Reposting for anyone who needs to hear this.
Just watched this episode and there are so many parallels to Swing.
We have Jamie, a pretty blonde and blue eyed girl who seems to come from a loving and supportive family start becoming over sexualised, she gets into a car accident and isn’t doing well at school whenever/since she has been off her med for bipolar/schizophrenia,
It’s also mentioned that she has sudden moodswings ( outbursts of anger that come out of nowhere).
Throughout the past season and the next two and a bit, we’ll see or have seen Kathleen demonstrate all of these traits/sumptoms.
The guru that Jamie is following, who is advocating for no more medication cannot be more than 50, and I think his parents sent him to the psychiatric hospital when he was 14/15, which would mean it took place in the late 70’s or maybe early 80’s.
We know Bernie went to one of those when Elliot was young, probably when he was 8, when she threatened to shoot Elliot and Joe Sr at the beach and maybe again when Elliot was 10 and she wanted to run away to Paris. So that is what she was most likely subjected to, possibly even worse, as it would have been during the early to mid 70’s. I completely understand both the guru and Bernie’s aversion to drugs. Even Jamie mentions the meds left her feeling like a zombie, and this would be in the early 2000’s!
We also get Casey’s heart-breaking story about her fiançé. Her guilt is so palpable ( and kind of parallels Elliot’s, as neither of them saw it coming). Charlie’s fate could so easily have been Kathleen’s as it is implied that Charlie is probably dead from drug overdose.
Munch is super critical of mental health medication, saying there is a pill for everything nowadays and whatever happened to just having a bad day, which Elliot basically agrees with.
There is definitely a comment about sometimes the signs being hard to spot they show up in a loved one ( the exact quote references home, I think).
Jamie is also forced to stay at the psych hospital to be medicated, just like Kathleen is.
Even in the Season 9 premiere, we see Elliot really struggle to get his head around multiple personality disorder.

This is so cute I love it
I don’t know who’s been tagged to @the dash!
The “Wheels up!” scene made me cringe so badly. Fair enough, it was the phrase that got Prentiss through her traumatic experience, but to make everyone else say it was just silly! Other than that, I am quite enjoying the cases themselves and the interaction between team members is good. Morgan coming back briefly was great, his scenes with Penelope made me cry, but it also made me wish Hotch had been able to come back too.
If you’re still doing the asks:
20 - what is your favourite song at the moment
33. something you want to learn
20- favourite song is hard, as I don’t really listen to modern music, but I liked the new James Bond theme song and the two Abba songs from their new album
33- I would love to learn to sing in tune and dance, or speak another language, preferably one with a different alphabet ( Greek, Russian or Arabic)
Introverted, asthmatic and uncoordinated! Guess who was always picked last for team sports. Especially baseball, which is basically my worst nightmare! Also had my fair share of sexist/rubbish teachers for that subject! It took having an asthma attack for my teacher to realise that I couldn’t actually run any faster without dying!
Hope this helps someone and they can get out of there as soon as possible.
hey so protip if you have abusive parents and need to get around the house as quietly as possible, stay close to furniture and other heavy stuff because the floor is settled there and it’s less likely to creak
Please reblog and put in the tags your hair type (straight, wavy, curly, coily) and if you sleep with your hair in a ponytail/bun or leave it down PLEASE I’m so curious
I have to give kudos/props to the casting team who have been doing a stellar job from the start! The actors playing Stabler’s kids all looked like a blend of Chris Meloni and Isabelle Gillies, especially when they were younger. They also looked like they were all siblings! The only one who doesn’t really work is teen/older Eli!
The actresses playing Amanda’s mum and sister are perfectly cast, and the actor playing Mike Dodds looks like a young Peter Gallagher, as they have a really similar nose and jawline, alongside the blue eyes and dark hair.
Barba’s mother and grandmother also were well cast and looked like they could be his relatives. Hearing him being called Rafi was v odd, as he is so formal and serious at work.
Just watched the one with the big Christian family who have a TV show, and thank goodness Stabler wasn’t there as he’d have had an aneurysm over the purity pledges, that’s a step too far even for him. They made me want to throw up and my suspicions immediately fell on the person who did it, for once!
Carisi looking after all the kids was adorable, he did brilliantly with them. Someone make that man a dad, stat! I think even Stabler would have struggled with that many kids all at once.
I also love that his faith is super important to him, but the main thing I get from him is that he thinks most people are fundamentally good and deserve to be protected from the few that aren’t. Stabler was definitely pushier/more vocal about being Catholic and the beliefs that went along with that, Carisi is much gentler in his approach. He’s just a very good man and I adore him!
