Hello! I'm Zeef! I have a degree in history and I like to ramble! I especially like the middle ages and renaissance eras of Europe, but I have other miscellaneous places I like too!

Personally I've always dreamed of being a renaissance era collections curator for a lord's curiosity cabinet. I've passed myself off as a man, of course, stating that I caught an illness as a child which hindered my growth. I become a trusted and close friend to the lord between my travels to collect things for him, to the point that he offers me his eldest daughter's hand in marriage. The two of us have been having romantic exchanges through letters for quite some time so I accept (she knows very well I am a woman and not a man and this is what prompts our relationship to begin with). Through a series of 'unfortunate' events I, as the husband of his eldest daughter, gain the lord's land and possessions upon his death. That means I get to keep all the pretty old things for myself.
I think my dream job would be a medieval explorer who travels the world and then describes various animals I’ve seen on my travels to the illustrators of bestiaries
Are you polish?
nope
Friendly reminder that this is technically my main blog but I am actually using and reblogging on my blog @r-we-taire-yet so I'll follow you on this blog and like your posts on this blog and then reblog stuff on there!

A loaf of bread made in the first century AD, which was discovered at Pompeii, preserved for centuries in the volcanic ashes of Mount Vesuvius. The markings visible on the top are made from a Roman bread stamp, which bakeries were required to use in order to mark the source of the loaves, and to prevent fraud. (via Ridiculously Interesting)
More dumb magic items for your D&D campaign:
A sword that inflicts emotional wounds
A hat that, when left alone with another hat, will mate and produce hybrid offspring
Negative gold pieces
A map that is the territory
Armour that becomes more effective the uglier the wearer
A living pocket-watch that never needs winding, but if you don’t feed it, it dies; it’s an obligate carnivore
Goggles that put censor bars over monsters of the Aberration type
An instructional tome in the secret language of ducks
A dagger that glows in the presence of one particular goblin
Angry shoes
I apologize to everyone I'm spamming with notes rn. I've gotten a new fixation and it's critical role and I am just going through blogs and liking things.
what’s the mood for july?
It can be hard to remember how to properly address your noble or royal characters when writing a fantasy court. Here is a quick guide:
Usually addressed as either “Your Grace” or “Your Majesty”. Consort (married to a ruler and not reigning in their own right) can be addressed the same. Sire or Madam can be used also.
They are addressed as “Your Highness”. They are NEVER addressed the same as a King or Queen
These are addressed with “Your Grace”. This was a common term also used by royalty before Henry VIII got to big for his codpiece.
Are almost never referred as the “Earl of Narnia” but “Lord Narnia”.
An easy one. They are called “My Lord” or “My Lady”.
These may be equal to a King/Queen for status but the have a grander title. They are only addressed as “Your Imperial Highness/Majesty”
I hope this helps when writing your court or fantasy novel.
“Ew you’re a guy and like the color pink are you gay?”
I think it’s really insulting that westerners talk about communism. y'all had it too good and now y'all are being spoiled little brats. let me talk to you about the women and men executed and how their bodies were thrown out of trains and the basic food being rationed so harshly that we actually started black markets for fucking sugar and oil and let me talk to you about how they used to spy on everyone, we had mikes in our homes, how they made kids rat on each other and how controlled the education was. lights went out at 7. my parents used to study by a candle. everything. was. controlled. everyone. was. oppressed.
If you were a vegetable you’d be a cute-cumber (don’t question my weirdness)
Lol who is this

So sometimes I see bros on the internet talk about how women couldn’t have worn armor historically, because it was too heavy for them.
Here is a picture of me wearing armor when I was a nerdy 14-year-old girl who was about 5 feet tall and weighed less than 95 pounds. I sometimes wore it for 6 hours straight in summer heat, and I would run and turn summersaults in it for fun.
And before you start asking: this was authentic full steel plate with a padded arming doublet underneath. It weighed so much that I couldn’t carry the plastic tub it was stored in on my own. It was heavy. But once I was wearing it I just felt like I was being hugged or wrapped up in a really heavy blanket. That’s how armor works. The whole point is that the weight is distributed across your whole body, and your whole body can lift a huge amount. It has nothing to do with how strong you are or how much you can bench.
So if you think women are too weak to wear armor, you are wrong on so many levels. It does not even matter if you believe in your little misogynistic heart that all women are defined by their physical inferiority when compared to men, because you are also just wrong about how armor works. Even skinny teen girls can wear armor just fine. Everyone can wear armor.
100 years of Restored Lithuania - the reason behind today’s celebration. When in 1918 on the 16th of February 20 signatories signed the Act of Reinstating Independence of Lithuania.
Centuries ago our nation started building a country which became a small but strong pagan state known as Lietuva and grew into the biggest European country - Lietuvos Didžioji Kunigaikštystė (The Grand Duchy of Lithuania). We went through a period of Christianization and Union with the Kingdom of Poland, then disappeared from the map by the end of 18th century as Russian Empire and Prussia shared and occupied our lands.
Our language and culture where being slowly pushed towards extinction but due to people who believed that we as Lithuanians must survive our native heritage stayed alive throughout the harsh occupations.
The original Act of Reinstated Independence was secretly taken to Berlin and printed out by free speech newspapers who helped to spread the news in Europe that Lithuanians are creating our country anew. This was followed by over 20 years of Independence, a long period of Nazi and Soviet occupations and finally the Act of the Re-Establishment of the State of Lithuania in 1990 the 11th of March when we restored our Independence for the second time.
Our nation bears a long and complicated history which involves a great number of other nations (as well as religions) beside. Whether those connections were positive or negative they played a part that influenced Lithuania as a country that we know today.
Therefore I would like congratulate all people of Lithuania. Whether you are Lithuanian by blood or by heart. Whether you were born in Lithuania or outside of it. Whether your native tongue is Lithuanian or another beautiful language. Whether you are atheist, pagan, Christian or professing other religions and beliefs. All of you are creating Lithuania that is today and will be in the future. Let’s make the second century that is starting today memorable and develope Lithuania into a country where all of its people would have a right to live and create a decent life.
Su gimtadieniu, Lietuva!
So as maybe some of you know, I’m in college now. After a lot of thought, about my past and my future, I decided to change this blog into a general blog, mostly history related. I love Europe! I love Lithuania! I want to be able to talk my interests outside of the contexts of Hetalia, considering while it did get me into researching more than it had, and I wouldn’t have fallen in love with Lithuania if I hadn’t watched the show, I feel like I can’t communicate with blogs relating to history and stuff and be taken seriously. So, this blog that was @ask-cosplay-nyo-lithuania is now this! I’m still around and stuff if you want to chat, I’m just going to be talking about more real stuff than an anime.
For people who will know me after this post, I was a big fan of hetalia for years because I had a love for European History and the show inspired me to look into new places and new times. Please don’t hold that against me! I know how the fandom has been in the past, and I know it’s rough, but I am serious about history, and I want to go into research, potentially becoming a professor one day. I plan on going to grad school, probably going into anthropology, and using my skills to help people learn more about the past.
It's basically Les Mis set in His Dark Materials, but the only major thing is the daemons. It's a story shipping Enjolras and Grantaire also. Basically it's "What if they escaped the barricade and also had daemons". If you don't know His Dark Materials, it's okay, because the concept of daemons isn't hard to explain so I can help you out! I need help with les amis and picking daemons for everyone. Please message me if you want to hear about the story/ if you want to help!
❤ thank you for being so sweet!!!

you know that trope in shows or movies where the evil character is in captivity and starts talking to the Heroes to try and mess with their minds, and starts analysing them going “face it you’ll never be good enough” … “you try to act tough but inside you’re broken” … and the Hero gets really rattled and upset.
well i want a scene like that where it doesn’t work
Villain: “You have a darkness inside of you. You try to hide it, but it’s there–”
Hero: “Yeah that’s the depression, there’s pills for that.”
Villain: “You try every day to make your mother proud. Even after death, it still haunts you. But she’ll never be proud of.”
Hero: “Well yeah, she was an emotionally abusive narcissist, she was never proud of anything I did, what else is new.”
Villain: “You put on a good show, but deep inside I know you don’t feel worthy.”
Hero: “I know, man, I’ve been trying to work on that in therapy.”
Like… give me characters who know they’re mentally ill and traumatised who can’t have it used against them because they’ve fully accepted it
I'm fine ignore me
