One Thing I Am Both Grateful For And…. Really Upset Over Is That For Like 10 Minutes, We Get Ben Solo

One thing I am both grateful for and…. really upset over is that for like 10 minutes, we get Ben Solo as free as he’s ever been. And just from the like, 3 clips I’ve seen, the difference in his physicality, his expressions and his energy is so completely opposite from Kylo’s… I just want to applaud Adam for giving us that. Kylo’s every movement looked so… restrained and stiff in comparison? Like he was holding in everything that he is, putting it all away. And he looked so pained most of the time. Tried to stay as stoic as he possibly could. Seething. But Ben? Fuckin’ wild XD. The determination, the confidence, the sass, the absolute badassery… Always grateful that we got to see that. But upset that that’s all we got… Just when we started seeing who he really is, they ripped him away. But what we did get was fucking beautiful. As this tweet so elegantly put it:

Everybody say “Thank You Adam Driver”, Who brought his A-game even in this mess.

TLJ had like 6-7 super brief Reylo scenes and they were amazing. Of course an action movie can’t live up to fic, but Reylo scenes tend to be so compelling and full of chemistry that they suck all the attention towards them. Keep in mind, of all the “backlash” to TLJ that Disney’s trying so hard to get away from (lol), Reylo wasn’t a part of it. The Reylo complaints were just in anti circles, yet even the Fanbros were like “This part was the best/most compelling part”

I know. TLJ backlash or not, everyone with a braincell is aware that Reylo is one of the best things that came out of this trilogy. Even those who aren’t shippers or super fans of it. You gotta recognize it’s one of the few elements that have some spark and aren’t a flat ripoff of the same old formulas. And that it drives the plot and keeps the narrative together in ways that no other storytelling element does.

And I have no doubt that any amount of Reylo we’re getting in TROS will be the best part of the movie, and the most critically praised too.

How do I know? Because Adam fucking Driver will be in the Reylo scenes. Trio stuff and fanbro-friendly shenanigans don’t have an Adam.

Recent comic releases: Show Rey struggling with the Force, not finding belonging with the resistance, feeling isolated and alone. Show Ben Solo fleeing from the Jedi students who wrongly accuse him of murder, show him literally using the Force to stop himself from dying after being yeeted.

It’s a fairytale. It’s a complicated fairytale. It literally has a prince and Rey is referred to as a princess. I’d argue it might even be loosely inspired from Beauty and the Beast.

And if it doesn’t end with a redeemed, alive Ben Solo…I don’t even have words for that kind of clownery. That’s D&D S8 level nonsense and I don’t think JJ wants a seat at that table. I’m just saying.

One last thing. JJ is raving about Adam, and has since TFA. He is not going to do him the disservice of that kind of shitty writing. DANY would have a more meaningful death, and we know how shitty that was. (Ben shows up only to do nothing in the final fight and bite the bullet before it even begins, giving the audience - and Adam - a beyond dissatisfying and insulting death? PLEASE.)
