that one thing about blue jays being the one funky colorful guy in a family of goths is fake actually. theres a lot of blue corvids esp in north america. even some of the gothy ones have blue bc corvids just fucking love being blue.

hiii, I'm back! could I have a satyrkin-based recipe (I'm thinking easily forageable or homegrown ingredients like mushrooms and root vegetables)? I'm vegetarian and would prefer something that can be made with just one pot or pan. Thanks!! :3

Foreword: Growing up a bit broke we always did a lil something we called a Stir-About! It's a one pan dish, and can be easily adjusted to for whatever you like! We used to do a breakfast themed one for any meal because the ingredients were cheap and it was filling. Here's a more woodsy take on it! I didn't use true measurements because it really is an "as you can find it" and personal taste type dish .
DISCLAIMER: Use extreme caution when foraging and never eat something you can't 100% identify. Only take what you need and nothing more. Make sure you have the permission of private land owners before you forage on their land. A delicious dish is not worth risking your health or getting into legal trouble.
Ingredients:
Mushrooms (whatever you can safely forage! I recommend chanterelles and/or morels depending on your area!)
Burdock root (if you can find it)
Dandelion greens
Potatoes
Garlic (wild or otherwise)
Eggs (optional, but adds a bit of protein)
Salt and Pepper to Taste
Oil (use one with a high smoke point, like vegetable, canola, or avocado oil)
Directions:
Wash your vegetables! Either use water or a water bath with a slight amount of vinegar to clean them. To wash morels if you find them, shake the dirt off, then submerge in a bath of cold salt water and soak to clean.
Slice up all your veggies! You can peel the potatoes or not, it's really up to you!
Put some oil in your pot/pan of choice, although I recommend a deep pan.
Add your potatoes, and gently fry on medium to medium high until soft enough to stick a fork in them. Stir occasionally.
Add your roots next! Cook until soft.
Add your mushrooms and greens; cook until both are soft but the mushrooms aren't rubbery.
Season with salt, pepper, and any other seasonings!
Crack in your eggs! A good rule of thumb is to crack 2 eggs for each person you're serving and 1 for the pot.
Season again! Always season in layers.
I hope you enjoy!
