We All Really Slept On Quackity's POV Of Doomsday. It's Probably The Saddest One Out Of All Of Them.

We all really slept on Quackity's POV of Doomsday. It's probably the saddest one out of all of them.

Quackity actually ran away from L'Manberg before the battle, with his only possession of value, his skeleton horse. He ran because he realized there was no saving the nation. He was scared and hopeless. He had no weapons, no armor. He knew he wasn't a good fighter. He was prepared to start a new life somewhere else.

But he realized after reading Ranboo's memory book that he wanted to fight anyway. This was the very thing he became vice president to do: try and stop tyranny, even if it cost him his last life. He had absolutely nothing to gain, everything to lose, and would lose everything anyway. And yet he came back.

He died again and again.

He lost. Dream, Technoblade and Philza annihilated L'Manberg.

And when everything was over, he stood on the obsidian scaffolding above the crater. He stood with Tubbo, Tommy and Wilbur, brothers in arms, he sang from his heart, the anthem lost to the bombing that only he remembered the words to, a final goodbye to his home.

Someone's cutting onions in here.

thinking about the absolutely poetic symbolism of the war crime sign being removed to make space for the execution device... thinking about ghostbur singing the l’manberg anthem while running around with friend and reminding tubbo of the core values l’manberg was built upon... thinking about how imprisoning phil in his house goes against all those values... thinking about how before he blew up l’manberg wilbur said it was because that it wasn’t the place it was built to be anymore and that it has become what it had been made to be a haven from.... thinking about how wilbur was right all along and also the best president l’manberg ever had because he didn’t interfere in other citizen’s lives... thinking about how power or want of power corrupts everyone on the server.... thinking about ranboo’s note in his memory book saying “the walls are still up. even if dream takes them down. the are still up.”... thinking about how ranboo is one of the only citizens of l’manberg who understands and upholds its values.... thinking about the poetry of it all....

still amazes me that by season 45 or whatever, Supernatural was being exclusively watched by delusionally hopeful women with flamingo-salinity tolerance for bad writing and the creators still couldn’t pander to them because maybe there was 1 straight guy out there still accidentally watching it

I think what I enjoy most about tommy and techno's dynamic now is just how much tommy is leaning on him for support and just how unconditionally willing techno is to give him that. Though he shows plenty of exasperation and frustration at times with tommy, protecting him is never not an option. It's also not even a question for him to hide him from dream. Tommy is so clearly terrified and he needs reassurance that he'll be safe. And when that fear arrives, he gives tommy a choice. He can go see dream or he can hide. He can go to Logstedshire or run back home. He can stay behind in L'manburg or go back with techno. He can run from the Final Control Room or face his past. He obviously still doesn't like where tommy is at the moment- expressing annoyance and confusion at tommy's feelings towards dream- but he doesn't force a conclusion on him. Just quietly reminds tommy of what dream has done and lets him work it out for himself. And when tommy gets upset, like with the Final Control Room and Logstedshire, he doesn't push him to confront it, though it's clear he'd be supportive of any decision he makes about confronting his trauma. What techno understands right now is that tommy hasn't been treated as equal for a long time. Tommy isn't allowed choice. And now that tommy is finally free from all the people pushing him around, the best way to support him is to let him know that he can choose. Techno is right: tommy does have no free will. But it doesn't need to be like that forever, and as long as techno had a say in it, it won't.

do you ever become obsessed with a character and you just go "of fucking course its that one" at yourself because you are so incredibly predictable

tw// suicide

(want to note that this is about the CHARACTERS on dream smp, not any of the actual creators. the fact that anyone feels strongly about this proves that these people are telling a good story. I am also not genuinely angry/upset at any fan, even though this rant may seem like I am. I promise it's all good; this is just silly little minecraft roleplay and not something to be genuinely upset over).

i think the fact that people feel sympathy for c!dream is very interesting, especially considering the fact that many people seemed to feel absolutely no sympathy for c!tommy.

dream is a manipulative motherfucker on purpose. that's his job as a complex villain, and he's doing it very well. he's acting all sad and dejected over losing his friends and items (even though he previously stated that he never cared about any of those things) to make tommy feel bad for him. he's doing it to pull at tommy's heartstrings, but not just tommy's. dream is also trying to guilt trip chat. to make the viewers feel bad for him. to sympathize with him, even though he's in no way deserving of that sympathy. there are pleanty of things I can list that dream has done wrong, but one, I believe, is most important: dream abused tommy so badly that he considered suicide.

how could one possibly feel even an ounce of sympathy for someone who drove another person, a CHILD, to off themselves? dream hurt tommy so badly that being dead seemed like a better option. a way out. how fucking sickening is that?

tommy has fucked up on many occasions, no doubt about that. but to say that the punishments he's received fit the crimes he's commited is completely untrue. no matter what you've done, you don't deserve death, and you CERTAINLY do not deserve to be beaten down to the point where death seems like a better alternative to being alive.

unlike tommy, dream is an unfeeling character. he cares about nothing other than himself. he had pleanty of opportunities to be a better person. he could've learned from his experiences and grown from them. but he didn't. he never did, because he doesn't care. tommy, especially as of late, knows that he's messed up, and is learning from that. he's apologizing, acknowledging his mistakes, and making an effort to be a better person.

unlike tommy, dreams crimes do fit this punishment. he deserves to be in that prison, and he deserves to feel bad, if he truly does. he should. that's the point.

this kind of sympathy that I've been seeing float around in tommy's chat today and generally online baffles me. where was this sympathy when tommy was exiled? when he described how poorly he was doing? when he physically looked worse? when he was having visions of tubbo? when he was so irrational that he rejected help from ranboo, the only person who visited him? when he almost killed himself on multiple occasions?

was it "too hard" to sympathize with tommy because of his brash nature, which is normal for a kid his age?

or was tommy "too hard" to sympathize with because he displayed, and continues to display the "ugly" symptoms of mental illness and abuse?

dreams tone and word choices are deliberate. don't let this facade blind you from the character dream really is.

I'm all for Phil favoring Techno due to Techno being this "ideal child prodedgy" or whatever, but consider the opposite.

The reason Philza was so distant and neglectful of Wilbur and Tommy was because Technoblade was a handful. You have this kid born from blood, who's got voices in his head and a penchant for violence. And while Wilbur was mentally ill, it wasn't nearly as prominent and had the immediate physical and emotional impacts that Techno's mental illness did when they were kids.

And so Philza felt he had to overcompensate. All his energy and praise were spent on Techno, because he was the one struggling the most in the moment, with socializing or recognizing physical boundaries or having an episode. He spent a lot of time ressuring Techno that he wasn't a monster, even being proud of Techno and his accomplishments and skills when it came to combat.

And in the process he neglected to give Wilbur and Tommy the proper attention, didn't catch Wil's early signs of depression, didn't repremand Tommy when he acted out.

Just a fresh take I thought I'd share.

The stigma of self-inserts is so harmful to the creative process. Relax. Admit it. Everything you make is derivative of yourself, always, no exceptions. You can turn the mirror into tinier and tinier shards or you can make it as big as you want to reflect as much as you want. At the end of the day it's always going to show you inside of it. Pretending otherwise is stupid.

Sometimes I like to think of the Dream SMP and its greater canon as a living fantasy universe, not just a little Minecraft server under Minecraft server assumptions.

I like to think that the world has complex technology in the form of planes, Nokia phones, and little communication devices, but also it’s still a fantasy place with animal hybrid inhabitants, potion-brewing, and enchanted weapons.

I like to think that one day this piglin hybrid and his friend staked a claim on the entire world and immediately everybody panicked, though not a drop of blood had been shed. The next day, there was a highly-anticipated trial, with the stake of the world on the line.

I like to think that the Angel of Death and the Blade rose to notoriety from this incident, becoming names known far and wide for their battle prowess, and sometimes, this brown-haired teenager with a little tagalong blond kid brother, who seemed to live the most mundane life imaginable, would sometimes stop in the middle of playing some depressing song on his guitar and casually drop, “Oh yeah, the Angel of Death? I know him. He’s my dad.” And then people would stare, as he went on nonchalantly playing his depressing music.

I like to think that one day this same fellow with curly brown hair, now a young adult, called a bunch of people into a drug van and started preaching all sorts of abstract ideas of liberty and equality and freedom from tyranny, and a bunch of people who came to buy potions from that little drug business sat down and thought, “Huh, that sounds kind of cool actually,” and deserted Dream’s absolutist rule.

I like to think that there was a massive audience when Wilbur was announcing the results of the presidential election (there were thousands of votes for that election, remember?) That even the people who weren’t in the audience were also hearing it over their communication devices and blasted around L’manberg, listening with bated breath.

And when Schlatt took the stage and his first decree was to exile Wilbur and Tommy, chaos immediately descended in the streets. There were violent riots that night. Someone cried out that the former president had been slayed by one of Dream’s soldiers, Punz, and had lost one of his lives, and panic ensued. Next day, the newspapers wrote all sorts of conspiracies of how Schlatt took power. Some of citizens of L’manberg saw this girl, Niki, who was new in town and urging them to fight. Soon they learned that she was an old friend of Wilbur’s, and she became a figurehead of the internal resistance.

I like to think that Purpled’s real estate business terrorized shop owners throughout the Greater Dream SMP. Purpled became way too rich from his exploitative practices, and everyone was too scared to do anything about it because it was rumored that Purpled was scarily good in a fight.

I like to think that people started calling their dogs, cats, and foxes into their houses once rumor began to spread of this merciless pet killer with a flame on their shirt.

I like to think that Pogtopia was a layered place, where resistance fighters were building a lively small community together. The Blade wasn’t really as intimidating as everyone thought — hell, he was a potato farm aficionado who loved to ramble about that one time he spent months farming potatoes in order to beat this kid. It was a bustling ravine where the constant sounds of laughter, tears, and the chinking away of pickaxes could be heard as everyone tried to relax, mine resources, and prepare for revolution.

I like to think that everyone tuned into the Quackity-Schlatt drama. It was all over the tabloids — Vice-President Quackity kills his President and Lover! Read all about it! Everyone made derisive political cartoons about Schlatt… and then people started to make derisive political cartoons about Tubbo.

I like to think there were pirates on the great seas. One day, one such pirate captain by the name of Puffy landed on the shores by L’manberg and the Greater Dream SMP, intending to just do a little casual robbing, but she decided to take a tour around the place with the king and in the process, she met that figurehead of the resistance and couldn’t help feeling a little smitten. Her pirate crew eventually sailed off without her.

I like to think that after Wilbur died, everyone knew about Ghostbur. His music stand was always popular. Sometimes he lended out books from his library, and people took them and read them, even though they were damp and starting to get just a bit moldy. No one wanted to hurt the ghost’s feelings.

I like to think there was a shocked audience at Tommy’s exile.

I like to think the day before Doomsday, the citizens of L’manberg were busy scrambling to evacuate their valuables, to muster their arms. I like to think that some of them, who never thought Tubbo was that bad anyways, followed Tommy and Tubbo to Snowchestire.

I like to think that people actually enjoyed the games at both the festivals, and that there were very many more of them.

I just like to think of the Dream SMP as being an inhabited place, sometimes.
