For a while now folks have asked us for better ways to connect with other people who share similar interests. We’re listening, and at Labs we’ve been looking into fulfilling that need, Tumblr style.
Introducing Communities, a new place to connect with others on Tumblr:
Here in Labs, we’re working on big ideas that could transform how Tumblr is used, while keeping that Tumblr vibe alive. You can see one of those ideas above. We’re calling it “Communities”, a new dedicated space on Tumblr for people to share and discuss all the content they love. Communities can cover topics like your favorite show, artist, movie, video game, your school, your board game group, friend group, big or small, whatever you want.
Each Community has their own semi-private safer space away from the regular dashboard where you can interact with other Tumblr users who share the same interests and passions as you. There are moderators and members (you!), rules, and privacy settings. Each community has its own feed of posts from members, separate from your Following and For You feeds. Interactions within community spaces stay there and replies will work more like a traditional comment section. Folks will be able to reblog posts into a community, but not out — at least not yet.
We’re very excited for you to try it, and help define the best path forward. What we have is a prototype to help us validate the idea, but there’s still plenty of questions that need answering. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be reaching out to people across Tumblr, and the internet at large, to try our prototype. Based on the feedback we get, we’ll iterate on the idea to see what resonates best with all of you on Tumblr.
If this sounds interesting, please like, reblog, or reply to this post, and we’ll invite you to beta test this feature when we roll it out to a wider Tumblr audience, as a little perk for following the Labs blog.
Stay tuned for more!

there is honestly nothing more gorgeously tacky than bowling alley carpet
i’m currently going through the process of getting my new laptop ready for mobile development through Cordova, a setup with the reliability of a coughing baby. i’ve painstakingly written down notes detailing every single step over the years and it is still giving me headaches every time. everything has changed somehow. i’ve just reinstalled a precise version of gradle (don’t ask) and the folder architecture is apparently completely different this time around. help me
I have returned from my meditative retreat atop the secluded mountain of the Pikaman, to resume my duties as Chief Merch Officer of the @emporium.
But Abstract Reactions will forever be in my heart — I’m even considering getting them tattooed!
Just to refresh your memories, on April 1st, Tumblr provided you with a bunch of Reactions to use on posts! Specifically, the emojis I had most recently used on my phone… I’m SO proud of how much incredible ENGAGEMENT the product received.
Over 100,000 of you spirited react-ers participated — and how many reactions did everyone use, you might wonder? Well, wonder no longer, I’ll tell ya!
🐛 was used over 20 million times.
🧀 was used over 7 million times.
🦀 was used over 3.8 million times.
And tied for fourth, 4️⃣ and 👻 and 🐴 were used over 2 million times each!
The special SUPER reactions of 🦄, Pikaman, 🍪, and even me, Brick myself, were unlocked over 15,000 times!
And at least one clever person figured out that I never thought about checking if someone could send negative reactions, so it turns out someone sent in over 120 million negative 🧀 reactions! So many cheesed posts got un-cheesed with that anti-cheese — and you know what, I’m not even mad about it!
Here’s to 🐛! Cheers!
Yours clickingly, Brick

Get dazzled by the true spectrum of solar beauty. From fiery reds to cool blues, explore the vibrant hues of the Sun in a mesmerizing color order. The images used to make this gradient come from our Solar Dynamics Observatory. Taken in a variety of wavelengths, they give scientists a wealth of data about the Sun. Don't miss the total solar eclipse crossing North America on April 8, 2024. (It's the last one for 20 years!) Set a reminder to watch with us.
To everyone that's confused, the planet Venus rotates very very slowly, with a single revolution taking about 243 Earth days, and Mercury rotates slowly, but not as slow as Venus.
TW water temple in OOT, I guess
zelda dungeon design peaked in twilight princess
breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom have a combined total of one (1) real dungeon - the spirit temple in totk, which barely gets a passing grade. everything else is just "turn on the 4 batteries" over and over again, which is such a decline from what we used to get
sure, there were a few "turn on the 4 things" in previous games, but that would be just ONE of the AT LEAST 6-7 dungeons. we used to have such variety as
"enter this giant fish and navigate its insides"
"this is my yeti house and i'm a wife guy ohnO my wIFE is EVIL FOR A bit"
"flood and drain this cavern infinite times to access different areas, screw the ecosystem. also fight yourself"
