girl pride? If the Kickstarter hits 20K, I’ll be getting 1.5″ Enamel metal pins made so you can let the world know exactly how magical you are!
If the Kickstarter passes that…
Everyone who pledges in the tiers $50 and above will get a chance to upgrade in order to get their hands on limited edition prints made by these wonderful artists! I was lucky enough to get @wscottforbes, @quantumqstar and @mattahan to agree to create absolutely gorgeous artwork in honor of Agents of the Realm. I’ve been getting peaks at the works done so far and let me tell you, you’ll definitely want to get your hands on them!
From there, the funds will be going towards making the book even more shiny and magical than it already is!
Hitting 40K means everyone who pledged in $30 or above gets their softcovers upgraded to be foil embossed!! Talk about a perfectly fitting upgrade.
And the last stretch goal is a Foil Hardcover Upgrade available for everyone who pledged in tiers $50 and above!
The campaign still has 22 days left! Let’s keep this ball rolling!
grabendolch said: Hey there, what’s that second tool panel just next to your taskbar? it looks like it’s from some art program but not a part of SAI
It's called Paint Dock, it's for slate PCs (samsung series 7 & asus eee slate) to make drawing programs actually useable. I have spent... a while... since getting my eee slate trying to basically work as something where I can be a couch potato digital artist :p WHICH REMINDS ME I did intend to properly review the computer. At least a little :p
Downside is that the harddrive is seriously 64GB. I bought a 120GB to replace it with but I'm not quite ready to bust open a $1k machine yet!! I did get a 128GB sd card for it though (yes they totally make those now!) which is enough to cram all my art-related stuff on so I'm good. The other downside is that the drivers are REALLY fussy and it took ages for me to get pressure sensitivity working properly and across different programs. I got it working in SAI and Photoshop, I haven't got it to work with Inkscape though I don't want to mess with it anymore. A few times I lost pressure sensitivity at the drop of a hat and the last time I spent FOUR HOURS uninstalling and reinstalling drivers to get it working again UGH. I was able to carefully write down all the steps I took this time so hopefully that will do the trick. The pressure curve utility makes it good enough for painting, it only has 250 levels of sensitivity compared to 2000+ on the intuous tablets but so far it's been good enough for me. My hand gets crampy a little more often due to having to press a bit harder (less sensitive means its harder to get really really light strokes) but I think with tweaking the settings a bit further I can get that a little better too!
The other other downside is that the MSRP is $1000 but for the most part it's only available for $1400, I got super lucky and it was $1k at the microsoft store but it's not anymore last I checked (plus getting it thru them it came with win7 ultimate and no bloatware!). It's definitely worth it at that price... at the higher price ehhhh, I'D still have bought it but that is what being a couch potato digital artist is worth to me XD becase it's basically a laptop w/o a keyboard it is a TRUE digital sketchbook that is fast enough to run photoshop! So yeah. it's awesome.
I saw this markers caddy at the craft store (Michaels) and immediately wondered if I could use it for not-markers... yes! Its a lil pricey but I got it on sale, and because I do crafts all over the place it was getting annoying to shuffle all my most used tools around in various bins and cans... Tombow makes this organizer too but it's 3 sections instead of 4, but it miiiight be more accessible if you can't shop at a Michaels. The inserts are removeable so I took one out to fit scissors, rotary cutter, brand new 20-32awg wire crimper (received in mail today YAY). I also have some squishy silicone brush holding trays (you can find em by searching for makeup brush holders on ebay or aliexpress) and THOSE inserts fit in there too! Perfect for smaller tools like tweezers and lead holder for my chalk pencil. I LOVE TOOLS. Swipe to the end to see the state of my desk and why I took photos of this on my bed :p https://www.instagram.com/p/B3XaDz3jGbk/?igshid=4nldle1icrsg
I'm not sure why I want to talk about this so much but I DO so I'm gonna.
Saw Robocop the other night, immediately understood why it flopped but holy crap I really enjoyed it ok?? I know most people are basically disgusted by remakes out of some sense of nostalgia, and I don't care at all, usually when you go back and watch an old thing its often Not That Great (and the nostalgia critic has made a whole Thing out of this phenomenon). I didn't hate the Total Recall remake either, because I honestly feel if a story or premise is interesting there's nothing wrong with telling it again in a new way. And I think it's especially fine to do with Sci/Fi because by its very nature the genre has to constantly be updated. And so Robocop was surprisingly political?? With the heavyhanded commentary on drone use and big business manipulating our lawmakers and questions about artificial intelligence and free will and Evil Steve Jobs Michael Keaton and Samuel L. Jackson O'Reilly lol! Dammit I just feel the need to defend it because these are all things that make it good relevant sci/fi and are definitely the same things making the movie a flop. And of course I love robots and cyborgs and Gary Oldman so its no surprise I fucking loved this movie ok. ROBOCOP.
Also saw the Lego Movie and it was seriously the best thing in the entire world. I geeked out hardest over all the explosions/fire/water/smoke being made of legos and the big fingerprint on Emmet's torso. And the plot was really impressively solid (President Business was the BEST) and so so so good seriously go see this movie.
I love movies!!
"Would you like a second opinion? You are also UGLY!"
HEHEHehehe for the katyamola who I <3 very much. How much? THIS MUCH (I may have overdone the blood but I don't know what I'm doing and too scared to look for realistic ref 8<)
Also OHMYDEARGODFINALLY. "Soon". Ahaha in valve time.
I did some fun holiday-appropriate stuff last week (dark harbor @ the queen mary) but didn't do anything on actual halloween because I was
dead tired
Stuff like this is pretty livejournal but whateverrr. This is an art tumblr and if I'm not gonna post art I might as well complain about it WOO
I thought about it a lot more and realized that I AM shy. Not in general, I don't really have any social anxiety IRL, though sometimes people think I am shy (or a huge snob) because I'm super quiet or whatever. I am TOTALLY freakin shy about my art tho omg. I remember telling my mom that if I ever had my own gallery show I wouldn't be able to actually be there, ohmygod, a room full of people looking at my art with me THERE? NOPE I'm one of those assholes who won't let people look in my sketchbook. Its not like its a diary or anything but nope. nope.
I wasn't like this at ALL when I was small but when you're a hypersensitive hyperemotional weird kid you either learn to grow a thick skin (which everyone in the damn world insists sensitive people do, guess what, it's not always possible, this is how I am MADE) or you just make a container for youself deep inside and you don't share it with anybody. I am made almost entirely out of secrets. A two dimensional holographic projection, only one side visible. I feel like there is pressure to share my creative self on one hand and then on the other hand I'm supposed to just let the downsides of getting attention just slide off my back? When that stuff hits me way harder than it has any right to? I've been doing this long enough to have figured out what I can and can't handle. And YEAH it's honestly not much! I don't WANT to be this way but I've spent over 10 years trying to change and it didn't work so why should I feel ashamed anymore. Maybe someday things will change and I'll be in a safer place for all this. I'd like that because I believe I have a LOT to offer, everyone wants to make their mark in the world I guess. I have some ideas and plans for my life but I dunno if that'll be what makes the difference. MAYBE SOMEDAY I'll just be this unstoppable fountain of awesome creative works.
I'll keep striving to make that happen. It just hasn't yet. SHRUG.
questionstar.org & questionstar@deviantart. I like to make art, friends, costumes, trouble, and history this is an art/creativity/rambling blog where I complain about art more often than I actually post it!
