So, how did you come up with Roman and Solo's dynamic in Can't go Solo, along with Solo's and Samis?

I would love to hear how you came up with these dynamics and what you might have thought while you were writing them!!!

basically this was like welll over a year ago, solo never spoke, he was the bloodlines enforcer, roman was his “daddy” (-jey mockingly said this), the boys just did everything roman said. i basically just saw the bloodline as his dogs and especially solo, and with how the boys and ro talked about solo as a kid, so i really wanted to extrapolate that personality.

i basically had roman be a psychologically abusive cunt to solo- he’d watch his brothers get beat up and avoided doing the things they did to stay on romans good side, and learned to dissociate to create a sort of barrier to distance himself from the trauma as a young kid. with him being romans little snitch and following him around constantly and being groomed by roman into becoming his to control, i figured it would make it pretty sad if solo basically had no personality of his own, hence the lack of a dating life, no favourite food/colour/etc. i had rikishi be an absent father, so that with roman being around much more to act in his stead, solo always saw him as more of a father than he ever saw rikishi.

he doesn’t understand that sometimes people just do things because they want to or like the person, without wanting anything back in return.

which brings me onto sami. sami is a happy guy, he doesn’t necessarily see the years and years of abuse roman put the boys through yet, he just loves them. solo interests him because he’s so quiet, he almost wants to crack him. he’s enamoured by the way solo slowly slowly gets used to him, the little moments they have mean everything to him.

sami is the outside perspective, he notices slowly that things aren’t really okay, the twins are terrified of roman, solo has an insecure kind of attachment to him. he knows that solo isn’t exactly “normal”, but as an autistic person he never felt like he fit in anywhere either so he sympathises with solo in a way. he wants to be the one to help him figure out things in life separate from roman. he wants to be his first kiss, his first **😏, and teach him what *real* life is, but he’s more than willing to be incredibly slow and selfless about it. despite his size and killing capability, sami basically sees a baby deer. he can’t spook the poor thing.

honestly you could go as far as to say solo has some kind of stockholm syndrome with roman, where in the long term roman manipulated him through fear to love and respect him.
