A wig made out of basically four wigs, guys. SO much painful sewing because I kept poking myself with straight needles (I used curved needles too but they feel so clumsy, I dunno!). It’s three wigs from eBay which ended up being cheaper to take them apart vs buying wefts, and two sets of wefts from Arda because they have some super pretty shades of powder blue.
Tried to get a gradient with minimal dyeing, so I blended five shades of blue… I dyed the tips though. Jaquard iDye Poly for synthetics works pretty well (Arda has great wig dyeing tutorials), best out of every other technique I’ve tried! Which is most of them xD If you look hard enough you can find wig hair in pretty much ANY color and I reccomend that route if you plan on having a wig you can wash and restyle and don’t have to worry at all about any color rubbing off on costumes, etc.
I want it BIGGER, I need more styling practice, I was tempted to add more hair but tbh it’s too much weight tradeoff. I have some ideas to add fluff without additional hair so we’ll see! One thing about big cartoon hair is how often it’s drawn with MORE volume near the ends which is pretty, but nonsense since any layered hairdo will obviously be thinner at the ends, plus teasing it makes it big at the scalp! It has plenty of volume at the scalp cos my head is huge :p I put some tubular crinoline in it last time I wore it which helped me make a big fat braid, so there’s more possibilities to explore there, man I am writing too much about this
ITS ALSO GOT TINSEL IN IT but the process is SO tedious I haven’t got much progress on that yet meeeeeeh! BTW it’s gonna be entirely fiber optic 8)
Hi! I have followed you on DeviantArt for a long time, like 5 years? I just want to say thank you for always being an inspiration to me. I recently went back to look for you on the internet but I find you are like a ghost! You are soooo talented and you should share your work more often! You wouldn't get judged for what you do. Well anyways, thanks for still being around. Your work inspires me greatly! :)
Imma reply to this! Since its kind of an ongoing thing with me since I stopped using the internet as an active participant when i was aaaaa teenager? Anyway will try to sum things up for recent times.
Long story short I had a full time decent paying job for 3 yrs but was working 80-100hrs/wk regularly. I got laid off, moved in with parents and now I am making minimum wage retail while I try to finally finish a degree that hopefully leads to a “real job”. I have… No Idea At All how anyone manages work AND school I am So. Tired. Im not even taking a full courseload so who knows for how many years this is my life now. Anyway. When I have time and energy to spare for art stuff its been more on experiments and learning skills I dont have (tryna get better at sewing… last year was fiddling with electronics… And this year i have access to a GARAGE so its time to BUILD THINGS)
If it makes u feel better here is a yellow ranger i drew last week when i should have been studying.
Aaaaand Im replying to this when i should be studying because i have an exam in the morning and work in the afternoon so. Bone thrown xD Thx for the msg and compliments and sorry for bein so defensive.
I really missed doing this! I hope y'all are still interested cos I'd love to talk story! Worldbuilding is my most favorite thing k. If you want questions answered, nonquestions, advice, whatevs. Discuss!
I'm about to draw 27,842 robot outfits and YOU CAN'T STOP ME
Dug around in my archive drives for Discworld fanarts. I have a lot of Feelings I can’t articulate very well soooooo I’m not going to, just enjoy the draws xD FYI Zombie Reg is still one of my favorite faces I’ve drawn of all time, ever!
MAN I just remembered how I sketched the Vimes family portrait after I read Thud! I should find that and finish it...
cthonicseraph said: Question: Do you find it harder to build a world from scratch, or to build characters and situations in our own world? Like Furies of Calderon vs. Dresden Files (if I can use my extensive Jim Butcher knowledge for anything).
I don't think I've tried anything terribly close to our world to count, Shae's story is just such a distant, distant future that anything goes, and Edie's story is alternate history but I take an... obscene amount of "creative liberties", since steampunk is such an anachronistic mess anyway. Though I would say its still been the most challenging so far, because pulling handy answers out of my butt whenever its convenient won't fly. AU earth stuff is going to usually need SOME basis in our history and geography. Which also means some history or geography nerd is out there ready to point out mistakes and glaring omissions. Scary :|
And totally not the question but I definitely prefer Dresden Files (major bias from living in Chicago for four years, he does it so well!), they're funny and exciting and I enjoy his takes on mythology and magic. I couldn't get into Furies- it's pretty usual srs bsns style of dry high fantasy that bores me to tears. Also its kinda rapey
Another commision, D&D Tiefling! I was torn between overdoing the fog and... not overdoing it. Did I succeed? Psh I dunno, I like it though.
fairy experiment I guess?? jewelry wire, pantyhose egg, continuous rotation micro servo, ornithopter blueprints (not pictured :p). one thing that has been holding me back from playing with animatronics was the fact that there are ZERO!! resources for hobbyists (theres stan winston school but I'm too broke for the courses aaand they dont have a handheld fairy class, lol) So I took my time to research everything orthogonally related (RC planes, hobby robots) and even got a mechanical engineering textbook lol HEY LISTEN we'll just see how it works out xD
working on a color based battery life indicator, just got the colors mapped to analog input yaaaaay
I did some fun holiday-appropriate stuff last week (dark harbor @ the queen mary) but didn't do anything on actual halloween because I was
dead tired
questionstar.org & questionstar@deviantart. I like to make art, friends, costumes, trouble, and history this is an art/creativity/rambling blog where I complain about art more often than I actually post it!
