my father told me once to never date anyone who talks smoothly around you from the start because if someone likes you they should be a little nervous and honestly i think that’s some of the best advice anyone has ever given me

I stand in the path of the wind rushing, a stampede through my bedroom, something inside me is cooking. I feed on the sight of the sun sinking into the mist below hills and trees that sway and rock on their feet like captives, stationary, bending to the will of a mighty force in motion, something is starting, perhaps foreboding. I listen to voices of those, uttering in a language I am not born to understand, and it would be asking too much to know what they say, and know what they know, the rain falls as the sky gives in, too much inside. Clouds pass, orange fades into blue beyond blackened hair like dread, the trees are taking deep breaths, plucking drips pierce the fuzz of the wind and the gasp of motors and wheels turning far off. The ones that despise the clouds are the ones quick to forget that when the sky opens it’s eyes and bares it’s teeth the cold bites bone deep. Slicing, searing, dicing up fingers and toes and I smell smoke in the air, and I know something is cooking.

‘Because…’ Lupin hesitated, ‘because these mapmakers would have wanted to lure you out of school. They’d think it extremely entertaining.’ ‘Do you know them?’ Said Harry, impressed. ‘We’ve met.’ He said shortly.

Physics says: go to sleep. Of course you’re tired. Every atom in you has been dancing the shimmy in silver shoes nonstop from mitosis to now. Quit tapping your feet. They’ll dance inside themselves without you. Go to sleep. Geology says: it will be all right. Slow inch by inch America is giving itself to the ocean. Go to sleep. Let darkness lap at your sides. Give darkness an inch. You aren’t alone. All of the continents used to be one body. You aren’t alone. Go to sleep. Astronomy says: the sun will rise tomorrow, Zoology says: on rainbow-fish and lithe gazelle, Psychology says: but first it has to be night, so Biology says: the body-clocks are stopped all over town and History says: here are the blankets, layer on layer, down and down.

My only regret is that I didn’t tell enough people to fuck off.

Hi, I’m Milo, from Melbourne, Australia. Melbourne can be a difficult city in some ways to photograph, but I love that it is relatively small and varies quite a bit in some areas, so getting from different sides are a brisk walk away.
Whilst I’m only young and have been photographing for a handful of years, I feel a unity between myself and my work.
