This awesome wristwatch is a one-of-a-kind creation inspired by the Kennin-ji Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, one of Japan’s most historic landmarks dating back to 1202. In 2002, to celebrate its 800th anniversary, artist Koizumi Junsaku painted a pair of powerful dragons were painted inside the temple’s Dharma Hall. Those beautiful dragons inspired a collector to commission a multi-national Swiss-based team of four master craftsmen to create the Kennin-ji Master’s Project, one of the most ornate and exquisite watches ever made.

Every surface of the watch is covered in magnificent engraving of the temple dragons, making it both a priceless work of art as well as a functional timepiece.

“This is the most extraordinary engraving project I’ve ever been involved with due to the complexity of the subject (two dragons instead of one), the incredible detail of the engravings and the fact that it isn’t just one component that’s engraved, but the designs cover practically the whole watch.”
