Alright so after patching plotholes and editing, the plot ever so slowly started to drift away from the original plotline. So here we are now with a new beginning plotline that also ties back to the rest of the Grian timeline.

Though this change I can assure you guys is pretty much solidified so a change from this is very unlikely.

A watcher!grian fancomic by me :>

A collection of headcannons and fanfic ideas compiled in one big comic basically. Focuses on the watcher lore and includes scenes even from as old as YHS to the current season of the life series. Watcher Origins is an AU based off of, you guessed it, Watcher!Grian.

Will include YHS, KOV, Evo, Hermitcraft, hints of Impossible Minecraft and the Life Series. Many concepts here are inspired by both fannon and cannon concepts (listener Martyn, vex Scar, the curses etc.)

So just for any missing context of any sort, I copy pasted some scraps of notes about LUMEN :D idk I just felt like it. Warning it might be a lot of scrolling so umm beware!!

CHAPTER ∞: Our Will Be Done

Chapter 0 is an introduction to the main plot, as WC is really excited to see how the Life Series goes. Chapter ∞ is the very end.

Both take place in the Watcher Realm

Throughout all of Chapter 1 (AKA Third Life), the player solely plays as Grian. At the rare times in which he sleeps/is alone, the Watcher Child visits Grian, only confusing him further ("Get out of my head, please!")

After Grian jumps from the cliffside at the end of Third Life, the WC joins the Watchers again. At first, it seems like they're cheering that Grian won and that the Life Series were a success. But at the end of Chapter 1, after the celebrations, it is revealed that the WC doesn't approve of the Life Series as much as before Third Life.

The WC vowed to make sure the player they chose from their tarot cards would win. They plucked another card from the pile… "THE STAR".

Chapter 5, Secret Life, has the most Watchers moderating and controlling it because of what happened in April (The Lost Pages---Real Life's Malfunction)

Chapter 6, Wild Life, will be the LEAST controlled by the Watchers. This will be because of one of the two undecided reasons:

Option A: The Lifers (aka mainly Grian) broke the system and caused the Watcher Realm to malfunction

Option B: Same as Option A, but it was the Watcher Child who did it.

You can change the background plot as Watcher Child; for example, in Double Life, maybe Watcher Child causes Scar to realize that he's literally being cheated on and he goes to join the Broken Hearts Club!

The Watchers have many forms, but two that stand out are specifically:

Creature Form:

The Watcher takes up the form of a humanish creature, but it still looks alien. It has no face. The watchers' talking sprites will be represented via Eyes.

They will be differentiated by the shape/form of those eyes.

Pure Form:

Lovecraftian Cryptid. Never goes well for mortal eyes.

If you see it, you will probably go blind.

REAL LIFE'S PROMINENCE EXPLAINED:

Real Life would be a "failed experiment" of the watchers, hidden to the world and erased from all the memories of the lifers---all except Cleo.

See, while you're playing through the game, it'll be a free roam world whenever you're in the middle of a quest which requires you to go somewhere. Hidden (but also more out in the open) around the Secret Life map will be these torn out papers from an unnamed Watcher's journal, who was documenting how Real Life went. So the player is aware that these papers exist, the first one will be given to you, and you'll have a side quest to find the rest.

Once you collect all the papers, you go on to complete Secret Life (as Scar, since the Watcher Child is watching from his perspective, like how they do with all the other winners). When Secret Life is over, you'll be notified of an option in the MENU to play Real Life, aka The Lost Chapter. Real Life will have an old timey, brown worn down filter to it, as you will be playing through Cleo's Memory---the only other live proof that Real Life exists.

The reason that A. these papers are torn out from a journal and B. only Cleo remembers Real Life is because remember, Real Life was a failed experiment. (Remember how Real Life really only lasted one episode? That's why it was failed---it wasn't prolonged, and to the Watchers, it wasn't very entertaining, either)

The Watchers thought that the failure of Real Life was a clear weakness to their everlasting power, so they simply got all of the Lifers and removed their memories... but before they could end the series, Cleo had already won. The main and number one rule in The Life Series of Experiments (I literally just made that name up on the spot) is that all winners, no matter what, will remember the series they won. So they forgot that they couldn't erase Cleo's memory.

So, Cleo is not bound to the Watchers like the other Lifers are. And thus, she remembers.

⁠If they end up finding the comic or fan art, be normal about it. Don’t make it a big deal.

⁠When making fanart/fanfics don’t make anything that breaks any of the involved CCs boundaries

Reupload and Reposting the comic/ DDVAU official art

Do not reupload full parts of the comic without permission, even if it’s translation. Ask Doody or Maruu first.

⁠Don’t print or use the comic and its art for commercial use.

Reuploading parts of the comic for reaction or theories its okay.

When reuploading official art (not part of the comic) from either Doody or Maruu, remember to credit us as the artist

Hi hello hello, thank you for the ask, those are important questions to answer, so, here we go :]

Project LUMEN is a passion project, and all members of the team have stuff going on irl, as such, we do not expect you to dedicate all day every day to the project, just as many contributions as you desire or are able to help us with. Just remember, this is all for fun! Think of it more as a group project haha

The background/character artist thing is supposed to be more about general art, and we will contact the folks as we decide to give them further instructions. Background artist is more about general backgrounds, like menus and UI. And character artists will each be in charge of drawing a Lifer's talking sprites, using their very own style and methods. As such, we will not request them to adapt to the game's chosen artstyle unless they want to help with other art such as overworld/battle animations, UI or items, as we wish to keep the game varied, but not inconsistent.

And as for art or writing experience, we are not looking for that and your level of expertise will not impact our decisions, we are just looking for people who are willing to aid us with this, any and all contributions are truly appreciated, whether it be just ideas, script snippets, dialogues, art, or something else. This is by no means meant to be a serious project with strict deadlines or anything of the sort, this is solely fueled by our love for the Life Series and is a tribute to the wonderful community surrounding it and their passion and talent.

I want them worse when they’re with each other.

I want them to be negative influences on one another.

I need them to take one look at the other and know in their heart that there is no saving them. They are a doomed, twisted, tragic relationship that will lead to one of them hurting and killing the other. But for now, what they have is so passionate, so intensely intimate, they can’t bare to give it up until it’s forcefully ripped from their cold, perished hands.

I want the survivor to mourn the loss of something putrefyingly terrible because they will never be able to recreate the experience with another. I want the most toxic yaoi love possible.

I want them to look deeply into eachother’s eyes, holding the back of the the others head, as they speak in a tone like a wedding vow, that they promise they will never part, they will never escape, they will never be so happy, they will never be so miserable without the other.

In my favourite line from The Crane Wives song, Tongues & Teeth,

“I will only break your pretty things, I will only wring you dry of everything.”

“I will poison all your happy thoughts, I will love you like the ashes in my cigarette butts”

They are living so closely on the same wavelength that they are inseparable. They are menaces when they work together, one would burn civilizations to the ground for the other if they so desired. They would do anything for the other if only they asked. They annoy each other to no end. The are in love. They are in loathing.

They are so intensely passionate and obsessed, there is no way out but death. And one of them will die, soon, I’m sure. It’s only ever a matter of time. But they have the present, they have this wild inferno of the here and now, and they will not waste it.
