Padawan Obi using references of young Ewan McGregor with long hair β€οΈ
I GOT THE MOVIE AND SHIRT TODAY
Bonus shirt I bought. It's from Stranger Things and I thought it was cool. There was a Hellfire shirt too but I couldn't find it so it was probably bought already.
We got an Obi-Wan Kenobi t-shirt at work today! It was him in The Clone Wars and I got so excited! It was priced super cheap too so it will probably be gone tomorrow but still. I also Ewan's movie The Ghostwriter for sale and it was still in the wrap! Cool stuff
I NEED to get my dash looking like I woke up in Ewan McGregor heaven. I can't take only seeing posts that invoke all out panic and despair. I get it. I GET IT! We're all gonna be murdered and select rich white people will finally live their 1950s wet dream and there's nothing we can do about it. Is it too much to ask that I at least be able to read some quality Ewan fanfic as shit hits the fan? What about headcanons of an obscure character? Where are pictures of his handsome face? Think-pieces on an underrated movie? We need a Titanic "and the band played on" moment but it's just all the Ewan McGregor fans sending memes and gifs and whatnot. Please for the love of GOD, I need some happiness π«
EDITING NOTE: I didn't realize until a week after I posted this that I grossly miscalculated the Screentime Percentage. I'm sorry for that oversight and the correct SP is now posted in the review.
Our first review is here! π
Being Human is our inaugural Ewan McGregor movie review and stars the late, great, Robin Williams.
Funny enough, if this movie came out ten or even five years later then I would have put it in the "guest appearance" category and not written a review. That's how small Ewan's role was lol. However, I felt that it was only fair to start with this one because....this is Ewan's first ever movie role! That's right, you'd be forgiven for thinking his first movie role was in "Shallow Grave" but his career started far more humbly lol.
Movie Review: Being Human is about a soul, Hector, that we watch be reincarnated into five different lives over the span of centuries. He lives as a caveman, Roman slave, Scotsman, Portuguese man, and finally, a modern family man. Throughout his lives, he experiences hardships and must decide how to handle them, though he doesn't always make the right decision. He also crosses paths with a couple of other people from his past lives. This movie is veryyyy slow. It's two hours of literally watching someone live their life no matter how mundane some moments of life are. However, the movie is also heartfelt and feels strangely nostalgic even though I never watched it growing up. I also really like the concept of the soul reincarnating and getting the chance to redo past mistakes. Watching this movie a second time definitely made me appreciate it more and the beauty that lies in a life simply lived.
Ewan Review: Ewan plays a character named Alvarez who has been shipwrecked with Hector. He has a whopping three, that's right, THREE lines! His character is not integral to the story and if you didn't know he was in the movie then you probably wouldn't even notice him. He looks much older than his actual 22 years as well, especially considering how he looks in his next project "Shallow Grave."
Screentime Percentage (the numbers here have been rounded to the nearest whole number): Ewan is on screen for a grand total of 2/122 minutes making his SP a lowly 2%.
To Ewan or not to Ewan: Is this movie worth watching for Ewan content alone? Absolutely not. Is the movie worth watching? Yes, though the slow pacing is not for everybody.
Conclusion: Being Human is a quiet and contemplative film about life, our place in it, and how our love can span lifetimes. If you're a fan of Robin Williams and you have two hours to spare then I would encourage you to give it a watch. I rented the movie through YouTube which was the only place I could find it online.
P.S. if you do decide to watch the movie and just want to see Ewan, his first appearance is at 1:6:30 and last at 1:19:42. You can also watch one of his speaking lines on YouTube posted by the account Ewan McGregor Vault (where the image below is from).

Made my first MCR necklace last night!
I chose the song Disenchanted because it's one of my favorites. I also felt like it's something different, like, not what you'd expect for MCR jewelry/kandi.
At first I wasn't sure if I loved it. I have synesthesia (and a weird brain in general) and I wanted to make the necklace match the colors of the song. Inevitably I got a bit overwhelmed playing around with the beads and getting them in the best order I could. Why is this such a big deal to me? The world may never know lol. But the more I look at it the more I like it. And I can now say that I'm very proud of it.
Initially, I was going to have the D-I-S be black letters and the rest be white. I felt like that would be unique on its on own AND THEN I realized that the word "dead" could be spelled inside "disenchanted" and I felt like that was super MCR coded so I went with that. That's what I'm most proud of. π
Y'all! So there were a bajillion DVDs at the thrift store all week. I'm not kidding. They had so much that they had to start bringing the movies out in buckets because there wasn't any shelf space. I haven't had a chance to go through them all until today. I just kept telling myself "there's way too many movies for there to not be a Ewan one." I felt it in my bones. If he was in one of these buckets, I was gonna sniff him out. Finally, after a long and tedious search of scanning movie titles, guess what was at the very end?
BAM!! I could hardly contain my joy! I knew he had to be there and I knew I would find him! Yayyyy, I'm so happy! π I picked up Chicago too because of my darling RenΓ©e Zellweger π₯°. There was a movie called Twisted that I considered getting for Ashley Judd too (she was in Eye of the Beholder with Ewan) but I only had so much pocket money to spend. What a great score!
For the last week, I've been working on an Oliver x reader fanfic and tonight I finished it! I'll be posting it tomorrow. A wonderful coincidence that this came across my dash. π

Beginners (2010)

We're nearing the end of Ewan's 90's movie run! This movie took me a looooong time to get through because it's so anxiety inducing! You've heard of second-hand embarrassment? Well, get ready for second-hand panic lol.
Fun Fact: Pip Torrens plays a supporting role in this movie as the boss of Ewan McGregor's character. They worked together on the 1995 television show "Kavanagh Q.C."
Genre: Thriller/Crime
Rating: R
Director: James Dearden
Starring: Ewan McGregor, Anna Friel
Synopsis: "Rogue Trader" is based on a real person and event which makes it even more painful to watch. The movie is about Nick Leeson, a young and ambitious employee at England's second oldest bank, Barings. Nick's dream is to work as an investment trader for the bank and after hard work, earns the position. His ambitions don't end there and as he strives to make a name for himself by any means necessary, his pride and deception lead to a catastrophic end that shocks the world.
Ewan Review: Ewan McGregor plays the main character Nick Leeson. Nick is a plucky young man eager to make his mark in the investing world. He's charming, intelligent, and cares deeply for his wife and employees. Unfortunately, he uses these positive traits to his own detriment and the detriment of others. As you watch this movie, it becomes increasingly clear why Ewan was hired for the project as he is Mr. Prince Charming himself. Ewan brings a soft touch to this role. Making a man who caused irreparable harm to god knows how many people sympathetic. You want to see his luck turn around. You want him to do the right thing even as he digs himself deeper and deeper into his mess. Ewan has a love interest in this role and several kiss scenes. He has a nude makeout scene, and is shirtless multiple times. He also gets a very clear ass shot. He gets extremely anxious, and sleep deprived. You will literally see him shake, cry, or throw up at least once. He gets hit in the face with a chair at a bar fight and has a couple boxing scenes. In other words, there's a lot of yummy content in here.
Screentime Percentage: Ewan McGregor is on screen for a whopping grand total of.....65 / 94 minutes! This makes his SP 69% π± That is a HUGE amount! "Trainspotting" has finally been dethroned and I honestly don't know what movie, if any, is going to top this score. So start placing your bets!
To Ewan or not to Ewan: Is the movie worth watching for Ewan content alone? Yes. Is it worth watching in general? Yes.
Warning Before Watching: In the very beginning of the movie, a man flashes his penis at a woman he's hitting on. You don't see his penis but it's uncomfortable to watch just the same. There is a miscarriage scene that features light bleeding. It's not graphic but if you're sensitive to such topics and would like to skip, it starts at 53:00 and ends at 54:06.
Where to Watch: Rogue Trader is available for rent on Fandango at Home and Amazon Prime Video. It is also currently uploaded for free on YouTube through the channels "Retrospective - Classic Movies" and "Real Drama". Just search "Rogue Trader 1999" and both options will come up.
