I'd Like To Think This Misconception Is The Result Of A Deliberate Snow Job On The Part Of The Younger

I'd like to think this misconception is the result of a deliberate snow job on the part of the younger Ms. Watson. For the purpose of getting an in with the cute boy next door, natch. I mean, MJ *is* an actress, is she not?

HA! And I Say Again HA That's Like The Winning Entrant In A "explain What MJ Is NOT" Contest. Amazing

As Tiring As All This Shit Is, I Can't In Good Faith Continue To Use Spotify.

As tiring as all this shit is, I can't in good faith continue to use spotify.

As Tiring As All This Shit Is, I Can't In Good Faith Continue To Use Spotify.

For anyone else jumping ship, I used exportify.app to save my favorite playlists.

---

Edit: I'm used to maybe getting a like or two with the occasional single reblog (of mostly shitposts) so when I saw "99+" notifications I thought my app had glitched. So you can imagine my overwhelm when I was hoping to actually reach someone for once but never ever expected this, much less 10k or even 1k (or 100 if I'm being honest!). I do see people's questions and wanted to be able to provide answers but other users have already been very helpful! (thank you all so much!) So I recommend going through the notes for tips and suggestions.

So far I've downloaded Deezer and used a combination of tunemymusic and soundiz to transfer my playlists. Some seemed to only transfer the name of the playlist but no songs so I'd try the other site then it would work fine. I forget which but one has transferring more than 500 tracks at a time behind a paywall so I just did one playlist at a time and it worked. It also lets you check/uncheck individual tracks. I also like that it would show you what didn't transfer (for not being on Deezer) so I can find them elsewhere. I think the most that failed at once was maybe like 10ish tracks from my anime playlist which makes sense. It was a few specific artists.

I usually try to keep my blog peaceful (but not necessarily neutral) because we all need an escape from doomscrolling and people don't realize how quickly they can drown out your entire timeline/feed/dash/etc with said doom, despairing, and even flagrant misinformation. It doesn't mean I'm ignoring what's going on or not doing the work irl. I personally have days when I just don't have the mental capacity to process all the terrible things happening and need to see just fanart or laugh at shitposts so my goal is to provide that space for anyone needing that same breather. Hell, I just lost my job less than two weeks ago in an unexpected layoff and rent's due in a couple days so that's where my focus has been instead of the news. So I'm super grateful that one of my rare "please look at this" moments was actually, well, seen.

A fantastic poem on an infuriating phenomenon; arguing in good faith does not guarantee a correct consensus

just because someone can articulate their point better doesn’t make them right, it makes them articulated.

Since TWN S1 dropped, people have argued on here nonstop about Jaskier..., is he tough, is he soft, is he sweet, is he feral, (and on and on)

Firstly, the most obvious answer is that people are many things at once. Obviously. These things are not mutually exclusive.

But also. Guys this is all extremely, wildly relative.

Think about it.

To Jaskier's terrifyingly powerful friends (Geralt can kill like ten people at once, Yen burns whole armies) he's just a little wet kitten. He's a precious little package to look after when times get scary.

But compared to other POETS? Other ACADEMICS? Other MINOR NOBLES? he is inSANE.

Imagine him teaching at Oxenfurt. The youths are like HOLY FUCK , this man has walked the entire continent. He has seen five hundred kinds of deadly monsters, and lived to tell. He's survived kidnappings, walked through war zones, he has mementos from like three different historical battles on his walls. His dearest friends (family, really) are people who are sung about in dark cottages like they are demons and world destroyers. HIS BABY NIECE IS LIKE *THE* WORLD DESTROYER TO SOME PEOPLE. He understands war strategy, every single aspect of every faction, and how to survive almost anything.

He would be so intimidating to them.

Then Geralt and Yen come to visit and squish his cheeks like look, it's our soft little baby, we need to check on him because he cannot fend for himself. I hope no one here has hurt his feelings, we have learned that he hates that so we no longer allow it.

And he's like...can I come on this mission?

And they're like idk it's so dangerous for you.

And the students are like ????????

Speaking as someone who (without breaking the law) wreaked vengeance such as was spoken of in hushed whispers for years upon my longtime tormentors...felt super satisfying. Still gives me the warm fuzzies to think of it. Then again, I also let go of all my anger at them afterwards bc I considered us even, so your experience may vary.

You know what's stupid? When a story's like "this character gets revenge and then just feels all empty inside and without any sense of accomplishment, thus proving that revenge is meaningless!" Like. My pal. I feel empty inside when I complete ANY kind of long-term project, including ones that have immediate and tangible benefits; so unless you want to seriously consider the thesis statement "making comfortable socks is meaningless", I highly suggest you revise your conclusion.

"Sleep." As in "rubbing the sleep from your eyes"

What do you call the stuff that accumulate in the corners of your eyes while you sleep?

Morning dust

Grandma's tears

Goblin tears

Night salt

Eye goobers

Soundlies

Nighties

Dreamies

Mouse droppings

Something else (please share)

I know this concept but have no word for it

I'm not familiar with this concept

So does the guy know you're white-knighting for him on social media? Seriously tho chillax. I thought we were doing a bit? You know, since like I said earlier Spider-Man started off as literally just a masked wrestler...and that his particular level of wisecracking can only be obtained by a certified doofus. (As an out of character aside I'm not really sure how this level of role-playing works, I'm kind of new to Tumblr. Am I not supposed to acknowledge the bit? Was it rude to interact back? Sorry if I'm messing up your RP I honestly don't know the rules)

Spider-Man's Canon Crypidization

As much as I love how Batman went from respected lawman to urban legend, I feel people fail to appreciate the Marvel equivalent. Peter Parker's alterego went from 'literally a wrestler with a gimmick' to 'he might maybe have once been human? We hope?!' in the eyes of the average civillian/mook.

Like his origin is clearly human, he's a tv performer and it's understood that his webbing is a gadget he came up with for the schtick. Then a little later when the Xmen become more popular and have more of an effect on the Marvelverse, you get the whole 'mutant scum' angle. But it eventually becomes clear that no, whatever this guy is, 'typical mutant' ain't it. (The alien suit debacle does not help with this at all.)

By the mid 80s Spider-Man is basically a cryptid, helped along by how the choreography and art style changed enough to show him moving in a way that is very inhuman, striking from the shadows, gravity optional. There's a whole arc where he adventures overseas and just straight up passes for a supernatural being so as not to compromise his secret id.

Then whenever anybody interacts with him long enough for him to start quipping they realize he's just a huge dork. Like, you know the inhumanly strong man-shaped shadow that can tell you pointed a gun at him from two blocks away without looking? He's going to give you a punny nickname while tying you up with a semi organic compound hitherto unknown to science. It's so funny.
