à»ê± . TRAINEE MISSION # 17 _ NOSTALGIA REVIEWă
it is to no one surprise that liliâs least favorite week was week 5 and no we will not elaborate because liliâs headache throughout rehearsals should be enough of an explanation.
she was rather pouty and mouthy ( to any ear that listened ) about the song choices but when it came time to actually performing, like the hypocrite she is, she smiled and sang like she hadnât just bad-mouthed each song the week prior to performing it.
funnily enough, liliâs favorite week was probably week 6 because she enjoyed âttâ the most. not only was it the most vocally challenging of the songs they had to perform during this stint, she found herself having fun performing it as well â understanding just why people liked it, in the end.Â
she probably got a little too into character during the performance with her pouts.
one thing lili knows how to do is be charming and she thinks ( SHE THINKS ) her charm was shown the best during week 6âs performance.
from rehearsals to their subsequent performance, lili finds herself craving the stage more than she usually does. maybe it has something to do with the fact that they were building up for something â maybe it was the fact that with each week came a new performance and that only sparked a new sense of fulfillment in her; whatever it was, by the end of the program, lili finds herself a little sad that it had ended so soon despite her many ( many ) complaints.
she, surely, complained a bit too much to chaekyung and is still sore that chaekyung did not bring her to the nurse when she said her headache was life or death.
while lili prizes herself as an all-rounder performer, sheâs realizing that being an all-rounder also means being able to cover for her peers when they fall short and not only does lili fail in that regard, she loses sight when she puts rapping and similiar low-toned range performances on the back-burner. another that she finds herself shirking is the way she portrays herself in her performances as a performer, being away from the stage had set in her a precedent of comfortability that she needs to ease off of â she needs to want it again, to not be okay with being comfortable, she needs to succeed in its light rather than just be on stage. she wants to shine.Â

a complaint is already halfway up her throat, almost to her lips, when she bites it down. the warmth a very necessary welcome to limbs that were nearly tinted blue from the cold.Â
does lili say her thanks â no, instead she smiles and says, âbut this coat doesnât match my dress.â all while buttoning the coat up and swallowing herself into its warmth. admitting defeat in the most quietest of ways.
it was parker, she thought waving a white flag this once in his presence would be fine.
her first white flag of the year â who knew it would happen this soon.
she muddles over the information parker passes over, almost whining as he skips over the best parts â âokay, but what about the dirty stuff, they sound nice and all but they have to have some cons, right?âÂ
and it wasnât lili if she didnât have a good pro and con for everyone she met. like for parker â pro: he was kind, con: he was so kind he was a bit naggy in a do what i say or it will break my heart kinda way and lili didnât like to make a habit of letting people down like that.
least of all the people she thought of as hers.
Parker plays up the pain of Liliâs kick with a hop away and a small hiss, though barely any pain registered. He had certainly been kicked harder by his real sisters, but even as he had somehow become the older brother of some, especially the group he was meeting up with for Lunar New Year, he couldnât pretend to be completely mature.
âItâs the girl whoâs going to be sick the rest of the break,â he comments with a roll of his eyes. He is already shrugging off his coat and forcing it over Liliâs shoulders with the roughness of someone who already knows theyâre going to be refused but has no intention of taking their coat back. A bit of his red button-down can be seen between his scarf and the thick half-zip he had on under his coat; itâs warm enough for this distance to the restaurant, though he is not thinking about how heâs getting home yet. Maybe a drink or two will help. âTheyâll like you just fine as long as youâre not sick over dinner.âÂ
He tips his head to indicate she should follow him but in truly Lili fashion sheâs already pulling him along. âYou really donât need to impress them too much; theyâre trainees like you areâ or well⊠one of them is.â Itâs been so long since heâs talked to Yuxi that sometimes he forgets she more than six months prior. âYichen is really nice, and YuxiâŠâ he faulters in his steps to think of the best way to describe the other girl. âHonestly, I think youâll like her. Sheâs a wannabe cool girl like you.âÂ
There really aren't very many people around the point they meet up, but the closer they get to Daerim-dong, the more people seem to pop up. While a good deal of the Korean residents are with their families, the official Chinatown shows more life with red and gold decorations.
nearly wincing at the sound his straw makes as it makes contact with itâs plastic borders, a hand raises to stop him â already feeling the overdramatic and too real ache of a migraine rumbling at her temples. âplease stop.â ignoring the fact that it would be her first and only time she ever uttered please in his presence.Â
she tilts her head at that â confusion filtering through her features within seconds. âwhy else would we have coffee?â and lili was far too prideful to head over to jieunâs truck, even if the dessert selection did appear yummier from the looks of the cute banners. âi think theyâd rather have a thank you from you though,â her eyes run from him to the workers behind the counter who obviously havenât taken their eyes off of the actor since his appearance before the stand.
âwhy donât you honor them that pretty little actor smile they all love?âÂ
she almost has to laugh, though, seeing hyunsoo in his element had been interesting. it was definitely a glaring contrast to seeing him at some stuffy party filled with obnoxious social climbers and money-grubbers.Â
âhardly â just some annoyance that wonât stop bothering me. maybe you know her.â she fishes for her phone before revealing to him the long list of messages from his mother lili hadnât bothered replying to.Â
There are a number of coincidences that happen within industry when one comes from the background that Hyunsoo does. It becomes inevitable. Children of executives offered positions at studios or pushed into roles by overbearing mothers, bored socialites figuring they will make their acting debut. The industry has and always will reek of nepotism and advantages taken with money.
Needless to say, seeing Lili on the film set comes as little to no shock. Not for any reasons listed prior â on the contrary, he is certain her determination has landed her there just as his did. She would not be subject to walking around in a plague doctor mask ( faceless ) had she a say in the matter and he knows it. And, perhaps, she would not seem so displeased to see him.
To meet her halfway, He pushes past a few young murmuring staff members; of whom giggled amongst themselves when he stood back in awe of his gifted coffee truck. ( Pictures of himself are plastered along the sides on posters that would soon be torn for the next gig. )
"Why are you thanking me? You should be thanking them, too," voice laced with what can only be described as a hint of sarcasm, he reaches for the iced americano, stretching the straw in and out of it with an agonizing scrape before he takes a sip. "You seem particularly... snippy today. What's wrong? Displeased with the movie's premise?"
âand it doesnât bother you at all?â insane. absolute insanity. country folk were definitely built different, lili thinks.
âa bit.â she mumbles, even if she could still smell the horrible stench of chicken poop, it did help a little â enough that lili couldnât keep herself from winding her arms around the other girl out of gratitude, as if the smallest gesture had somehow warmed liliâs frozen heart in a matter of seconds.Â
she wouldnât call the other her life savior but it was a start, wasnât it?
she smiles beneath the cloth, a laugh teetering at the tip of her tongue. âwhat would i have done without you?â probably suffered the rest of the day and then some, but she cuts to the chase. pulling herself off the other girl as she stabilizes her squat and stares into the dirt. âi just wish there was something i could spray into it, though. maybe it would help it.â

jaekyung was a perceptive person. she could tell that some took to their variety location less enthusiastic than others. if she'd been a born city girl, perhaps she'd been the same. however growing up on a farm on the country side equipped her with skills that fortunately lead her to approach this outing with a feeling of nostalgia and joy while breathing through the tasks with an ease only someone familiar with the tasks could portray.
"I'm used to it," she thus tells lili as the girl falls down into a crouch beside her. exhibit a of classic city girl. "I grew up on a farm. so this isn't anything new for me," the girl continues to reason with a grin on her lips.
she did however take pity on the poor female who was obviously having a bad time. not wanting her to receive potential bad feedback from the moment this went live, jaekyung decided to help her out. "come here. I have an idea." taking her gloves off she made use of the towel that hung close by, sure to do a quick sniff test before she tied it in a way that would allow lili's nose to remain covered and hopefully kill some of the smell. "better?"
à»ê± . LGCâS CHARITY CONCERT # 2024  ă
in hindsight, if lili knew where she would be assigned to perform â maybe she would have chosen songs that were better suited for the environment. singing about loneliness in front of five year olds in a language they were less than acquainted with was not what lili had pictured when she had submitted her song lists to the coaches all those weeks ago.
if they had been given the heads up, maybe she would have thrown in a few more dance songs rather than singing about a love yearned or a love missed. lili had definitely missed her target audience by a long shot. a part of her wishes she had traded with someone else from day 1 â now, it was too late to wish, much too late to regret.
and without much thought of much else â it wasnât like she had much choice to do anything other than what she had prepared â she lays her regrets in the back of her head. her confidence shot, her song choices shoddy at best, she was at odds with herself by the time it came for her last time at the mic.
as sheâs begun her final song â had watched as the kidsâ eyes rolled to the back of their heads at her last song â she could already imagine the chorus of internal groans at how another slow song was ready to leave her lips.
and yet, she carries herself as sheâs always done; her confidence had always been something as strong as a mountainâs will; nothing could truly shake her, even if her crowd was less than thrilled at her song choices, she sings as if theyâre all dying for an encore ( instead of the other way around ) â the heartache in her voice probably going over their heads â but she learns, as the last of the song departs her; the mist in the eyes of the centerâs employees is hard to miss her gaze. and with that, lili is satisfied.
at least, lili could say she touched someoneâs heart this holiday season.
âwould it be so bad if i said i didnât mind a kfc,â now who was she and what had she done with xu lili? the girl who complained about the smell of fried chicken oil and how it would induce a zillion and one underground pimples by morning seemed to be nowhere to be seen. âat least they would welcome our presence.âÂ
would they make a cake out of chicken legs if she mentioned that it was her birthday?
âyea ââ her eyes drift to her heels, âfor sure, definitely not dressed for anything outdoorsy. letâs also not climb any hills, i donât think my body can take any more stress.â she knows seoul is made up of nothing but hills but if anything, it was a subtle yet desperate plea for a taxi ride rather than slumming it in the subway.
her steps begin to slow as she thinks over the options more seriously, feeling the chill in the air as she suddenly comes to a stop and is not incensed by the warmth from walking. âmmm, iâd say warm and cozy. anything but cold, please.â
"we can make it work, even if its..." jisoo side eyes lili, "a hole in the wall." at this point, most things truly were closed around this time, but he's sure there were some homely mom and pop shops, or businesses that knew they could take advantage of these days, where everyone else had off. "i promise, i am not dragging you to KFC or anything that defaults in that direction." that would make it even more of an unhappy birthday now, wouldn't it?
"but you didn't even have a birthday cake... we're going to have to remedy that." hopefully it didn't mean him baking one but if it had to happen. if his eye does a slight twitch, jisoo doesn't comment.
"not to be completely lacking adventure, it is not about me and i'd rather not completely misguide it so would you prefer something warm, or cold, relaxing... cozy, or random and," heaven forbid, "i am not going to give you the option of outdoorsy because a, we aren't dressed for it and b, i'd rather us not end up sick."
ON ENEMY LINES. soapsuds will never quench her taste buds â @lgcxmimi
part of her wonders where the hell was this soap when she was surrounded by nothing but chicken shit. ugh, talk about timing â the stench of the herbal suds were giving her a headache, a migraine, whatever that now seemed to cease the further she got away from the numerous boxes that were currently hoarding the unsold bars.Â
what was more aggravating than the overwhelming smell was how unfair the sales were. how the fuck were they supposed to even sell soaps? if these village hicks couldnât sell it, did they think some city dwellers who spent their days dancing hours on end in the basement could?Â
she frowns, they really must have hit the rock bottom of variety television.
chancing upon one of the younger girls, she reaches out with her own bill to them. not caring if she was aiding the âenemyâ â she needed a drink, and at least theirs would give her a temporary quench to whatever ailment she was suffering from.
âcan i get one?â her head tilts to the jug at the side.
à»ê± .  TRAINEE MISSION # 16 ăINTERVIEW .
lili had never been the spill your guts, vulnerable in front of the camera kind of person.
but she likens this scenario as a part to play. a role she must succeed to in order to get to where she must. and where that place is is where people liked that vulnerable in front of the camera, spill your silly guts kind of crap.Â
so, lili does what she can â musters up the silly little guts that would get her somewhat of a good standing and puts on that darling, pretty smile her grandma loves.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT FOR TODAY ?
âmy favorite? it has to be ââ she racks her brain for something memorable that happened today: she had almost fell in chicken shit â it literally was everywhere, it was probably all up in the grooves of her boots â the smell was permanently stuck in her nose no matter what jaekyung had tried, she was tired â lili did not want to revisit such a memory. and yet, here she re-tells the tale like it was some funny comedic sketch that had brought her to her tears in joy and jest. a darling smile brought to her lips even if the only thing she wished to say was that she was thankful that the day was finally over. âgetting to see all the cute chickens, we even got to see some eggs hatch in the incubator, it was really cool. iâve never seen that before.â
HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT THE CHALLENGE GIVEN TO YOUR TEAM ?
âhard.â probably the most truthful thing sheâll utter this weekend â and it was only friday. despite grinning and bearing it for what she could, today had really done a number for her. âbearing through the chicken coop was ⊠an experience, i was honestly kind of scared â i thought the chickens would attack us. can you imagine getting chased by a chicken?â she shudders at the horror of the thought, for effect.
WHO DID YOU FEEL YOU GOT CLOSER TO ?
she pauses, thinking about it for a good second. even if most of the day she had stuck herself, like glue, to jiah, lili couldnât deny that there had been quite a number of trainees she had inadvertently gotten closer to. not that she could help it, in between biting her tongue at the complaints that wished spill from her tongue, she knew the others could tell she was having a hard time and, in the end, was thankful for those who helped to make her dire experience even just a sniff better. âiâd say jaekyung? she even offered her towel to me when she saw that i was struggling.â sure, lili was being a tad bit dramatic but the stench was truly nauseating, the viewers would be glad theyâd didnât see lili hurl.
WHAT WAS ONE LESSON YOUâVE LEARNED FROM THIS EXPERIENCE ?
nothing. lili learned absolutely nothing â she wished to say, but knows that isnât what they came here for. that that wasnât what the viewers wanted to hear. so instead, lili works the courage of what a menial, less troublesome, more humble person would think: she knew no one of this manner so she was struggling but she makes do â âthat itâs good for all of us to take a moment to slow down and feel the wind in our hair.â something like that, right?
âall the aunties here were super cute, too, maybe their fashion sense here is another lesson to remember.âÂ
lili had never thought her social battery was one with a limit â but today, it seemed to exist in bursts. teetering on its last legs as she lets zoeâs drawl come in one ear with a nod and a small, passing smile when it goes out the other. it wasnât that she was tired or anything but there was only so much energy could exert and unfortunately, much of it had been placed on emphasis when for the first time in the last four hours she had finally tried to try her luck in selling these goddamn soap bars that just were not their consumerâs target product today.
soap â she thinks, while sipping on the cup of juice she had snatched up from emi earlier â why had it been soap?
âmm,â she says in reply, setting her cup beside her on the bench. biting her tongue when zoe mentions luck â and sure, maybe the others did have luck on their side. even if the unspoken advantage was a tell-tale sign of it all.Â
âgrace, huh?â
losing with grace had never been her style but lili liked that that was how it seemed despite everything.Â
âi wouldnât be hyping up the food too much, if itâs anything like yesterday, the food will probably not be to the best expectations.â again, lili was not looking forward to being dressed to her elbows in misplaced vegetable chunks that did not make it onto the cutting board. her heel kicks gently at the ground with a small wry laugh, âyouâd think because itâs our last day theyâd treat us to a nice meal, i could really go for some ginseng chicken soup.âÂ
she didnât want to complain â scratch that, this was lili â all she did was complain.Â

Zoe leaned back against the weathered wooden bench, relishing a moment of calm amid the bustling marketplace. The frenetic energy of the morning's sales still echoed in her mind, but now, with a satisfied smile, she turned her attention to Lili. She had seen her around Legacy before, so Zoe was grateful to get a chance to talk with her really.
"Can you believe how quickly today flew by? Team Juice really nailed it!" Zoe exclaimed, a glimmer of triumph in her eyes. She felt a swell of pride for their team's success, knowing they had earned a well-deserved break while the other teams took over the cooking duties.
Glancing at Lili, Zoe acknowledged her friend's efforts. "I guess luck was just on our side today," she remarked, reaching for her water bottle to quench her thirst. "But hey, don't stress too much about it. You did fantastic out there, and now we get to enjoy a scrumptious meal thanks to Team Soap Bar!"
Zoe's curiosity got the better of her as they continued chatting over their lunch. "By the way, how was your challenge with selling soap bars?" she asked, genuinely interested in Lili's experience. "I know it was a tough crowd out there, but you always handle it with grace."
