Quickly being reminded of how much Martin Blackwood really is the character of all time. He faked his CV. He’s a serial arsonist. He has mommy issues. He got pissed at his boyfriend for killing their boss without him. He gets the hots when said boyfriend kills monsters with his eldritch horror powers. His love language is tea. He’s got psychopathic tendencies. He writes poetry. He made up a fake middle name for no reason. He’s gay. He’s fucked up. He’s even trapped in a modified version of Windows NT 4.0, a business focused predecessor to Windows 95. I can only hope to one day create a character so iconic.

ITS THE SAME TREE

hey so remember that guy in tmagp 3? not sure if this is obvious but i think the tree in that episode is the same tree that isaac newton made in tmagp 19.

the creature first "[takes] root", as is the same with samuel webber. both mention lethargy.

samuel webber states his desire for the sun and the tree dog is said to grow towards the sun with "insatiable desire".

in conclusion, the tree is a reoccuring character and it survived until at least 2009 (the time of samuel webbers tree-becoming). i suspect we'll see it again (maybe ink5oul's floral tattoos have something to do with it?). i have some indistinct thoughts about what it's turning stuff into, but that's for another post.

I wonder if Augustus as a narrator is meant to give us remnants or calls to the Magnus Archive Fears? Like his first statement was textbook Slaughter, this new one pulled aspects of The Lonely, The Spiral, The Corruption, and The Web without offering anything we couldn’t attribute to the original fears. Obviously we’ve seen non-Augustus statements that point or could align to things like The Vast, The Hunt, The Spiral etc.. but other than Lady Mowbray’s statement, all have felt off, or turned on their head in some way. Makes me wonder if his role is to point out aspects of the original universe in this new different universe.

TMA fans go outside and they see a big guy who’s bad with convos and a guy reading a book and go “HOLY SHIT IS THAT MARTIN BLACKWOOD AND JONATHAN SIMS FROM MY PODCASTS??????”

still thinking about Needles I headcanon them to be covered in hundreds of needles that are part of them and regrow on their own, but they still add additional, bigger needles like they're piercings

there is something just so damn compelling about Lonelyeyes as a deeply, deliberately harmful relationship, as a vessel for fear, for feeding.

every time they're together Elias knows Peter can barely stand his company, knows he'll be leaving both soon and abruptly, knows that Peter will never truly give himself away. he knows that his archives are full of letters from friends he left to die or killed himself, knows that his closest companion is an avatar of Forsaken, knows that he truly has no one left but himself.

every time they're together Peter knows Elias can see him, see all of him laid out and plain, all his most private thoughts, all his hopes and his fears. he knows there is always, always a chance that Elias is watching him whenever he is anywhere but the Lonely itself. even on the Tundra, tucked away in his private sanctum, he can never truly escape it, but that fear is so much worse here and now, with Elias' eyes (Jonah's eyes, really) on him. it is undeniable that he is seen, and known, and judged.

Elias knows that Peter understands exactly what he's thinking when they're together, that he knows all the sentimental weaknesses he's tried to cut away. Peter knows that Elias will never truly care for him, that at the end of the day he will always be another piece on Elias' chess board, practical and expendable.

they both know what this is for. they need fear, and they do, at the end of the day, want each other (in certain ways, in painful ways, always too much or too little), and they are under no illusions about what this means to the other (Elias knows what it means to Peter, of course, and while Peter doesn't have any supernatural insight he's no fool), and it hurts, and it's meant to hurt. it hurts, and it sustains them, and when they go their separate ways they can't help but wait for the next visit with longing and fear alike.

literally my favourite thing about lena kelley that keeps being proven again and again as the series continues: she does not give a fuck and is just doing her job. no morals. no plans. no personality. go girl, give us less than nothing. cannot find it within me to believe she's the big bad when she's literally an empty shell of a person repeating someone else's lines back at the person she used to be. she is nothing. she's everything to me.

It tickles me that Elias seems infinitely more approachable than Lena, like if I needed the afternoon off for a doctor's appointment I know who I'd rather be asking even if he is a eldritch all-seeing murder manager who says terrifying things like "my door is always open".
