The Duck Army battlecry is slowly spreading all over the Internet. On Twitter, Adam Savage from Mythbusters discovered the screaming Duck Army and quickly weaponized it. I just now found it too, so let’s embed some tweets and see what happens. (Tumblr doesn't support Twitter's embedded tweets at all... That's sad... Click here for the duck bomb video.

Hey Internet, you all need to do more fact checking before you post stuff. You could post that a dead gorilla got 15,000 write-in votes for president, but you’d be wrong. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is a comedy news show, but they love to call out mainstream media and celebrities when they say something that’s false. We all need more of that, and it’s easier to watch when it’s funny.

Corruption as Art uses a real-time corruptor mod for BizHawk to flip random bits in memory while a game is running. Usually this just crashes the game, but sometimes things break in interesting ways. When applied to Streets of Rage 2, the music keeps playing but goes out of sync and creates strange remixes. Be warned that some posts, like How to Draw Kirby, feature “extreme flashing”. Lately I’ve been tearing things down and putting them back together in better organized ways, but this has introduced some glitches.

Here’s a new bandcamp thing I put out just now, I’ll be sure to come up with clever track names and stuff like that when I get home from work later but the tracks are all there for your ears i guess
I like a good half-baked design every now and then, and this modular cell phone caught my eye. Each of my past few cell phones have met their end from just one component failing. With a Phonebloks phone, you could simply replace the bad component and be good as new. Motorola’s on board with this now, and I hope the project continues to gain traction. How about blocks for buttons and a D-pad?

Today Phonebloks is launched!
The humble Nintendo Game Boy had a low price and long battery life thanks to its cheap low-powered parts. JackTech is breaking down the Game Boy into pieces to show us exactly what each component can do. The Z80’s bare-bones instruction set made it a pain to code even basic tasks in assembly. That’s why I did all my old TI-83 games in BASIC.

I’m OK! I’m mostly on Kbin and Lemmy and a little Mastodon and Discord. They’re like if Reddit or Twitter were general Internet services like email and not getting ruined by a dumb CEO. I don’t use other platforms much unless I’m checking on someone who only uses one platform.
Today is my birthday and people are visiting my old profiles today, so this post is for them. Family and work are keeping me plenty busy and I haven’t been keeping up with everybody else like I should. These crossposting WordPress posts are too much work and don’t really reach people anyway. Floating Is Fun is way easier to do. I really miss my weekly Twitch stream and I am planning my return as soon as my schedule allows for it. I have a lot to figure out, but I want to be there for everyone who wants to see me. Let’s play chess sometime.

RetroAchievements adds Xbox 360-style achievement hunting and leaderboards to thousands of classic games and romhacks. Uncommon games often have romhacks that work with RetroAchievements. Check Romhacking.net for patches you can apply with utilities like Floating IPS. I’ve already recommended Rockman 4 Minus Infinity but it also has RetroAchievements.
Dynamite Headdy delocalization by M.I.J.E.T. (RetroAchievements) The localization we got here removed most of the dialogue, added American pop culture references, and made the annoying tower boss fight four times as long. This fan translation doesn’t do any of that. Go collect those secret bonus points.
Pulseman translation by M.I.J.E.T. (RetroAchievements) My favorite game on Sega Channel had you build up static electricity and then discharge it to attack and move around. Most of the team that made it went on to make Pokémon Red and Blue.
Super Mario Land DX by toruzz (RetroAchievements) Also Super Mario Land 2 DX by toruzz (RetroAchievements) Super Mario Land is the first game I ever beat and a fine place to get started with romhacks. This turns Super Mario Land and its sequel into Game Boy Color games with some graphics redrawn for better visibility. The RetroAchievements add some nice challenges to keep things fresh.
Extra Mario Bros. by ATA (RetroAchievements) This romhack gives Mario a dose of Metroid-like exploration with collecting keys and permanent upgrades to reach new places. It’s still Super Mario Bros., so the screen only scrolls to the right.
Umihara Kawase translation by satsu (RetroAchievements) A new Umihara Kawase game just came out and I’m afraid to start it because I get hooked on these games for a long time. We’ve got a wedding to plan! The original game’s RetroAchievements keep track of every door and backpack you’ve reached, so try to get them all.

30-Day Video Game Music Challenge (Super Hard Mode) Day 19: Cover of music by a different artist (Robin Beanland and Mark Betteridge) From Killer Instinct (Xbox One, 2013)
Maya’s already catchy Killer Instinct 2 theme got a big EDM upgrade. This criminally overlooked reboot stayed Xbox One-exclusive too long.

We’ve seen tool-assisted Marvel before, but Ataraxia takes it to new heights with camera hacks so we can see some previously offscreen setups. Combo scientists like Magnetro treat MvC2 like a puzzle game where they can create a bouncing Colossus, interruptable Ruby Heart supers, and Dhalsim’s rapid-fire turban attack. Leave it to Magnetro to put out a five minute video that takes a 38 minute video to explain.

Hello from Tumblr! I’ve been thinking, and I realize that my WordPress blog posts are basically Tumblr posts anyway. I might as well make it a Tumblr blog because I lose almost nothing. I plan to re-make all of my WordPress posts as proper Tumblr posts, properly reblogging the Tumblr stuff this time to comply with the posters’ wishes. For instance, my post for PiNe’s illustrations will become reblogs of every image when possible. Once I learn to Tumblr properly and get my theme and cross-posts working correctly, this is going to be good.

Mystery Ben makes animated music videos for Mystery Skulls songs. Ghost could have been a simple Scooby Doo parody, but every second seems to have important details for TV Tropes to analyze. This attracted a far bigger fandom than the official live action music video, prompting Mystery Ben to continue the series…
