I'm the flakiest artist to ever flake uuuugh. Sitting on a bunch of half-inked or half-colored works-OHNOsomethingelseIwannadrawimmediatelyONTOTHEPILEWITHYOU- will I finish?? Ever?? WE JUST DON'T KNOW.
Oh wow, I had no idea you had a tumblr! Your art has been some of my favorite for years and years. :'D /creeper
The tumblr is new! Also, WELCOME CREEPERS, come one, come all!
I really like the look of that Naroth fellow! Why don't you tell us something about him?
Naroth was born into a very superstitious tribe that took his red eyes and hair as a bad omen and tossed him and his mom out because she refused to sacrifice him. They were taken in by a surly desert dragon who raised Naroth as his own after his mom died of heartbreak due to exile or something equally pitiful. He's a very talented warmage and specializes in casting spells in song/chant form but due to having a strict slightly brainwashy master/apprentice upbringing by a dragon he is really socially and emotionally stunted. His sidekick role to Errikan is a typical cold silent loner, but really brutal in battle.
Madranek looks like a pretty sweet guy. What's his story/what's he like/got anything interesting to tell us/etc? :) Spill! <3
Madranek is a minor councilman for a small wealthy province of Esterahad, he's psychic and is sort of a mentor figure to Lillia who is a very young powerful psychic. Because my story is mostly about politics a huge portion of my characters are politicians of some kind D:

Oh geez. Actual storytelling I guess. Plot? Does that count? I do ok with character motivation cos I find that fun as all get out. But when it comes to creating Interesting Times and Mysteries™ and Shocking! Plot! Twists! I get a bit frustrated. All that writer advice to write the story you want to read? Well I'm PICKY. I'm very insecure about my writing even tho 99.9% of my drawing motivation comes from it. The majority of my ideas come to me as scenes with characters interacting, and then I struggle to piece that shit together into something coherent with a minimum of plot holes and not-boring. So hard.
Hmm ok something more specific to worldbuilding is when I'm trying to do something with alternate history and I do TONS of research but can't tell at all if I've done enough. Or what details might be higher priority or more relevant? I guess I can manage to avoid some rookie mistakes, but I personally loathe Did Not Do The Research and really really, really don't want to fall into that trap myself. Then there is the tricky issue of cultural appropriation when you're working on something that's not based on your own cultural experiences. So hard.
Another commision, D&D Tiefling! I was torn between overdoing the fog and... not overdoing it. Did I succeed? Psh I dunno, I like it though.
Today I joined the ranks of that illustrious class of people who've performed a smartphone baptism by toilet.
I got a book on artistic printing a while back and it really spoke to me, especially the slightly bizarre compositions... I think of it as roughly the design era that happened just before art nouveau, it has a little more anarchy to it that I totally love. Then my awesome friend gave me a book of clipartprinting press designs from 100 years ago, I spent 2 days scanning my favorite designs and converting them to vectors (arrrugh that was so much work ahaha) and I still only converted the stuff I wanted to use right away. AND I have been working on a new look for my website that is SUPER influenced by that design era, see?? SEE?
Since I want the title bar to look like moveable type I think I'm going to go all the way and flip them, it'll be extra cheeky that way, oho.
