I've been following Retro Core for 15 years from its original video game reviews to its recent videos about ports of games and the Chinese knock offs that play them. He's tired of people dissing the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive's sound chip, so he brought several examples of clean instruments and heavy bass. There's more Mega Drive music and a couple Super Nintendo ones where that came from.

Oh boy, it’s a Mega Man! The Mega Man games always have rockin’ soundtracks. Krzysztof “MET” Słowikowski made metal covers of every game in the entire classic series, some of the X games, and some other random stuff.

Two months ago, I told you I was hooked on this game. Since then, I’ve played for 47 hours, reached every door, collected every backpack, and got every survival mode ending. I’ve also brought the heat to the North American version’s leaderboards with dozens of stage times in the top three. Since this game helpfully lets you save replays, I get to show you how I got there. Enjoy!

30-Day Video Game Music Challenge (Super Hard Mode) Day 17: Music you never get tired of From Magical Chase (TurboGrafx-16, 1991)
Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata bring huge symphonic sound everywhere they go. The Holy Grail of TurboGrafx-16 collecting hasn’t been re-released anywhere for 20 years.

I’ve entered this weekend’s Ludum Dare competition! Sure, it’s been two weeks since my last post here, but it’s been a full year since my last game compo. They announce a theme Friday night and you have 48 hours to make a game with that theme. I competed in LD #23 and LD #25 using Game Maker 7 and I’m pretty happy with those games, but this time I’m changing it up and using HTML5.
The theme for LD #28 is “You Only Get One.” I don’t know what I’m making yet, but I know I want to use HTML5’s Local Storage to make sure you don’t get another “one” by reloading the game. I need to test if my HTML5 Local Storage, Canvas, and Audio methods work on all of my target browsers, so here’s a quick demo. What you type into it gets stored in your browser’s local storage and doesn’t get sent to our servers. Check back here Sunday night and I’ll post the finished product.
(In the original WordPress post, I embedded my HTML5 Test here. Tumblr doesn’t support HTML5 canvases in posts. That makes me sad.)

This is my current desktop wallpaper. I have a dual monitor setup, so it looks like Marisa is throwing a star bomb onto my left monitor. I actually got this one from a Tumblr I'm going to call F'Yeah Pixiv that sadly isn't updated anymore. It's one of the last things posted on that Tumblr. (My old blog had all work safe text, but when I’m reblogging a user named fuckyeahpixiv-blog, I guess that idea goes out the window.)

I don't update my web site or my Facebook enough, so I'm starting this WordPress blog. Unlike my old blog, this one is mostly pictures and videos from the Internet and not much text. Unlike the Bakamo Studios site, I plan to put up new really short, informal posts about 2-5 times a week.

(I’m re-posting the entire content of my old WordPress blog to Tumblr, for about 170 posts, starting with this post. This will make all of my old content searchable here, and I think I’m going to have all of the WordPress single post pages meta redirect to Tumblr posts. This behavior might change later, we’ll see.)
Now that I’ve got all my WordPress posts on Tumblr, what should I do with it? How about I introduce a tool-assisted video Sonic Hurricane debuted at Evo2k10? Evenly matched projectiles and beams clash like it’s Dragon Ball Z. This video got me into Shinichi Osawa’s album The One and the soundtrack to DoDonPachi Resurrection Black Label.

Corruption as Art uses a real-time corruptor mod for BizHawk to flip random bits in memory while a game is running. Usually this just crashes the game, but sometimes things break in interesting ways. When applied to Streets of Rage 2, the music keeps playing but goes out of sync and creates strange remixes. Be warned that some posts, like How to Draw Kirby, feature “extreme flashing”. Lately I’ve been tearing things down and putting them back together in better organized ways, but this has introduced some glitches.

Here’s a new bandcamp thing I put out just now, I’ll be sure to come up with clever track names and stuff like that when I get home from work later but the tracks are all there for your ears i guess
Dear Catcom--err Capcom by suzuran
After vanilla Marvel vs Capcom 3, Wave did another one with characters she wanted to see added to the game. Tha's why the Strider Hiryu, Frank West, Phoenix Wright, and Doctor Strange cats are here too.

We made it through 2020! Better times await! Bill Wurtz disappeared for a year, and as it turns out, he spent the year learning Blender. This glorious 3D acid trip is just what we need. I love this style and I want to make a game that looks like this someday. I’m getting back into creative stuff, too. See you soon!
