cyan gaze scrutinized the selection of furniture laid out before her. finally, she was attempting to get her apartment fully together. an assistant fashion designer was a dream start of a career, but it meant living check to check. but, she was rather used to that. a COFFEE TABLE was the last missing piece to supposed adulthood. “do you think that one would be easy to put together ?? instructions are for wussies, so i refuse to use them.” beverly jested, with an airy chuckle. always so stubborn, yet equally DETERMINED. “i like to think the sense of accomplishment at putting it together without it is worth the struggle. like sure, some of my other furniture pieces are a little WOBBLY, but they work.” her usual, affable grin quick to appear. “or maybe this one would be easier ??” she questioned, pointing to another. “what do you think ??”
missing people beverly didn’t know she should be missing was quite an ODD feeling, but fuck was it s t r o n g the moment she saw any of the losers’ faces. the best of friends she’d ever had. yet, all forgotten in the haze of childhood. “oh my god, mike !!” eyes crinkled along a joyous smile as she met him where he stood, arms wrapping around him in a warm embrace. MEMORIES — a deep voice, the day these bonds were forged, a bloodied rock, a different voice, one mentioning that he heard the name mike, though that one of the three immediately forgotten again. “look at you, all grown up.” she teased, squeezing once more before pulling away to get another look. “how the hell have you been ??”

mike was in a weirdly good place, mentally right now. most of his other friends had turned up and although he knew his memories weren’t quite right, at least he had the information he needed to keep going. and this gala was nice. seeing so many people with their loved ones, happy with each other, it put the nightmares he had of pennywise to the back of his mind. here, he could do what richie had asked of him - think about something that wasn’t it or the strange events that brought them to this town. what he could do, however, was be thrilled to see beverly. “you’re here too,” he exclaimed, stepping forward. “bev?”
selfishly, it was relaxing being with only mike. it was strange, being jealous yet also fearful of whatever parts of the future were missing. but mike’s company was also simply welcomed, always would be. “it’s going well. the apartment is all furnished. i even have legit silverware, not just plastic from all the takeaway.” eyes glistened with jest, studying him carefully, taking him in. she had a feeling she’d be doing that for a while, always making sure they were really HERE. “what about you ?? finding everything alright ?? you know if you ever need anything don’t hesitate to ask.” another sip, eyes widening with excitement. “we should all go the the arcade sometime, for old times sake. && the lake when it gets a bit warmer out. you know if—” we’re still here ?? haven’t figured it all out by then ?? “— might as well enjoy the good parts of this place, right ??”

as much as mike did genuinely care for all the losers, he knew he wasn’t as close to some of them as the others. yet he was kind of glad for bev at the moment. were they the best of friends in their youth? no, but she was the only other member of their little gang that was suffering from memory loss and mike found it oddly comforting, even if he felt guilty about it. because she’d understand where he was coming from. how difficult it was to understand when the others started talking about the things he didn’t recall. and, well, it was just nice to see her, really. as they settled into the booth with their coffee orders, he couldn’t help smile. “how are you settling in? you got yourself sorted out?”

Listening to the girl, Jo nodded her head and smiled. “That honestly sounds like it would be such a nice idea. Then you have easy access and a a great way to display everything.” She agreed, already able to see the idea she pictured in her head. “Um, I was just kind of looking for something that was made of a good wood. I’m really not one to do the whole color scheme thing. That would most like be more of something my sisters Beth or Amy would focus on.” She commented, letting her shoulders shrug. “I just need something that, when I spend days at, isn’t going to be completely useless.” Jo explained as she went back to looking at the furniture in front of her. “Um, sure! I’m more than happy to work together on this. Maybe it’ll be a lot faster and I won’t have to make all the decisions on my own.” She laughed.
・・・・・・
“something about having another person back you up in a decision makes it so much easier,” bev affirmed, holding out her hand for the other to shake. “i’m beverly marsh.” at the mention of two other sisters, she couldn’t help the curiosity. an only child, && a relief it was simply based off how things were, she still wondered what it’d be like to have siblings. “sounds like you guys at least BALANCE each other out well.” bev warmly quipped, listening carefully to what the other was looking for. “actually, the one i got wasn’t anything super fancy, but i’ve liked it.” the redhead took a few steps down the aisle before pointing out the desk she bought a few weeks back. “i’m not sure what you’re using it for, but i have a computer && printer on it && still have room for a few of my sketchpads.” bev still preferred pen && paper to the art program she had. “but if you’re gonna be sitting a while, i recommend a good chair above anything else.”

“It’s kind of like having another person with you in real life tells those voices fighting with you in your head to hush up.” She commented, gesturing to her head as she spoke. “Jo March.” Jo introduced confidently, as if it was a name that was going to mean something one day, which she was determined to make true. Hearing her comment, the writer couldn’t help but laugh and shrug her shoulders. “Well, there are four March girls total and we’re each different in our own way. So, you could say we balance each other out, but for the most part I think we just try each other insane.” She replied. Moving with the girl, Jo eyed the desk she was pointing out and let out a small sigh. “Well, I’m a writer you see. Currently just doing little short stories and things for the local paper, but I’m planning to write the next great novel. Something people have never seen before!” Her words came out fast and she was proud of what she planned to do. “I agree on the chair thing though. The chairs at work are terrible and I refuse to have my chair at home be the same way.”
・・・・・・
instinctively eyes widened at the thought — four girls. while of course not all were vindictive, but a group of any always made her a bit apprehensive. greta && her squad left a longer, deeper impact on bev than she would ever like to admit. “well that just means you’re doing your jobs, right ?? some of my friends are more like brothers ; if you don’t annoy them every once in a while there’s no sense of accomplishment.” beverly jested, a light titter chimed as gaze warmed. beverly listened intently, talk of DREAMS, seeing others light up with all they wanted to do, bev loved to see it. meant even after all the shit in the world there was still HOPE. “i’ll make sure i keep my eyes peeled at any bookstore for ya. any genres you like in particular ??” nose scrunched, nodding along in agreement. “a bad chair will make you feel old with all the inevitable back pains. too young for that shit. but your work should definitely try to do better. forty hours a week is already torture enough at any place.”

Listening to her, Bill couldn’t help the sigh that he left out. It wasn’t in frustration at her, but at the situation as a whole. This was going to be easier if they all had their memories, but that didn’t seem to be in the cards. “No, well, yes..” His head shook. “It’s complicated. We all lost our memories when we left town, but Mike stayed and brought us all back when IT came back twenty-seven years later. Long story short, our memories came back and we fought IT and finally destroyed him, but we lost some of our friends along the way.” He told her. “However, it seems we’re all here now, but some of us don’t have our memories anymore.” Bill knew this was going to be a lot for her, but part of him hoped it might help jog some of her memories. “We could never let him have that kind of power. We’d all be screwed in the end.”
🎈❤️🔥
beverly’s mind tried to keep pace with bill’s proclamation, but it was near impossible. it certainly made some sense due to the lapse in time. going from the 80s to now had once seemed so normal ; never allowed to overthink it too much before she’d conveniently lose her train of thoughts or would imagine far worse nightmares. face losing most of its color, she somehow knew it was TRUE, what bill was saying. she turned to the nearby table, slightly trembling hands reaching for a much needed drink before forcing up a slight grin. “please tell me this is the plot of one of your future novels. it’s pretty damn good.” a few sips && sapphire gaze studied him closely, sucking in a deep breath. “what do you mean by LOST ??” did this also mean that some of the dreams she’d been having were actually true ?? how’d she ever know ?? “&& do you know who else doesn’t have them ??”
weight swayed from foot to foot in rhythm with the beat as DREAMY gaze wandered around the venue until she spotted a familiar face. a slight squeal erupted from luna as danced her way over, eyes wide, bright. “lara jean !! i hope you know how SPECTACULAR you look. if not, i’ll make sure to remind you every hour until you’re sure of it.” luna meant it to. knowing her she’d set an alarm to remind herself to do just that. “have you seen the chocolate fountain yet ??” luna’s thoughts were always rapid with no real destination. && currently ?? her massive sweet tooth was on the mind. “— it’s the biggest one i’ve ever seen.” @dcvinely / lara jean covey.
there wasn’t a lot of people left in johanna’s life — in fact there were more people now than there were just a few years ago. the quarter quell, the rebellion ... most things johanna would never chose to relive. but, somewhere in all that a few people managed to stick, not that she’d ever admit that to them. but she was getting desperate to figure out what was going on, to know she wasn’t completely alone or losing it more than she already had. the bakery, she should’ve known he’d be here. “— one of whatever’s freshest. && of course, anything you got on why the hell we’re here.” johanna managed a small smirk, warm for her ; she always was rather straight to the point.

Peeta worked easily in the bakery, finding peace among the recipes and the decorating. He was good at it and enjoyed every minute of it. He got up early in the morning and went to work, spent most of his time in the back baking and decorating everything in his path. Most o the time he didn’t interact too much with customers, but today happened to be one of the days where everyone was pitching in where they could. Peeta was spending a lot of time up front and in the back, trying to keep up with everything. On his trip back to the front, he saw a customer waiting and took the chance to help. “Welcome.” He spoke in a soft voice. “Is there something I can help you with?”

Listening to her, he wasn’t surprised by the respond that she was having. it was similar to the response that they all were having when they first went back to Derry. None of them remembered anything, and when they did, they all freaked out. Hearing her statement, he shook his head. “I’m sorry Bev, I wish it was. But it isn’t. This is what’s really happening.” If Bill knew of a way to get them all back to their homes, their lives, he would, but he had yet to figure anything out. “A couple of them died. Stan and Eddie. Well, Stan never made it back to Derry, and Eddie didn’t make it out of the fight.” He explained, keeping his voice low. “So far I only know of Mike not having them, but I haven’t talk to the others yet.”

bill’s words only made her finish off the drink that much sooner. dead. in the bathtub — a thought she couldn’t place but was repeating over && over again. she could hardly imagine it. the group always felt like it was supposed to be seven. five would be incomplete. while she couldn’t remember it, already it felt like parts of her were missing. “— so what you’re saying is whatever is happening here is at least sort of like what happened at home, even the second time ??” focusing on missing memories would only cause stress at the given moment, bev instead tried to focus on something she maybe could somewhat handle. “if that’s the case then we gotta get out.” though hearing of the closed border wouldn’t help the cause. “you reckon whatever thing is blocking the ways out goes underneath the street level ?? that it’d—” she paused, hating to even say it. “— block passageways in the sewers too ??”
kissed you when i saw you. stared deep into your eyes. i meant to say ' i love you ', but instead i said goodbye. shadows in the city ; i'm a stranger to myself, on these streets i'm someone else. shadows in the city ; like a demon in the dark come to tear us apart.
