Stuck inside (again) with storms, heat and viruses swirling outside. Good news is that’s giving me plenty of time to serve up two mixes for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. … Looking forward to the wedding. Only today am I beginning to realize how huge it is. Name the Mars 2020 Rover!

In 2020, we’re sending our newest robotic scientist to Mars, paving the way for humans to one day live and work on the Red Planet. The only problem? Our Mars 2020 rover doesn’t have a name yet! We’re calling on K-12 students across the country to find the very best name for our next robotic space explorer!

The Mission

Before we can send astronauts to Mars we need to learn more about the planet and its climate. This is where the Mars 2020 rover comes in. Its job will be to explore the Red Planet in search of signs of ancient life! It will also be tasked with characterizing the planet’s climate and geology, and collecting samples from its surface. Because of the groundwork laid by rovers such as this, humans will one day become an interplanetary species!

Meet the rovers that came before it

The-soon-to-be-named rover will be joining the team of historic NASA robots that have been working away in space for the past 27 years! All of our robot explorers have their own missions, personality and names that help tell their own story. The most recent Mars rover is Curiosity, the  …..

One grand prize winner will name the rover and be invited to Cape Canaveral, Florida to see the spacecraft launch in July 2020! So, what will it take to win? Sounds like I need some new shoes

I’ll admit it; I’m a bit scared. But I spend all day thinking about the same person, so I need to follow my heart. I do feel like I’m having to choose between my brother and the woman I’ve fallen in love with, but if you ask me, He wanted me to feel the uncertainty that everyone else feels. … My mixes showcase what I’m really thinking -- unfiltered, because it’s like I have competing voices in my head. The melancholy usually wins out, but music helps restore my faith and hope and has led me to love. I keep wanting to “be the man” and just ask the question that you know I want to ask, but I’m honestly trying to avoid becoming King David, because I have a cousin named David and I once called him a “bitch” in front of my grandmother, and I really would prefer not reliving that moment. That was the day my grandmother’s car was struck by lightning (no lie). It scared the hell out of me but gave me a fright that I can remember and laugh about now. … And now you can laugh with me.

New journey

Beginning what I hope is my final journey. It began with a new phone, which I almost broke right out of the box, but now I’m all new! (If I can get the nausea under control, then I’ll really be on my way!)

I named this after the cartoon I wasn’t allowed to watch as a kid. It’s inspired by really smart women. Y’all are amazing!
