Like, is my blood that delicious or are they just out here bein’ outta control? “

laurel paused with a small smirk on her face--needless to say she was a little starstruck. she knew eevee masters lived here in portland but never she thought luck would be on her side to run into her. “mosquitos are normally attracted to high body temperature. take it as a compliment that you’re literally just that hot.” she smiled. “my husband and i were obsessed with your show. we binge-watched the entire first season together in one night.” laurel’s voice lowered as she reminisced that he wasn’t around for the rest of them.

“You think I’ve never tried to catch things in my mouth before? Please, give me a bit of the credit. I can catch it, I used to do it in school and people would place bets. I won so much money.” The French girl smirked, pulling her hair up into a high ponytail, arching her back in the oversized band t-shirt she was wearing with underwear as her pyjamas. Was anything that just came out of her mouth factual? It sure as hell was not but Laurel had no way of knowing that so it was a compelling thing to go along with. Licking her lips she snapped her teeth a couple of times with a wiggle of her eyebrows, playing up to the joke from the other. “I am amazing with my mouth, you have no idea.” With a quick wink she hit her palms against her thighs a couple of times. “Allons-y, I am ready!”

Rory talked so fast Laurel would consistently repeat what she said over and over in her head. She wondered what she was like before her life in Portland, and every day she aimed to learn more about her. “Your life stories sound like fever dreams. One time I fell on the sidewalk and landed above a sewage grate and saw something gleaming in the dark and saw that a diamond ring had fallen inside and I created a contraption with the supplies in my satchel to retrieve it. Pawned it and paid the next three months rent with that cash.” Laurel smirked at Rory’s statement. “Is there a French way of saying ‘That’s what she said’?” She licked her lips, gaze focused on her mouth. Laurel angled her elbow, fingers pinching the popcorn, and released her grip, watching it lob in the air.

You joke but Bryant could use a big sister. Just saying. Yeah he loves the vegetable medley juice boxes so thats a plus but he doesn’t like peas now…

“So the game goes like this: as I try to toss this piece of popcorn in your mouth, you gotta move your head around to catch it. The trick is to use your tongue.” Laurel wiggled into her spot on the couch, clad in her Snoopy pajama shorts, right beside Rory. It had only been a couple months since she moved in with her and Mason, but Rory didn’t shy away from asking Laurel to run to the grocery store for a candy bar or to refill her Arizonas--she definitely made herself at home. After all, it’s what Laurel offered her anyway. “You should be really good at this since you really know how to move that mouth,” she teased.

"What’s your favorite scary movie? And, no, I don’t mean that in a scary Ghostface way, but what is your favorite scary movie? And why? I’m asking simply for research. Research for what? Don’t ask.”

“You did what?” Mason questioned, “Dude, that’s so not fair, where’s the invites? Omg did you go with Ror? That’s real rude if you did…” Mason huffed, clutching his heart in feigned hurt, “But you know what, that’s what you get for leaving me out, yeah, payback by karma!” Not that Mason was having a top-of-the-notch morning himself, but Laurel didn’t need to know that she was the third customer he messed up this morning, he just wished he had a cooler reason to be sleep deprived, “Oh hey, market on me!”

“To be fair, I thought you were completely knocked out on the couch again and thought it’d be rude of me to wake you from your beauty sleep. Not that you need anymore of it,” she complimented, punctuated with a wink. “I was thinking of inviting Rory and then remembered a week ago I thought I heard her say something about having a dream where she drowned me and thought it’d be best to just... not. I love that woman--but I also love being alive.”

“That’s my problem though--I have no idea how to market it. What do I say to you? Would you like me to wax your eyebrows and add glitter to your lids?”

Cammy smirked, hearing the other woman’s forwardness. “Smooth,” she mildly teased. “Maybe I can, but I’d like to get a name first. After all, going into stranger’s houses is definitely a risky thing to do. Horror movie one-oh-one, right?”

“Laurel Walker,” she stated proudly, as if using her married name from an illegitimate marriage was something to carry with pride. “And you passed my test. It only validated my reasoning to ask you out. I’m the assistant manager over at Crossroads. I have a cat named Einstein. And my favorite food is macaroni and cheese. See? Now we’re not strangers.”

“Well I don’t mind a good challenge. It’s nice to meet you though, Laurel Walker,” she replied with a little bit of a cheeky smirk with her response. She then said, “So now that we’re not total strangers, I’d like to take you up on you having asking me out. Just let me know when and where.”

“Would it be too forward if I said: my place?” Laurel giggled. “No, but I figured it could have been a while since a real sweetheart took you out. Why don’t I keep the where a surprise and the when could be: this Friday night? I can pick you up at 6?”
