I hate Reddit

there is a subreddit called guysbeingdudes that is always front page, with videos of men having fun or doing funny things and men in the comments acting like it's unique to men. so, someone, presumably women, created justgalsbeingchicks and letgirlshavefun to have a sub for the same thing of women just having fun, but it almost immediately got swarmed with men who have completely taken over it, and now any post of it on the r/all page is either sexual shit like 'let girls go stupid on the dick' 'me when he cums inside' or memes and videos revolving around negative misogynistic tropes and stereotypes, posted as 'haha, women are so dumb and silly'. but everything is posted as if the posters and commenters are women, and they're all men.

when people say that women in the entertainment industry who are sexualised are expressing their own sexuality, i often think of these youtube videos that came out when i was a teenager from the buzzfeed try guys of all people

in the first one, they get styled and photoshopped the way male celebrities do, and in the second they are styled, posed and photoshopped like female celebrities

their comments are surprisingly insightful

"there was nothing human about that, i was just an object"

"in an effort to photoshop you more to female standards, your look has gone from 'i will either murder or fuck you' to 'wont you please come fuck me?'"

when women are styled this way, they aren't expressing their own desire, they're embodying cultural stereotypes that say women don't have their own sexuality, they are objects for men to project their own sexuality onto. and when male sexuality is caught up in ideas of dominance and conquest, performing for the male gaze becomes consistently degrading

Did you know that after they switched to blind auditions, major symphony orchestras hired women between 30% to 55% more? Before bringing in “blind auditions” with a screen to conceal the the candidate, women in the top 5 major orchestras made up less than 5% of the musicians performing.

It's absolutely cruel to women in general to have gender neutral bathrooms replacing women's rooms, but it's downright unfathomably evil to do this to little and teen girls, especially in schools.

Imagine being 9 and getting your first period, bleeding all over the toilet, thinking you're dying, and having your male peers in the room with you instead of just other girls who can get you cleaned up and comfort you, telling you what a period is and that you're safe.

Imagine being 12 and having endometriosis, curled up on the toilet in agony on your lunch break at school, and hearing the boys in the next stall over making sex jokes (or worse - laughing at your sobbing).

Imagine being 10 and having no way to hide the fact that you changed your pad from the boys in your grade who will then go on to tease you and say you're bitchy and hormonal if you fight back.

Imagine being 14 and trying to find a moment of reprieve from the boys sexually harassing you, only to have them follow you into the bathroom and record audio of you urinating.

Imagine being 6, just entering first grade, and having an older boy kick open the cubicle you were struggling to lock.

Imagine being 17 and having your male peers crawl under your cubicle, phone in hand, camera app on.

Imagine being 15 and having nowhere to be with just your female friends to cry about heartbreak or harassment, or even just to be with girls alone to laugh and joke in peace.

Lack of sex segregated accommodations in wartime prisons are considered a human rights violation by the Geneva conventions for a reason. This is psychological torture towards our girls. It's evil. Truly fucking evil.

some of yall need to understand that "my body, my choice" also applies to:

addicts in active addiction with no intention of quitting

phys disabled people who deny medical treatment

neurodivergent people who deny psychiatric treatment (yes, including schizophrenic people and people with personality disorders)

trans people who want or don't want to medically transition (yes, including trans masc lesbians with top surgery and trans women without bottom surgery, yall are so weird to them wtf)

and if you can't understand that, then you don't get to use the phrase

In the same way that ending slavery didn't have to be good for Whites, ending the Holocaust didn't have to be good for gentiles/people not in concentration camps, legalizing gay marriage didn't have to be good for straights, etc., feminism and women's rights don't have to be good for males in order to be legitimate.

the jarring contrast between radblr having posts detailing white men drugging and raping a woman in her 70s, a white man creeping on his own daughters, a white man strangling his wife and then pureeing her in a blender, white men joking about a woman being puréed in a blender, a white man keeping a woman captive for years and torturing and sexually violating her, a white man getting a slap on the wrist for the possession of child porn, and then posts arguing that white men are more humane and less misogynistic/violent to women indicates severe cognitive dissonance.
