Can't Expect To Be Able To Use Bathrooms In Public

can't expect to be able to use bathrooms in public

Hear me out: I think the trans and disabled communities should be bffs (like the ace and bi communities are). Not only are there a lot of people who are both, but consider our shared experiences:

The grand and noble tradition of lying to doctors to get semi-adequate medical care.

"It's all in your head."

Being told we're faking it to get those sweet, sweet benefits of being oppressed and having unusually high rates of poverty.

People asking us invasive personal questions within 0.2 seconds of meeting us.

Being told that we're not REALLY trans/disabled because we don't fit into preconceived notions of what we should look like.

Being held to ridiculously high standards of appropriate behavior/attire/language because if our whole lives don't revolve around being the perfect cripple/performing gender to the max, we are either faking or somehow being bad representation of ourselves.

Shocking people by actually being happy with our bodies and celebrating them.

Also shocking people by expressing negative feelings about our bodies.

Getting frustrated when people act like we're oppressing them for wanting to exist comfortably in public.

In short, we have a lot in common re: the shit we put up with, and we should be besties.

xoxo--a disabled

Helpful Diagram!!

Helpful Diagram!!

I was in a kitchen with coworkers, crouched on top of the fridge. A sheriff’s deputy came in and asked if we were the ones hunting the lions. A not too bright coworker said that we were, despite that not being true whatsoever, and I was mad because this would ruin the reputation of our workplace. Then a lion crashed through the window, we escaped and ran through the woods to a playground. We climbed the playground and I foolishly thought that we were safe but I forgot that lions can leap.

Read this and save a life - YOUR OWN

From a surgical nurse and certified CPR teacher:

Please pause for 2 minutes and read this:

1. Let’s say it’s 7.25pm and you’re going home (alone of course) after an unusually hard day on the job.

2. You’re really tired, upset and frustrated.

3 Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to drag out into your arm and up in to your jaw. You are only about five km from the hospital nearest your home.

4. Unfortunately you don’t know if you’ll be able to make it that far.

5. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy who taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.

6. HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE? Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.

7. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

8. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.

9. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!

10. A cardiologist says If everyone who gets this mail kindly sends it to 10 people, you can bet that we’ll save at least one life.

11. Rather than sending jokes, please... contribute by forwarding this mail which can save a person’s life.

12. If this message comes around you... more than once… please don’t get irritated... You should instead, be happy that you have many friends who care about you & keeps reminding you how to deal with a Heart attack.

please take the time and boost this post by reposting it and sending it to those you love because we all need to understand how to quickly deal with heart attacks

Oh my this sounds fun...

Straight and cis, bi and cis, pan and cis, panromantic ace and cis, panromantic ace and bigender, and finally panromantic demisexual (though I’m still questioning and that’s a temporary label) and genderqueer/nonbinary/i don’t even know what i want for breakfast much less what my gender is

hey if ur lgbtq rb this with all ur past labels nd the one u use now

i’ll go first straight, bi, pan, demi, then lesbian

listen up chucklefucks, i just gotta say. I'm not defending zir, but I'm sad zie deactivated. Like, i get that trauma lasts a long time and the good stuff is maybe easy to forget?? so maybe it's just like that. And my beloved mutual @/pompeyspuppygirl made a post about zir clout chasing behavior, which is pretty shitty behavior if it's true (and if we're canceling someone it had better be pretty severe). anyways now that zie's gone pompeyspuppygirl said it was okay to make this post (again, thanks ppg everyone go follow her --really everyone in this whole drama is worth a follow)

ANYways yeah zie was my mutual and like, reblogged a lot my smaller posts. (that isn't to discredit what my mutual pompeyspuppygirl is saying about zie clout chasing ofc). AND idk zie was always reblogging art from new and undiscovered artists and reblogging donation posts (which if you don't know is really bad if you're trying to clout chase...) (again, though, ppg is my mutual i believe her.) and like, remember on valentines day i tried to blaze zir posts and zie told me to stop because zie didn't want the posts to go viral? (but again ppg is my mutual and has a lot of proof in the Google doc I'm not trying to disprove that I'm just saying what else I know)

Idk, like i feel like a lot of people loved zir's blog a while back, bc like zie DID make some good posts?? So idk why everybody's acting like they aren't even a little bit sad.,. like ngl this feels like maybe all the reasonable people left to Twitter and all the Twitter refugees who love drama came here??? shdfhhdhdhdhdh haha but idk...look idk, i just, julie i do miss you. idk. more thoughts later sorry I'm getting worked up shshs

Writing x Characters When You Aren’t x, A Masterlist

x: a variable used to represent something unknown.

We’ve seen an influx of questions about how to write stories based around characters of color, disability, non-binary, etc. when the author does not fall into these categories. Rather than have these posts take over the site, we’ve decided to compile a list of resources to help our fellow writers become more educated about writing what they do not immediately know. However, this list is not the end-all-be-all of knowledge; one should always try to learn from someone with first hand experience in any topic. The world is constantly growing and changing, and because of that, there will always be more to learn. The admins at Plotline Hotline want to help writers form respectful, informed, and realistic characters that broaden the narrow range we see in literature today.

*Be wary that some of the topics listed below contain sensitive material. Reader discretion is advised.*

As always, the links I found to be especially apt will be in bold. Topics are listed alphabetically, excepting the “other” section.

The Above Video Titled “The Unequal Opportunity Race” Was Screened As Part Of A Schoolwide Black

The above video titled “The Unequal Opportunity Race” was screened as part of a schoolwide Black History Month program at Glen Allen High School in Glen Allen, Virginia. Some parents apparently weren’t thrilled about that. One local grandparent had two words for what this video was pushing on white kids.
