do u have anything to say about the physical and philosophical change from a Body to a Corpse? when everything in the body stops so it can become something else?
i have SO many thoughts about the philosophical transition from Body to Corpse, and the objectification of the corpse and how that both contrasts and reflects the objectification of the body - the corpse is accepted as unquestionably an Object, a Thing, which is part of where the horror and revulsion associated with it comes from, but objectifying the body, though ultimately socially acceptable and even encouraged, is widely criticised, and can cause offence. partly, of course, because the body is a representative of the living and one's awareness and self-identity, while the corpse has no such inhabitant remaining within it to take offence to being on the receiving end of that objectification (only any projections of the living). the corpse forces us to reckon in a way nothing else can with the nature of the body as nothing more than meat and impulses, and the fragility of the connection anchoring our sentience to it. we are behind the incredibly delicate wheel of a vehicle whose complexity and capacity to impact the world around it defies description. the corpse is the ultimate, undeniable existential revalation, showing us as we are, brutally honest and laid bare. we can adorn it in any number of comforting layers in an attempt to distance ourselves from it, but none of it will spare us from what lies beneath when our turn comes to cross the threshold ourselves.
Ive been thinking about the peer pressure line lately. People often take it at face value, seeing it as Stu saying he really was peer pressured by Billy.
Personally I've always taken this line as sarcasm/ a joke, but I think we can get a little more understanding about Stu's meaning from it's context in the original script, where another line has been cut:
Here when Billy talks about a motive he's not necessarily talking about his real personal reasons for doing it, he's specifically talking about the story he's going to tell in court as a defence if he's caught.
Later, after Sidney escapes she asks Stu for his motive- not in the context of his personal reasons for doing it, but in the context of what he's going to tell the cops:
So when Stu answers here he's not telling her what his personal motivations are, he's telling her the story he's going to give the police.
In the movie Billy's lines about how he's going to use his story in court is cut, but Sid's line here is barely changed; she asks Stu what he's going to tell the police and he tells her. Peer pressure.
ITS A COVER STORY.
can you imagine how freaky shark mermaids would be like unlike sharks, shark mermaids would have actual arms/hands and could rely on touching things with their hands to see if they’re prey rather than having to bite like sharks do. like youre just swimming in the ocean and suddenly you feel a strong grip on your leg, you freak the FUCK out because uh what????? the fuck??? youre swimming alone in the ocean??
a head pops out of the water, dorsal fin pointed from its back and it just points at you and says in a low whisper: “i thought you were a seal. please dont swim alone like this, im sorry i scared you i just wanted to see what you are” and then disappears back into the depth. what the fuck.

i saw a post on here the other day saying it should be a crime or whatever, that skyrim still costs 60 dollars.
and i was like. HUH? it doesnt though. i got it on sale for like five bucks a few years ago.
and today i fucking found out this is probably because bethesda is trying to hide the original $20 release of the game, to force you to buy the $60 HD release.
so for anyone who wants skyrim, you can still access the page at its link, even though its not possible to find on the store page naturally.
this seems fucking insane to me, by the way, considering old skyrim runs fine with amazing graphics on most modern pcs, while HD is unplayable on anything less than a high end gaming PC.
Hey, I was part of this wonderful production of this wonderful show about love and death and automata and loneliness. Everyone in the show was so incredibly talented. Give it a watch if you've got the time.
Continuing my redesigns for Descendants, this is my take on Carlos de Vil! Here’s where I can see why the modern setting approach works better for a character like Carlos, whose mother isn’t close to the other villains’ time periods. Let’s just pretend that in this take, the school and world take place in a “out of time” sort of setting where it’s primarily a fantasy oriented place with the possibility of characters coming in from modern time periods. That, or the other characters are just suuuuper old fashioned. 🙃 For Carlos, I liked the idea of his wardrobe being old money hand downs passed over to him by Cruella - high fashion materials that are now tearing and falling apart. I kept him slightly shorter than the girls (even though it’s not super apparent without a height comparison) just because I liked that idea of him being the runt of the litter in his friend group.
