I recently did this new cover for the second edition of Dark Horse’s Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Art of the Animated Series hardcover book, which will be released on November 24, 2020. This is a redo of a DVD cover I did ages ago. I always liked the drawing but was never happy with how cramped the composition was and how poorly I colored it. It was fun to take a crack at it again. The second edition will have a few new things in it. Hope you enjoy!
As someone who grew up in the 90’s and early 2000’s, I enjoyed watching Nickelodeon cartoons. As you can guess, hearing of Stephen Hillenburg’s passing saddened me. I knew he was the creator of Spongebob Squarepants - one of my all-time favorite cartoon shows - but it was only recently that I learned he also worked on Rocko’s Modern Life in the mid 90’s, another show I remember watching as a kid. Both shows had their own unique brand of humor, and Spongebob went on to be a cartoon character as iconic as Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny. I like to think that each cartoon show, animated movie and short that I watched as a kid, in part, inspired me to become a cartoonist and develop the artistic style that I like to use. So, I would like to honor Mr. Hillenburg with this comic, thanking him for the entertainment he brought to the world, and for the inspiration he gave to others like myself. Thank you, Mr. Hillenburg. Rest in peace.
One of my favorite movies of 2018.

Robin Williams was definitely the king of comedy. The older generation of us as kids have very great memories of watching his movies growing up. It’s hard to believe it’s been five years now since he’s been gone but he will never be forgotten.
Some of my favorite shows from Cartoon Network.
This painting has been long in the making. I had the idea over a year ago, but was wrapped up in another project and unable to get to it. And then once I finally got started on it, yet more projects kept pulling me away. It wasn't important, and I love it for that. It was purely for fun and for the love of Spongebob, and a desire for Spongebob fanart that I, an adult, could hang in my home without turning it into a little kid's bedroom. So, I'm very happy to be finished with it, and I can't wait to put it in a sleek, gold frame and hang it next to the Furby watercolor in my very classy, very adult dining room.
This was sketched in Procreate, printed out on watercolor paper, inked with custom-mixed color inks, and finished with watercolor.
I'm printing this out at the original size, 12x18", and a slightly smaller 8x12" on heavy, textured paper to replicate the watercolor look and feel. They will be ready soon, and are already available for pre-order on my Etsy!
