big news, friends: tonight i hung out with my cousin who I never see (cousin 1, delightful, heterosexual, I see him once every five years), and he told me that a different cousin (cousin 2) who I haven't seen in like twenty years because cousin 2 is a homophobe and I'm a homo....is currently a firefighter at the lafd and I was like cousin 1. this saddens me deeply. "Buck is so funny when he gets sad. He's such a sad boy"

2. "I was really surprised by the bisexual plotline. Like, they did that, and I was like, what are the writers doing? But then they kept going and I was like, you know what, makes sense."

at which point I was like "well who do you think Buck's going to end up with now though?"

and UNPROMPTED he was like "Well, it's gotta be Eddie"

and I was like cackling with joy, obviously, and I was like what makes you think that. like I think that, but why do you think that, and he was like "dude, he's living in his HOUSE." and I was like "he's a renter!!!" and then he was like "and it's so obvious his sister thinks he's in love with Eddie" and I was like "cousin 1, when you're right you're right."

gonna get a bit syscourse-y here, but... recently noticed kind of a weird hypocrisy in anti-endo arguments and wanted to point it out to see if others agree

for extra context, i have DID and im pro-endo id say?? my mindset is basically just "i dont get it personally, but live ur life dude(s), its not my business and im not gonna tell u what u are / arent" because like. i find it super hard to believe that DID and OSDD-1 are the ONLY possible causes for systems LOL... also i will be using the terms endo / endogenic as umbrella terms for all plurality outside of DID / OSDD-1 throughout this post

ANYWAYS THOUGHH... most harshly anti-endo spaces (or at least those that are pro-recovery) really emphasise that DID and OSDD-1 are more than just "alter disorders", which i absolutely agree with! DID and OSDD-1 are both complex dissociative disorders that include identity alteration (alters) as a SYMPTOM, but the disorders both fundamentally involve dissociation and impairment in daily life to some extent

BUT... then they are also so quick to say that endos MUST have DID / OSDD-1 if they have alters... but what about all the other symptoms? most endos i have met do not experience dissociation or other DID / OSDD-1 symptoms. claiming someone MUST have DID / OSDD-1 because they have alters would kind of be reducing the disorders down to just "alter disorders", right?

plus, it seems to be entirely ignoring the fact that you can have a symptom of a disorder without having the disorder / being disordered... lets use ADHD as an example here since its the first thing to come to mind LOL, someone can have a short attention span or be distracted easily without inherently having ADHD. it would depend on the presence of other symptoms as well as degree of life impairment. this logic also applies to any other disorder ever... so why dont we apply the same logic to DID / OSDD-1?

most endos i see dont claim DID / OSDD-1, and the ones that do are generally mixed origins. if we apply the logic that symptom ≠ disorder and that DID / OSDD-1 are more than just "alter disorders", why would someone not be able to have alters without a dissociative disorder?

something i noticed with "anti-xyz" spaces is that.... there is no room for "anti-xyz" spaces, because those spaces will not be focused on support, fun, or community. it's just a cult used to diminish other people's self worth and esteem.

an example is in DID/OSDD/Plurality/Multiplicity spaces. I popped into the tag on tumblr to see what others' experiences are, and am met with something labelled "anti endo" etc. . And I think, if you're making a community, the only option is to be "pro-endo" or "pro-xyz" because that's the only way you're gonna meet individuals who are focused on safety, friendship, and community. Because if you constantly focus on how "you fan only be plural if you have trauma"- it is NOT your business to guess what another's persons trauma is! You don't need to know if a person is traumatized or not to validate their existence! You don't need to know other people's traumas! That is not your business, nor is that knowledge a suitable foundation on which to build a relationship.

The only choice is to be pro-whatever discourse. Because people are first. if all you focus on is whether or not your traumas are enough or real, you're just going to doubt yourself and cause unnecessary stress.

living happily in my world where maddie had to listen to her brother meltdown about the implication of being in love with his straight best friend and just. took a picture of him. in his adorable little housewife apron. and went. hmm i wonder who would enjoy this. and sent it to eddie. who she never speaks to. and eddie seeing a text from maddie and freaking out. lunging for his phone only to see a beautiful picture of buck practically glowing. and he's like :) thank you maddie :). and then he sets it as his little contact picture for buck. and he's just smiling to himself for the rest of the day.

They DON'T get it. Even if they say "well I know so-and-so who also has no legs and he just uses his arm-strength and he's at the top already, what if I carry you for a few steps until you have your strength back?" You're not him! He's clearly aquired tools and strengthened muscles you have not, and might never be able to! Only YOU know what you can handle. Do not fall to your death because you feel guilty!

Alright, so. I’m beyond infuriated and disappointed with the recent revelations about the Winx Club reboot.

I already had my worries because of some leaks and how things were handled in Mermaid Magic. For those unaware, MerMag had an AI generated octopus image in a background; meanwhile, the promos used AI generated voices. The leaks had some things that looked vaguely AI generated.

As it turns out, the reboot is actively using AI for official art and backgrounds. I wouldn’t be surprised if the reboot uses AI for “writing” and promotion.

I won’t post about the reboot or watch it at this point. I recommend that you don’t watch it either. We need to figure out a way to get to Rainbow about this abhorrent behavior of their’s.

Rainbow, if you’re reading this somehow…. Do better. AI generation is taken from stolen content. Not only that but it’s terrible for the environment.

Plurality, multiplicity, and systems are not synonyms for DID. They are umbrellas that include DID as well as other disordered and non-disordered experiences of being more than one person or personality in one body over time.

I think origin-discourse is stupid.

I’ve known I was plural for 4 years now. In the “real world” (If there is such a thing) I am afraid. I never speak about it outside closed doors. I have never met another system irl. I long, desperately, clawing at the floor with wet eyes begging the gods that someone like me is out there.

This is a large terror. All encompassing. Plurality is my whole life, yet it’s impossible to talk about it in the world. It’s not safe. Never was.

So - what. What? What if the first system I meet is anti-endo? What if we have different opinions on this discourse?

Do you understand how small this is? It’s such a small trait in the grand scheme of things. I do not care if you’re pro- or anti-endo. I care that you’re alive and here. No one cares about your origin! No one gives a shit! You’re stuck in an echo chamber! Stop hating others to feel safety!

I mean not only did Oscar canonically choose to stop on his way to put his things in his locker just to watch Lando, gentle blush dusting his cheeks, he was especially fond because Lando and little kids is so natural, also because Oscar of all people knows Lando struggles with reading so maybe he even hovered for help??, and was so proud because Lando did so well??, and then mouthing “ignore me” and being lost in watching Lando, then simply having to speak and say something sweet, because Lando’s reading kind things about himself and Oscar simply has to chime in, because of course Lando lights up and his voice travels into that giddy happy register and they both just smile into each others faces The Way They Do because shared happiness is so easy for them and jfc we rly just saw Oscar wanting to stare at Lando lovingly while asking not to have his cover blown there is no predecessor for this they’re just inherently soft and sweet and bashful about each other fuck!!!!!

post buddie canon episode called “partners” where buck and eddie aren’t allowed to be partners at work anymore so the whole episode we see bobby teaming up different duos on different calls. we get fun character moments between characters we don’t see interacting as much and of course it ends with some big climax where buck and eddie prove they work best as a team and should get to stay partners <3.

what they don't tell you about making friends is you gotta be a lil annoying. you gotta push past the fear of "what if they don't want to talk to me" and simply ask someone how their day is going, send a meme. you cannot connect to people if you're both just awkwardly waiting for the other to start.
