i may be absolutely terrified of loud sounds but i wish i had wings so i could fly up into storms and be high up in the clouds when the lightning streaks across the sky and the thunder rumbles so loud that it makes my bones tremble. I wish i could feel the bite of the air that high up in the sky.
I want to be free.
To soar across the infinite skies.
To run my fingers through a lake as I glide over top of it.
To cling to a telephone pole and sit atop a streetlight.
To sit up high, maybe a rooftop, maybe a building ledge, anything at all, where nobody can bother me.

Do you think captive hatched birds fear the open sky?
Do they have a concept of being lost, of straying too far from home and not knowing how to get back?
The inside of a house to them is like a home city to us, compared to the vastness of the entire planet.
To fly must also be to fear. Fear of falling, of bad weather, of collisions, of becoming lost.
Moving so quickly, so high in the air, held aloft by only your wings. Knowing hundreds of meters of air stretch between yourself and the earth’s surface.
I recall one time I swam in a lake, keeping myself a few feet above the ground through buoyancy and the movement of my forelimbs, somewhat like flight. Tired, I reached down with my feet to touch the ground, stand up and rest. I found nothing but cold empty water below me. I had unknowingly swum out past the 5ft mark.
The water couldn’t have been more than 7ft deep but it felt like an ocean for that moment. Like an open sky. Like a bird so far out with nowhere to land.
If I could fly in my human body, I would keep to a few meters above the treetops and power lines to get to work, home or the woods. I wouldn’t stray far from civilization, always keeping roads in sight and a phone or gps on hand.
The world seems so large when you can move that high and fast.
I would still love to fly if I could. Soaring over grassy fields and waterlogged marshes, over sprawling cities with a destination in mind. Seeing the glory of the world from above.

Does anyone else enjoy sleeping on their stomach? I just lay in my nest with my blanket on my back and I can just feel my wings splayed out comfortably and I find the idea of laying on my back horrible cause I don't wanna mess up my pretty wings. It also makes my dog brain happy to be laying down with my arms tucked and nuzzling into the pillow.
Idk, sudden realization why I adore sleeping on my stomach. Especially when my cat enters with in the blankets, makes me feel like my wings curl around him too.
this is what I believe I looked like, but I dont know what to call it? what Is the name of this dragon species?
