While I sit, taking a break from being frustrated at genshin impact, I want to talk about something that you probably won't find in other areas. This post is for my hypersexual people out there, so if that triggers you, please move onto another post.

I recently had someone ask me, how to deal with hypersexuality if you do not want to masturbate, or look at sexual material or anything. And this goes for the younger people out here that might not be old enough to involve themselves in safe sexual communities. But you can be an adult and still find this advice useful, it's for everyone to keep in mind.

Hypersexuality is a coping mechanism, usually coming from a traumatic experience or something similar. It's also incredibly similar to OCD and the obsessive/compulsive part, with intrusive sexual fantasies/thoughts and compulsions like oversharing and sexual acts. And with it, you will feel shame, regret and self hatred, hypersexuality is not pretty and is very damaging to live with, especially if you've been dealing with it since you were a child.

When hypersexuality is triggered, you may be feeling...

small and like you need to be protected or else, like a kid, like condescended or put down

pain, you may be dealing with some sort of pain when it is triggered, you may have a hard time sleeping, and it's triggered, or you had a bad day

self hatred, you may feel like you cannot escape your shame and guilt, you may be spiraling and need some sort of reprieve to take you away from reality

or literally any sort of stress, it can be anything, and its usually something painful. You could be feeling lonely, you could be struggling with intrusive thoughts that make you feel aroused, anything.

So you will experience urges and intrusive thoughts. And a lot of it, a lot of what I've experienced, and I know others have, is self harming behaviors with the hypersexuality. It's not necessarily physical, it can be emotional self harm. Regardless, it's self punishing for "taboo" or "disgusting" acts. And its a very intense headspace that is hard to escape from.

There are things called endorphins, hormones/neurotransmitters that reduce pain and discomfort, that come from sexual acts. And they make you feel better and help you sleep. But that does not mean you do not experience emotional pain from engaging in sexual situations. It's self harming, and hypersexuality is known as an addiction, just like codependency.

So how does one deal with hypersexuality in a more healthy manner? How to not hate yourself so much when you get compulsions and intrusive thoughts? Well, there is therapy, but that's just an easy answer that doesn't work for everyone. And a lot of therapy is just this. It's self work and self care.

I'm not going to act like that is easy, nor is it pleasurable a lot of times. But it's healing and progress, it's something that is worth it in the long run. It's teaching yourself that sexual things are not taboo, and that you're not evil for doing it. It's learning to accept yourself and break down dissociative barriers if you have them.

In combatting this, here are some things to focus on:

Affirmations and self appreciating. No more telling yourself that you're gross or disgusting, no more viewing yourself in a negative light. There are positivity blogs and posts, surround yourself with that love and kindness, and no more falling back on "I'm gross for feeling this way".

Unlearning the lies that your inner child has been told. And this is specifically the lie that "sex is bad" or that it's taboo. Its just a normal part about having bodily needs. Even if you don't like sex, it's not inherently bad. Within this, educate yourself about the things you may have not learned in school. Let's stop feeling ashamed of ourselves when we experience arousal. Become more sex positive.

Learning self care and aftercare. Aftercare is mostly talked about in kink communities but it should be discussed more in general. It's about coming down from emotional highs after sexual encounters. And that means being gentle and kind with yourself. Take care of yourself, use the bathroom, etc. You don't even have to have had a sexual encounter to preform self care.

Along with the point above, self care is important in general. Create a safe space for yourself, have relax days, take time for yourself and treat yourself well. Hypersexuality is often the "replacement" for the need of unconditional love. This is why you need to be more gentle with yourself and to forgive yourself. Even if you cannot be with others, or trust others, at least you can do is be gentle and kinder with yourself.

Give your inner child a safe space. Watch kids shows, watch your favourite movies you loved as a child. Let yourself eat snacks or drinks. Let yourself play and have fun. Sit in comfy pajamas and make pillow forts, or take a nature walk. Surround yourself in things you enjoyed or wanted as a child. (I recommend The Little Prince if you want a good movie to enjoy.) Let your inner child be themselves, because more often than not, they're the one that feels unloved and unsafe here. No more shame, let yourself have fun.

And this is not a cure, this will not help you with everything. Sometimes you need actual therapy, actual medication, you need an answer. It's hard, the healing journey is tough because of the stigma and struggle with finding a therapist that is right for you.

I really recommend researching about OCD as well, you may not have OCD, but it's really similar to a lot of what hypersexuality is. And getting a diagnosis for that or getting medication for that, may help you deal with some issues you cannot contend with on your own. Especially with the lack of boundaries you may have. Especially if you have been in a toxic or codependent relationship/friendship or situation due to hypersexuality. You may learn better coping mechanisms through that as well. You are not a lost cause.

You will lessen the intense headspace with care and work, you are not a monster and you are not disgusting. Please treat yourself with more respect and kindness. Sex is not a sin, and nor does hypersexuality make you a bad person. Educate and treat yourself better. You are an equal and you deserve to be respected. You are not lower than anyone else, nor are you less intelligent or stupid. You are not an inferior being.

Here's to healing, the journey begins. May you grow and build a sanctuary for yourself. I hope you flourish. No more self hatred and no more shame. You are deserving of respect and you deserve the unconditional love that was not given to you. Only you can take the first step of this. It's not as scary or uncomfortable as you think it is.

TDLR: Please read the bullet points if nothing else. Hypersexuality is very similar to OCD, so OCD coping mechanisms may help you as well. Practicing self care, as well as unlearning shame and self punishing attitudes will help. It's not protective if you don't learn to respect yourself. Stop shaming yourself for sexual feelings. It's not your fault you deal with this. So it's time you build yourself a safe space/sanctuary in order to be more authentic and loving with yourself.

HP theory: Salazar Slytherin left the basilisk to help the students, not attack them.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about Salazar lately, and his Chamber of Secrets, and the basilisk. And I think it’s possible that the common perception of why he built the Chamber might be way off base. 

First, let’s start with what we are told about the Chamber. I’ll preface this by saying that I’m discounting information from the movie and focusing on the book because…well, movie. In then second book, Prof Binns tells the class that “Slytherin, according to the legend, sealed the Chamber of Secrets so that none would be able to open it until his own true heir arrived at the school. The heir alone would be able to unseal the Chamber of Secrets, unleash the horror within, and use it to purge the school of all who were unworthy to study magic.”

This has always struck me as odd–the founder of a school wanting to kill children? Yes, he argued against admitting Muggleborns, which he saw as a serious security risk for the other children. But killing them is a very different thing altogether. In fact, on this same page, Binns dismisses the tale as “ludicrous.” There is no written evidence of Salazar’s reasoning; instead, all that’s left is a legend that has traveled by word of mouth, supposedly for a thousand years. Students are likely to twist even the most banal stories into legend, so the idea of “purging the unworthy” doesn’t seem very reliable. Plus, most important of all–who’s the one student who knew most about the Chamber, who talked about it to other students? Tom Riddle. It seems to me that there is a very good chance that “purging the unworthy” was really HIS motive, not Salazar’s. 

Next, let’s look at the animal itself. The basilisk is an incredibly unusual animal, and not because of its ability to kill. There are literally countless other ways to kill wizards, especially wizard children, a large number of which are much easier and would arouse less suspicion. Additionally, the basilisk can only kill or petrify a limited number of people at a time–assuming only one person can look it directly in either eye at once, that means it can only kill a maximum of two students at a time. This is highly ineffective for a large school. Spells would have been better! Blood curses would have been better! Simply jinxing the sorting hat to mark muggleborns would have been better. But he doesn’t do that. His reasoning can’t be because he’s a Parselmouth and can speak to snakes, because, remember, he never planned to use the basilisk himself. He never DID use it himself. In addition, the attacks are easy to prevent: looking through lenses or using reflections can foil an attack, and a 50-foot long snake is easy to see and attack (don’t forget that at the time of Hogwarts’ founding, there were no pipes for the snake to move around in. It COULD NOT have been Salazar’s plan for it to use the pipes.) This thing would never have been able to kill many students before the professors found it and stopped it. A “purge” of a large portion of the student body seems almost impossible. 

In addition, we know that basilisks do not answer to every Parselmouth. This is clear in book 2, for while Harry can understand the basilisk, it does not answer to him at all. Leaving a creature behind that might not respond to his own Parselmouth descendants, and could therefore attack even purebloods, is completely illogical and out of character. Everything that we have seen of Salazar speaks of him striving to create a safe place for his chosen students, not put them in danger.

Then there’s the fact that the basilisk had been put into a kind of suspended animation. It had lain dormant for centuries. Put that into Salazar’s own timeline. We know he had children, because we know he has heirs. We know they were magical. We can be reasonably sure they attended Hogwarts, as it was the only school in existence at the time. If Salazar really intended for his heirs to purge the school…why didn’t they? If that were his intention, he absolutely would have told his own children or grandchildren about it. Even if we try to explain that away by saying he feared the other founders, there’s no reason why his grandchildren wouldn’t have taken up the cause. But they don’t. For TEN CENTURIES. His descendants spread far and wide, they even go on to found magical schools in other countries (!), and not a single one opens the chamber until Tom, who was raised not by wizard parents, but in an orphanage. 

To me, there is only one explanation: Salazar did not intend to wipe out Muggleborns. He did not tell his descendants to awaken the basilisk and purge the school. That cannot have been his plan. If it had been, why on earth wouldn’t they have done it, and why would he have have chosen an animal that even his own children had at best a 50/50 chance of being able to control? Why not a curse, or a jinx, or an animal that would kill of its own accord? Why take this animal and deliberately put it into a stasis in which it can’t hurt anyone?

Because there’s another important characteristic of basilisks: their venom. It can destroy horcruxes. Basilisk venom is one of only two things in the entire wizarding world that can do so. This makes it incredibly important in the fight against dark magic, perhaps the most important tool there is. Out of Voldemort’s seven horcruxes, a whopping five of them were destroyed by basilisk venom–the cup and the diary with fangs, and the locket, ring and Nagini with a sword that had been imbued with the venom. The fight against Voldemort could NEVER have been won without that basilisk and its venom, especially since basilisks had not been seen in England since the 16th century. Without Salazar’s basilisk, there is a very good chance they would not have found another one. And that venom could even have been extracted from the basilisk while still dormant. 

It is because of Salazar Slytherin and his basilisk that Voldemort was defeated. Because Salazar did not purge the school of muggleborns; because he did not instruct his children or grandchildren to do so; because he did not place a conscious monster in the school. Instead, he took the most valuable tool in the fight against the dark arts, placed it in the safest stasis he could, and stored it in the safest place in the wizarding world. He left that tool as a precaution against any dark wizards that would ever threaten Hogwarts. 

And it goddamned worked. 

The mistreatment of Jin - a BigHit callout post

A lot of people seem to think that BigHit could never do wrong and know what’s best for BTS. They think BigHit and BTS are a “family”. Well it’s time to wake up..! BigHit isn’t any better when compared to big companies like SM or YG for example. They’re just as problematic like K-Pop companies often tend to be. The perfect example of this is how they’ve been treating Jin these past 4 years.

!! - a few of these facts are just borderline emotional abuse..

okay, let’s get started:

- Apparently Bang-PD walked around calling Jin fat???? wtf (this was 2013, before their debut and around the same time Jin went on a diet no one talks about where he only ate chicken breast for A YEAR.)

- And guess what? Bang-PD isn’t the only one who has called Jin fat: even his manager did. Fortunately they fired him because he was mistreating Jungkook.

- Jin majored in acting but in the House of ARMY, he got all the insignificant roles with basically zero dialogue. Yoongi even said Seokjin had texted him, shocked that he didn’t have any dialogue in the script. In the Making of-video he was clearly pissed: when the camera man said they’ll be filming Jin next he said “Oh, wow. Do I get to appear alone?” asdfghjkl. Jin was salty, but tried so hard to be positive. (he even avoided looking straight into the camera while they were interviewing him.. on the inside he was definitely feeling wronged.)

- Let’s be honest. BigHit could easily push him in the OST direction or debut him as an actor if they wanted, but no.

- Jin was once forced to perform even though he had hurt his neck in Kcon Paris. BigHit never made an official report about his condition… (it’s funny how they made a report about namjoon’s toe and suga’s ear but not this.)

- Now let’s talk about his LINES. Remember Blood, Sweat and Tears where he had to share his few lines with Jimin? That was the most unnecessary thing ever. (later in the japanese ver. they made jin’s voice stand out more than jimin’s. lol I guess even BigShit felt a bit guilty??) I’ve seen people trying to defend this by saying that it’s okay because Jin was the ~Main Character~ in the MV. But honestly, where is the logic in that? BTS are a K-pop group! Their voices are the most important thing about them!

- Jin is the only one who didn’t get a single line in any of the year end 2016 special stages (rainism: jungkook, as i told you: jimin, v, jungkook & class idea: namjoon, hoseok, jungkook… suga wasn’t there because of his ear injury.) He was just a backup dancer and nothing else.

- Remember when people were hyping up Spring Day because apparently this was supposed to be the song where Jin would shine… even V said Jin would surprise us all and umm.. well he didn’t.

- BigHit removed Jin from the thumbnail of Not Today MV because ????

- Speaking of Not Today. Let’s talk about this fuck up…

- *coughs* This was his only solo shot and it lasted about 2 seconds. Really. BTS filmed for almost 24 hours in cold weather and you’re telling me this is the only shot of Jin that was “good enough”. I don’t think so, because we saw the Behind the scenes-video and they were filming Jin quite a lot. They just didn’t use the clips.

- They keep telling Jin his voice is suited for ballads, but Butterfly was a ballad and he was once again the vocal who had the least amount of lines. (and some of them were not even lines like repeating “untrue” is.. not really a line)

- … so basically the ballad comment was just some bs excuse, let’s be real no one fits only 1 type of music. Plus here are some Bangtan’s slower/not hiphop songs I think Jin’s voice could easily be fitted in but he still got the least amount of lines: Spring Day Studio Version, Miss Right, YNWA, Just One Day, Outro: Propose, House of Cards, Coffee…

- Now the most recent fuck up is BTS’ cover of Seo Taiji’s song ‘Come Back Home’ and people are still debating whether Jin has ANY lines at all. The MV for the song was uploaded to CJENMMUSIC’s official youtube and their header was changed to a… group photo… of BTS… except Jin was nowhere to be seen. The fact that they forgot Jin is unbelievable and just plain disrespectful. No product should ever be released without approval and double check. None. And while we don’t know if BigHit had anything to do with the header, whose fault it is that even these other companies tend to forget Jin because they aren’t promoting him enough? This was not a simple mistake. It means that design and marketing teams from HUGE companies like CJEN don’t see him.
