Today is Denim Day, one of the last days of April which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Denim Day is a movement to show solidarity to the survivors of sexual assault. I'm taking a stand, well more sitting in this photo, for other survivors like myself. It may not seem like a rebellious act, putting on a pair of jeans, but it is. The young woman's abuser was set free after the conviction because "her jeans were too tight to be removed without help implying consent". Telling her story, being seen, and holding people accountable for their actions are steps towards ending assault culture. #denimday https://www.instagram.com/p/B_lTRl8D5fAm4PGvGRXIGtrad731ZEF8VrKTqw0/?igshid=s8v80iqwhyos
Oh worm.
deep sea bioluminescent worm
Scientists have created a living organism whose DNA is entirely human-made — perhaps a new form of life, experts said, and a milestone in the field of synthetic biology.
Researchers at the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Britain reported on Wednesday that they had rewritten the DNA of the bacteria Escherichia coli, fashioning a synthetic genome four times larger and far more complex than any previously created.
The bacteria are alive, though unusually shaped and reproducing slowly. But their cells operate according to a new set of biological rules, producing familiar proteins with a reconstructed genetic code.

so i just learned that baby eels (also known as eel larvae???)
start out looking like this monstrosity and can stay that way for SEVERAL YEARS
Found out from my sister (she’s studying to be a marine biologist) that manatees are constantly a little itchy so they rub up against rocks and like it when people scratch them.
I am now ditching grad school to be a manatee scritcher, who wants my resume??
*avengers playing kahoot and Peter is in first but misses one question and get bumps to last*
Steve: it’s okay kid-
Peter:
Jade and striped icebergs. “When seawater at depths of more than 1,200 feet freezes to the underside of massive ice shelves like East Antarctica’s Amery Ice Shelf, it forms ‘marine ice.’ Enormous hunks of ice calve—or break off—from the ice shelf, creating icebergs. When one of these icebergs overturns, its jade underside is revealed. The wondrous color of this ‘marine ice’ results from organic matter dissolved in the seawater at those great depths,” explained Audubon Magazine. “Green icebergs are infrequently seen because their verdant bellies are underwater; it’s only when they flip over, a rare event, that their richly colored regions can be seen before they melt. Striped icebergs, perhaps even more scarce than jade bergs, are thought to form in one of two ways: either meltwater refreezes in crevasses formed atop glaciers before they calve icebergs (creating blue stripes), or seawater freezes inside cracks beneath ice shelves (creating green stripes).”

Me a real pleasant fellow today. Decided he wanted to date and marry my underage sister after the fact. It was a lot of fun reading the things he wrote. Just going to leave this here as a warning for the other girls out there. He was getting pretty sketchy. His account is @williamrawson257 for anyone on the look out.
People keep pronouncing it Boy-ZEE but every time you open your mouth to correct them you can’t speak, they keep chanting it while you clutch at your throat. It’s closing up faster.
Someone says that all there is out there are potato farms. You laugh but when you turn around you’re stranded in a field filled with potatoes and when you turn back around, the person is gone. There’s only potatoes.
You’re driving through a desert, an empty road ahead of you. Your eyes drift shut and when you open them you’re in the mountains, jagged peaks soaring above you and a hawk shrieks overhead. You swerve and you’re suddenly in the rolling plains. You blink again and you’re back in the desert. There’s no way to get off the highway.
You and your friends go down to float the river and you can hear their laughter just around the bend. You can’t catch up to them and the bend just keeps getting further away.
You’re stuck coming down from the mountains, waiting for cows to cross. You can’t see the end of the line of them, they just keep coming.
You’re at a Boise State football game. The turf is a dizzying, bright blue in the sunlight. It looks like it’s getting bigger, until you realize it’s slowly swallowing up the stadium. You realize it’s somehow 2010. It’s the Fiesta Bowl all over again and Coach Peterson smiles up at you with too many teeth. You’re falling in a pit of blue.
There’s a knock on your door. It’s smiling missionaries who don’t blink, they begin to talk in unison. You try to tell them you’re fine but it’s like they don’t see you. You shut the door quickly and you can hear them still talking. There’s a knock on your back door.
You thought Hells Canyon was just a name. But disappearances are multiplying and there’s a figure just past the ledge beckoning you closer.
“I’ll leave one day,” you say one year. “I’ll leave one day,” you say three years later. “I’ll leave one day,” you say —
