Oh my god, food extract is not the same as an essential oil.
Food extract is the flavoring of something cooked down into a carrier oil or alcohol that is safe for human ingestion.
Essential oil is the pure extract of the plant refined down and distilled for concentrated medicinal purposes to a significantly higher strength than simply adding ground up mint leaves to your water. The two are not comparable in any way.
Cinnamon extract and cinnamon essential oil are not the same thing.
One is about 100 times the strength of the other and can also cause acute organ failure. I’ll give you a hint, it’s not the food extract.
Sweet gods I’m not trying to be mean, I want you to be aware and safe and stop putting yourselves and others at risk. Please.
Sometimes it is very disappointing to be a Jin Guangyao fan in this fandom, especially as I continually see people miss the entire point of his journey and slander Wei Wuxian in the process.
They deliberately are introduced to us with reputations that are the opposite of their actual characters. At the start of the book we hear about how evil Wei Wuxian is and how he deserved to die and yada yada yada. We also hear (even from Wei Wuxian himself) about how Jin Guangyao is a pretty decent guy, done some good stuff, definitely a decent person.
And by the end of the book we get the reveals that we need to understand that both of these presented reputations are false. Jin Guangyao built himself a shining reputation out of blood, torture and lies and used it to place himself atop the jianghu. Wei Wuxian refused to stay silent in the face of malice and had his reputation torn to shreds.
The people who insist that Wei Wuxian is a villain and Jin Guangyao is a misunderstood hero are doing a disservice to both characters. Jin Guangyao has no regret for the blood he shed or the harm he did, only that he was caught in the end. Just like Wei Wuxian has no regrets for his actions in the end, he did what he knows was morally right in the situation and saw it through to the end.
Let Jin Guangyao be the villain he was crafted to be, he worked so hard for it, he killed his own damn wife and child in order to get what he wanted. Don’t make his sacrifices (of other people) worthless by calling him a sad boy who only wanted his father’s praise, cause he killed people for that.
I haven't abandoned this story. I just put it on the back burner for now. The story is just on a small vacation. It is currently out of office. It can't come to the phone right now. It just fell under my bed to sleep with the monsters. It never left my head. It is everywhere - except on paper.
microdosing on catharsis by watching a fictional character or persona i relate to have an emotional breakdown until my chest starts to ache from the amount i've repressed
Me screaming this at everyone and at myself
grabbing new writers by the shoulders. it is important to write what you love and to love what you write. if you spend all your time trying to make something other people will approve of you will hate yourself and everything around you. learn at your own pace. you have time. i’m proud of you
genuinely i really admire people who can set aside some time and go Okay I'm Writing Now and then get some writing done, i'm just out here fighting for my fucking life
its so fucking embarrassing joining a discord server like hii im a random asshole and heres my stupid attempt at assimilating into possibly years of injokes and personalities that i have to blind read and hope i mesh well with but for now ill just fucking talk to myself publicly in front of everyone i guess because nobody cares about what i have to say

Dialogue tips that actually work:
You are not writing a movie (ignore this if you are). The reader doesn't need to know every word the characters say for the duration of the story. Less is more.
Dialogue can happen within the prose. "And they awkwardky discussed the weather for five minutes" is way better than actually writing five pages of dialogue about the weather.
Balance your dialogues. Surprise yourself with a monosyllabic answe to a dialogue that's ten sentences long. Don't be afraid of letting your character use half a page for a reply or nothing at all!
Don't write accents phonetically, use slang and colloquialisms if needed.
Comma before "said" and no caps after "!?" unless it's an action tag. Study dialogue punctuation.
Learn the difference between action tags and dialogue tags. Then, use them interchangeably (or none at all).
Don't be afraid to use said. Use said if characters are just saying things, use another word if not. Simple. There's no need to use fancy synonyms unless absolutely necessary.
Not everyone talks the same way so it makes sense for your characters to use certain words more often than others. Think of someone who says "like" to start every sentence or someone who talks really slow. Be creative.
Use prose to slow down the pace during a conversation.
Skip prose to speed up the pace during a conversation.
