hey guys just uploaded a new video! hope you enjoy! <3
life should really just be *wakes up refreshed* *drinks some coffee* *eats some oatmeal* *reads a book* *eats some stir fried vegetables* *reads a book* *eats a cookie* *reads a book* *drinks some soup* *reads a book* *goes to sleep content* *wakes up refreshed*
slowly falling into a productive routine and making lots of progress in contracts. i try to get even the smallest amount of work done each day, even when i feel demotivated or sad. sometimes the process isnt always pretty, aesthetic, or particularly inspired, and often it feels futile. cups of coffee and slices of apple cake i baked help. the thought that small progress is still progress helps. i know im doing much better than i did when i first started law school, and thats what matters.
- wake up with your alarm. don’t lie there for another half an hour. seize the day
- have a glass of water as soon as you wake up and before you go to sleep. hydrate
- stretch. do some yoga. try and do the splits or even just touch your toes. relax and meditate and focus on your breathing
- even if you’re not going out, change your clothes and your underwear. clean is always better
- go for run. or a walk. or to the gym. even just once a week. just get outside
- read a little everyday. maybe for leisure or maybe for class. just learn
- new music is always lush. spotify, apple music, a live gig. go hear someone’s heart
- cut things out that make you unhappy. people, relationships, certain foods, habits, anything
- study hard. work hard. get it. the job, the degree, the relationship. just do it for you
- check your boobs everyday. make doctors appointments
- eat a piece of fruit and veg everyday. we all know 5 a day is far fetched, especially for students
- compliment people. you never know how much someone needs to hear something positive
- compliment yourself. look at yourself in the mirror and say five things you like and maybe one to improve. you can always better yourself but don’t make that your be all and end all
- a relationship should never be your everything. it’s lush to be smitten and to have someone smitten with you but be sure not to become half a person. you are a whole. reclaim your independence. learn to love your solitude
- don’t forget your friends. keep in touch with people. don’t be glued to your phone but make sure you stay in contact
- give yourself time to heal. grief is a weird thing and time isn’t always the healer. you’ll have good days and bad days and you should never feel bad for crying. it’s not over and you don’t have to move on in the way people think you should. memories are good things
- don’t put so much pressure on yourself. eat that pizza. buy that charity shop coat. there’ll always be money and there’s always tomorrow to eat a salad. calm down
- stress is the silent killer. you don’t need that first degree or that promotion. do your best and you’ll be rewarded
- say fuck it once in a while. or a lot. a couple of g&ts, a party, a new outfit
- have sex or don’t have sex. it’s a lot of fun when your needs are met and you’re enjoying yourself with someone you love or just like the look of
- withdraw consent if you get uncomfortable. at the beginning, middle, end, it’s always okay. don’t let social expectations dictate your choices. the idea of being a slut doesn’t exist unless you’re hurting someone you’ve made monogamous promises to. other than that you’re good
- get checked and be good to your body. sex is great if your mind and body are good with it too
- take photos. paint. write in a journal. document your life. you never know when you’ll need some nostalgia or a creative outlet
- families aren’t perfect but they’ll always be in your life in some way. in person or in your heart and memory. try to make them good memories. there are those without parents and siblings and grandparents who would give anything to have what you have. try a little. take the higher ground
- mental health is important. cut out anything that could contribute to its downfall. your mind’s long life is more important than temporary fixes
- listen to the people close to you. most of the time they have your best interests at heart and they’re trying to help you see what maybe you can’t. don’t take things so personally
- we’re living in a time of hate. be a ray of sunshine to this dark world. don’t seclude yourself to your own cave. that isn’t what self love is. we need to take care of ourselves first, yes, but remember to love each other too
- take one day at a time
the greatest skill a woman can learn for herself is self reliance
Where was this when i needed it.. T_T
do your research before reading the book, it’s always a good idea to look up the author and when the book was written and published. by looking that up, you can learn about the historical context of the book and get a deeper understanding of the plot, characters, and the author’s purpose behind reading the book.
read the intro and summary of the book before beginning if there’s an introduction to the book, be sure to read that for any relevant information that may help you analyze the book. find a summary of the book online to prepare yourself for a good reading. i know, i know, it feels like a bit of a letdown if you know the ending beforehand, but without it, you may get caught up in the plot and lose the important thematic details of the book. it’ll allow you to read the book with an open mind.
figure out what you need to do do you have a list of vocabulary for the book? find out each definition. do you need to analyze a character? get a sheet of paper and get ready to take notes on the characters. do you need to write about the theme? get post-it notes and mark the quotes that you think are relevant to the plot. either way, just be prepared for what you have to do with the book.
don’t highlight; write oftentimes, people will simply highlight pretty much anything in the book. i’m not a huge fan of the highlighting - annotating method because you may want to sell the book later on or reread it without bombarding your eyes with bright color. the highlighter ink may even bleed to the other side of the paper. i think that it just ruins the reading experience and future potential. it also encourages passive reading. instead, use sticky notes or sticky tabs to write down notes and place them in the book. keep a piece of paper by your side to take note of every character’s name and important plot points. using a color key with sticky notes may be helpful as well. if you must, i would suggest underlining with a pencil so that you can erase it after you’re done with the whole process.
take copious notes write down the words that you don’t know in the story and look them up. write down characters and their changes over the course of the book. write down times / settings when they show up. write down important quotes and passages + page numbers. write down every single thought that you have about the book because it may become relevant later on.
make a summary of the chapter after you finish one i personally like doing the summaries on index cards and then put them in order after i finish the entire book. i can then look through them to see the plot progression and character growth over the course of the story without hunting through the book or my notes.
wait until you finish the entire paragraph / passage before writing notes if you stop halfway, you may miss important information that’s revealed at the end of the passage. besides, you may develop new thoughts after reading the entire passage / paragraph.
look for literary devices you know, your metaphors, allusions, similes, personifications, etc etc etc. it’s good to be familiar with literary devices because they will often give an insight to the story and frequently become relevant to questions on the test / writing things. here’s a good site on literary devices.
hope this helped and good luck! if you’d like to request a post, go here and if you’d like to see more helpful posts, go here !! thanks :)
The God of War in Roman mythology went by mars. Second in power to the one and only Jupiter. Many of the myths surrounding Mars tie in with the Greek’s own warrior, Ares. Mars, however, was much more impulsive and aggressive than Ares. Mars was also viewed as more noble and virtuous than his Greek counterpart because he was the defender of Rome and the city’s borders. In astrology, if Venus is your femininity, then Mars would be your masculinity. Venus is the cooperative part of yourself that makes people want to like you. She’s charismatic, charming, and knows how to win people over. Mars, on the other hand, is that part of you that drives you to fight and protect. He’s aggressive, impolite, defensive, and intimidating. Mars represents your drive, anger, motivation, and how you defend yourself. Mars shows how you go out and chase down what you want. He’s motivated, always productive, moving forward. Venus is harmonious. Mars is destructive. Venus pleases others, Mars pleases himself above all else, therefore, this is where our violent tempers and selfish behaviors come from. Venus knows how to say things to win people over, painting her words wisely so that everything comes out sounding charming and considerate. Everything Mars says, on the other hand, comes out blunt, on the spot, and can be rude and inconsiderate. Does Mars care? No. Mars is ruled jointly by Aries and Scorpio, being exalted in Capricorn. He’s in detriment in Taurus and Libra, and then falling in Cancer.
The glyph we use for Mars (♂) is the alchemy symbol for iron, but it’s better known as the symbol for males. It’s a combination of an arrow atop a circle, symbolizing someone being driven forwards towards their desire. It’s speculated to depict both a phallic symbol and a violent one.
Rulership/Exaltation/Detriment/Fall
Mars is ruled by Aries and Scorpio combined. Aries is the warrior, making Scorpio the assassin. Aries represents the tactless, explosive half of Mars. Aries is the half of Mars that destroys cities and countries at the snap of a finger. Impulsive, aggressive, and angry, Aries takes thrill in fighting and battles. When Aries is mad, you know. Aries makes their intentions known and handles it promptly. Scorpio, on the other hand, is more tactful and secretive; the silent killer. You never really know where you stand with Scorpio. They hide how they’re really feeling until they’ve truly planned out how they’re going to strike, and then, look out, because when they sting you, it’s hard to recover. Both of these signs radiate a lot of yang-energy. They’re both driven, ambitious, dominant, aggressive, and intimidating. Capricorn is where Mars is exalted, something that’s often forgotten. Capricorn isn’t necessarily outwardly aggressive, but the sign entirely encompasses drive in and of itself. Capricorn is truly a goat, always climbing up the mountain, never stopping, always trying to succeed and do better. Capricorn is the part of Mars that will trample over someone else just for their own success.
Taurus and Libra are where the God of War is weakened and lost. His yang-energy become suppressed and overwhelmed by the submissive yin-energy of these two signs. Libra is too worried about what other people think of them to call people out, afraid of making a scene. Libra is also very independent and needs to learn and practice independence. Libra also tries to rationalize everything and make excuses for even the most inexcusable things. Taurus, on the other hand, is driven but is very reluctant to change and is very stubborn. They don’t really have angry outbursts; they just prefer to keep everything inside until they explode. Both need to prioritize their own sanity before that of everyone else. Cancer is where Mars has fallen. Cancer’s nature is nurturing and connecting. Mars’ nature is to destroy and burn bridges. When Mars is in Cancer, we see civil wars and dysfunctional families. I kind of envision this placement trying to cook something and burning the entire house down because they were impatient and wanted to speed up the process.
Astrological Meaning
I mentioned earlier in the article that if Venus is your femininity, then Mars would be your masculinity. Venus wants people to like her. Mars doesn’t care who does or doesn’t like him. He is a warrior through and through. Astrologically, Mars represents how you chase after what you want. Mars is very self-oriented, in opposition to Venus’ relationship-oriented nature. Venus shows how you attract; Mars shows how you fight for what you want. Mars represents your temper, your desire, and your motivation. Mars shows how you please yourself, but it’s different from self-care. Mars shows how you find personal power within yourself and use it to conquer whatever obstacles you may encounter. However, it’s literally infamous at this point that when you set boundaries with people, they often cause conflict. Where Mars lies in your natal chart is where conflict erupts. At Mars’ core, the planet represents who you become when you free yourself of the constriction of societal pressure and are yourself, regardless of if people like it or not. Mars is blunt, straightforward, and doesn’t give a damn what people think. He doesn’t care if he comes off as inconsiderate, he just says it and moves on. Mars is also the embodiment of a competitive spirit. When you channel Mars energy in conflict, you use your words or your fists to rip someone apart and tear their ego limb from limb. When and how you release all of this aggressive energy is entirely dependent upon your sign and the house placement.
A healthy Mars is brave, confident, outspoken, and chooses battles wisely. When Mars is in balance, you think before you speak. You recognize the weight of your words and actions, as well as the possibility of saying or doing something that’s irreversible and unforgivable. You fight for what you believe in and you have the courage to defend yourself and others against opponents and tyrants. You use Mars to survive and keep moving every day. If you think about it, just taking the first step to get out of bed every morning is Mars energy in a simplistic form. We use Mars to wage wars, fight for our rights, climb the corporate ladder, and defeat tyrannical overlords. However, because his energy is so powerful, and humans naturally crave power, it’s easy to overdose on. With Mars comes the urge to overbear, destroy, and dominate everything around you.
When Mars is too prominent in your chart, you’re hyper-masculine (regardless of gender), and you become entitled, selfish, and rude. You’re overwhelming to be around and erratic. You lack self-control because you’re so numb to everybody else’s feelings. It’s one thing to not care what other people think, but it’s another thing to just be plain old rude and insensitive for the hell of it. When Mars is overly rampant in your chart, you’re impulsive and jump onto every whim that stirs up even a tiny bit of excitement. You don’t care about how your actions affect everybody else. You’re also probably violent and will fight just to show your power over everyone else. You scare people just because feeling like you have power over people fills a void. When Mars is too heavy in your chart, you become a bully.
When Mars is too weak in your chart, you’re cowardly and insecure. You become a doormat for everyone to just trample over. You have no drive, no motivation, and no boundaries. You don’t know how to call people out when they’re abusing their power, and you don’t want to because you don’t want to rock the boat. You lie awake at night, fearful of what other people think of you. You need to become more self-assured and recognize your own personal power. When your power is stripped away from you, you’re likely to become bitter and resentful, and still end up lashing out on other people as an overcompensation for how lost you feel. Neither Mars extreme is good for anyone.

what does your bio mean? "the sea was never blue" ?
Homer used two adjectives to describe aspects of the colour blue: kuaneos, to denote a dark shade of blue merging into black; and glaukos, to describe a sort of ‘blue-grey’, notably used in Athena’s epithet glaukopis, her ‘grey-gleaming eyes’. He describes the sky as big, starry, or of iron or bronze (because of its solid fixity). The tints of a rough sea range from ‘whitish’ (polios) and ‘blue-grey’ (glaukos) to deep blue and almost black (kuaneos, melas). The sea in its calm expanse is said to be ‘pansy-like’ (ioeides), ‘wine-like’ (oinops), or purple (porphureos). But whether sea or sky, it is never just ‘blue’. In fact, within the entirety of ancient Greek literature you cannot find a single pure blue sea or sky.
— The Sea Was Never Blue, Maria Michela Sassi
What, from a cursory glance, appears blue generally has more to say. You lift a precious stone to the sunlight and it lights up, it refracts, but there’s always a side you can’t see. If you think you’ve thought of it all, think a little longer. There’s always more to consider.
lol. I have no idea what to put in a description. Does this describe me?! ok i confused myself... side blog @productivelily102
