Fully Functional and Driveable Truck Made of Ice

A Canadian ice sculpture company called Iceculture took on an incredible challenge recently. The result is pretty much unbelievable.

Canadian Tire, a battery company, wanted to showcase just how well their batteries hold up in the cold. The best way to do that? Build an 11,000+ pound, fully functional and driveable ice truck. Every part of the truck that is not absolutely necessary for driving is made of ice.

Pornhub just launched a surprising new site
Well that was unexpected...

For a growing number of American kids, porn is their sex ed.  Now Pornhub is hoping to offer their audience some more formal lessons in how to be a healthy and happy sexual being.

On Wednesday, the massive adult entertainment destination took the somewhat surprising step of launching the “Pornhub Sexual Health Center.”  They’re hoping the free sub-site will become a go-to resource for some of their 70 million daily users on all manner of topics, including STIs, sexual safety and how to manage relationships.

They’ve chosen Dr. Laurie Betito, a renowned sex therapist, to direct the site and they’ll also be working with a number of doctors, therapists and other experts to offer advice and answer questions.  Corey Price, Pornhub’s Vice President, told Mashable, “Our goal is to provide our visitors with a site that has credible and insightful information, rather than have them scouring the internet.”

While it’s a database they’ll build up over time, a first look reveals they’ve started with the fundamentals — with answers to things like “Babies. Where do they come from?” and “Are there really three holes?”  These might seems almost laughably basic to adult consumers of hardcore porn, but there are a lot of young people for whom these are very real questions.

Price told Mashable they weren’t aiming the content specifically at beginners.  He said they simply want to appeal to “those who are looking for trustworthy sex tips and health advice provided by experts.”  But it seems like they realize this could prove to be an especially valuable resource for their younger audience, who most likely isn’t getting comprehensive (much less sex-positive) sex ed in schools.

There are, of course, plenty of online sexual health and education resources, but for many kids, landing on sites like Pornhub is already their way into learning about sex.  Porn can obviously teach you plenty about the basics and mechanics of intercourse, but there’s a whole range of other things — biology, health, consent, relating to intimate partners, just to name a few — that you won’t pick up from watching videos like “Big tits round asses” or “Sloppy throat games.”

So if they can slide their curious audience over to the PSHC while they’re already on the site, it could function as pretty useful one-stop shop for filling in the blanks left by spotty sex ed classes and the birds and bees talks given by often bewildered parents.

Neat!

What are the most important skills an astronaut should have m?

First of all, the basic requirement is a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, and 3 years of experience (which can also be substituted for by an advanced degree). Other than that, operational experience (things with a technical/active/hands on nature like flying airplanes, SCUBA diving, taking things apart and putting them back together, basic fix-it skills, etc. etc.) is very important, as this is an integral aspect of every day of a space mission.  What we call “expeditionary skills” are also essential, basically the types of things you try to instill in your children, like how to play nicely with others, self care, team care, etc.  I like to think about this on the lines of a camping trip and who you would like to have along with you …someone that is competent and can take good care of themselves and their equipment, someone that contributes to the team and helps with group tasks, someone that is good natured and pleasant to be around, etc., someone fun!  These things are increasingly important now that we are regularly doing long duration missions (typical International Space Station mission is 6 months).  Experience living in extreme/remote/isolated environments with small teams is also useful, as it is similar to what we experience as astronauts.

♡ how to make lavender milk ♡

image

happy full moon in aries! today i am showing you guys how to make lavender milk ♡ lavender has been prized for centuries for its gentle healing properties & soothing fragrance. as most of you already know, every year i grow lavender in my garden. throughout the season i harvest the plant (when the purple flowers are bright and young), tie the branches together, and hang in a cool dark place to dry. the dried lavender can be used in beauty products, aromatherapy, baking, tea, herbal remedies, spiritual rituals, and in drinks! when ingested, lavender can help promote relaxation and sleep.

lavender milk is floral, pretty, and comforting. the flavour is at once fragrant and light from the flowers, but full, warm, and sweet from the milk and honey. i use nut milk (almond or cashew), because i think the nuttiness pairs well with the slightly bitter lavender, complimented by the addition of raw honey and pure vanilla extract. raw honey, ideally ethically and locally produced, still carries a range of health benefits that processed honey does not. it is antibacterial, antiviral, and soothing. give this recipe a try & experience the healing powers of drinking lavender ♡

ingredients:

♡ 1 cup nut milk (cashew or almond tastes best. if you’re allergic, you can use soy, rice, flax, or oat milk. you could also use a flavoured alternative milk- try vanilla!)

♡ 2-3 tablespoons of lavender, more or less depending on how strong you want the lavender flavour to be.

♡ 1 tsp of raw honey or more to taste

♡ ¼ tsp vanilla extract

directions:

in a small pot, combine milk and dried lavender. let simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes (do not boil- the goal is to achieve a nice infusion of lavender, which involves a longer, slower heating process. you don’t want to scorch the milk or flowers!), longer if you desire a stronger flavour. you’ll notice the lavender beginning to lose its colour. remove pot from heat, strain, and compost the flowers. while it’s still hot, dissolve a teaspoon or more of raw honey to taste, and add the ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract. and there you have it, your own lavender milk! fragrant, soft, and delicate. let it lull you to sleep or incorporate it into your relaxation routine. you can try this recipe with a variety of other edible flowers, like rose, chamomile or borage, or a blend of flowers! nothing will make you feel more like a princess ♡

I supported Bernie more passionately than anything i’ve ever supported in this country. I voted for him, wore his merchandise, his bumper sticker still sits proudly on my car, but I will not be writing him in next week.

Immediately after his loss I looked for hope in the green party, joined jill steins meme dank stash, did research on her policies and though I was skeptic about a few things I had hope. But as time went on just like the rest of the candidates she too proved to be just not enough. Her failure to run an effective campaign and her anti-science pandering was too much for me and I found myself staring dreadfully at our only two real choices.

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

God knows I do not want to vote for either of these two vile, corrupted, insane individuals. One is a clown and the other a robot, both interested in their own agendas and not the well being of the people they wish to lead. I’m tired of the news, i’m tired of the drama, I’m tired of cringe worthy arguments on facebook. So I went back to the last thing I believed in, and listened to Bernie. He believed in us, and so I am choosing to believe in him. He had an idea for the future and an idea for what it meant to be free and be great, and i know he hasn’t given up on those ideas, so I will listen to him and vote for Hillary because a protest vote won’t help anyone, or anything, a protest vote won’t help him or the ideologies that I stand for. And voting for Trump would be voting for everything he fought for, so I will vote for Hillary. Not because I’m a shill, or a hillbot, because God I despise that human being. But because the alternative is the exact opposite of what I stand for, so I have to make a sacrifice and vote for the lesser evil because my future and the future of my daughter depends on it.
