anyone else think the timing of this whole queen dying shit is a little bit convenient considering if she actually kicks it all the media is going to be talking about for the next however many months is her funeral and the new monarch instead of. yknow. the fact the government is in the middle of taking our human rights away. anyone else feel like this just a little bit too perfectly timed to not be blanket coverage

(EDIT) y'all are doing my fucking head in in the notes lmao like you really missed the point here, just ignore my mostly joking accusation of staging the queen's death for a sec here and maybe think about how even if they didn't do that, they are definitely going to take advantage of the situation as much as possible to distract from the fact that millions of poor brits will starve and freeze to death in their homes this winter whilst what little money they have will be spent on her solid gold coffin. if it's not a conspiracy already it's going to become one. they will take any opportunity they can to make sure the media and the government and by extension WE don't have to talk about the worst cost of living crisis in decades and our increasingly fascist leadership. they WILL make sure this is all we hear about as they continue chipping away at our rights and our wallets throughout autumn and winter and beyond. making jokes and celebrating her death is all well and good and we should be glad she's dead but this is only going to make matters worse for the poorest and most vulnerable people in our country. the tyranny she oversaw and was complicit in will not end just because she's dead. they'll use it to get away with even more shit

you all need to think about how you interact with trans men online, like really think

recently one of my posts about being a trans man and casually interacting with another trans man got about 90,000 notes and the tags and comments are full of ‘too pure for this earth’, ‘i’m a dirty sinner i don’t deserve to read this post’, ‘adorable cute sweet precious boys’ despite the fact that it’s mentioned that i am in college and not a child in the post and you all need to think about how some trans men do not want to be referred to that way and being okay with being referred to that way is pretty much exclusively a young teenager tumblr thing that makes a lot of guys uncomfortable. i’m just a man. none of this is necessary and it’s very performative, but…

along with this infantilizing, with this obsession with the proposed purity of another man and myself just for existing, there’s also dehumanization that comes with it, for example:

somewhere along the post, someone decided it would be a good idea to add, ‘all i can imagine is two eldritch horrors trying to get their voices as horrifying and fucked up as possible’ (not exact quote but that’s the gist of it)…

and someone decided that it would be a good idea to take my experience, wildly change the context and make a FANFIC, on MY OWN POST, of two eldritch MONSTERS upset because their voices didn’t sound ‘as horrific’ as the ‘monsters’ around them, and bonding over it together. nowhere in this fanfiction was being trans mentioned.

this is, quite possibly, the most horrifying thing someone has added to one of my posts and going beyond dehumanizing my experiences as a trans man enjoying my voice getting deeper, but also writing a fanfiction onto the post that changed the context of ‘two trans men finding validation between one another and our voices’ into ‘two monsters are sad they’re not scary enough and bond over trying to be scary together’. i shouldn’t have to explain how horrible that is for me to read, and how horrible it is to see that added on my own post & circulated through hundreds with no criticism.

quite frankly, it’s devastating to see how people talk about and interact with trans men. we are either children who must be protected and are weak and vulnerable and ‘too pure’, or we are fuel for your fanfics that completely strip us of our humanity. i consent to neither and if you think that any of these things are okay to do to a complete stranger, all you’re doing is patting yourself on the back for your performative ally points while making trans men uncomfortable with sharing their experiences and talking about their lives and trying to be happy with themselves. stop it.

rick's books have a not-okay amount of racism, perpetuation of harmful stereotypes, and misrepresentation in them. grow up and accept it. rick's a white man who does not understand what it is to be a poc or a minority or lgbtq+, the least he could have done was his fricking research, but the truth is that he didnt and you need to deal with it. calling the people who are a) misrepresented in the books and b) accepting these facts, calling them haters is just on a different level of immature.

Imagine an animated movie with a canonically gay friends-to-enemies-to-lovers storyline ending in love confession and gay kiss, along with a canonically nonbinary main character

...oh wait... you don't have to imagine, because the movie Nimona (by the creator of she-ra) is 75% complete in production. The problem? IT JUST GOT CANCELLED!

Disney shut down Blue Sky Studios, which was producing the movie, so our best hope is that it gets picked up by another production company.

Honestly, I don't care who they cast as Percy Jackson in the new tv show, I just want it to be Percy.

Did I have a preconceived notion of what person looked like growing up. Yes. Do I have a couple specific ideas of how I want Percy to look in the show to better represent me and also other people. Yes. But for me, it doesn't matter the face, or the hair, or any of that, as long as it's Percy.

The Percy who taught me that just because I'm different doesn't mean I'm broken, and doesn't mean that I can't accomplish things. The Percy that learns to be proud of who he is, and taught me to be proud of who I am. Heck, Percy Jackson was one of the first characters in Media, one of the first people ever that truly had me questioning my gender, what gender means to me, and who I was, in order to help find my identity. I wanted to be him. Now, he has helped me want to be me.

So come on Disney, do it. Cast an Actor of color, a trans kid, a genderqueer kid, a kid who really is neurodivergent. Or has freckles or acne. Or isn't the "conventional" muscular body type. Don't worry, go ham. Because Percy is Percy, no matter what he looks like. Because it doesn't matter what somebody looks like, it matters who they are.

Because Percy is and always was a good kid. And as long as you have that, you have Percy.

The “A” in LGBTQIA does not stand for ally but asexual and aromantic as well as agender

Asexuality is on a spectrum so depending where someone falls or how they identify, they may or may not experience intimate attraction

Asexuals are not broken

Asexuals aren’t “cishets trying to evade LGBTQ+ spaces”

Asexual and aromanticism shouldn’t be used synonymously. They have similar principals but different meanings. Both primarily deal with experiencing little to no attraction

Not all asexuals are virgins and that doesn’t make them any less asexual because of it

Asexuality is real and valid

Just because aphobia infrequently escalates to violence doesn’t mean it’s nonexistent

Corrective assault isn’t limited to just bi and gay men/lesbians

A few pro tips while I’m at it:

Using virginity as an insult to asexuals is like using heterosexuality to insult a straight person, you sound stupid

If at one point you believed to be asexual but later discovered you weren’t that’s okay, but using that experience to invalidate others isn’t

Spitefully sending nsfw to people who identify as ace, especially MINORS (and yes this has happened before) is disgusting. Seek help.

Gatekeeping isn’t a personality trait

Oppression isn’t a competition so quit acting as such
