A few reasons why Jonathan Crombie will always be The Definitive Gilbert Blythe

1-His Birthday is in October- enough said!

2-His Mom’s name is Shirley Ann (yes, no ‘E’- but- its still cool!)

3-Jonathan chose to do The Continuing Story instead of going back to do plays at the Stratford Festival

“Megan was already attached when they approached me.  I was set to go back to Stratford, but decided if they were going ahead, and Megan was a part of it, I should be as well.”

4-He never tried to give the Definitive portrayal- it just happened

“But ultimately, the script served as my main source—and I tried to remain faithful to that.  If I had worried about trying to portray the “definitive” Gilbert from the books, I think it would have really messed me up.”

5- Unlike a majority actors who have portrayed Gilbert on screen, Jonathan is Canadian.
