Struggle-La Lucha newspaper and the Socialist Unity Party / Partido de Socialismo Unido salute the working people of Venezuela for the successful reelection of President Nicolás Maduro Moros.
For us in the United States, your victory is also a victory for working, poor, and oppressed people in the belly of the beast. For months, Wall Street and its media were confidently predicting the overthrow of the revolutionary process in the Bolivarian Republic.

“think of this when people say voting doesn’t make a difference”—it doesn’t make a difference when the party you vote for is not interested in wielding power on behalf of their constituents and back down whenever marginally challenged.
reblog if you are a law-abiding citizen who wishes no ill upon former US presidents 😇
Ive said it before but I feel I must say it again; Fascism, as defined by Benito Mussolini, is the union of state and corporate power.
Fascism thrives within liberal and neoliberal democracies.
Fascists aren't just those guys you don't like. Fascists aren't just people executing minorities in the streets. Fascists aren't just people building camps. Fascists aren't just white men with tiki torches.
Keeping Trump out of power doesn't keep fascism out of power.
Joe Biden is ideologically a fascist. So is Kamala Harris. So is Hillary Clinton. So is every politician that listens to corporate lobbies.
Every politician that engages in insider trading is a fascist by definition.
Beat that Vote Blue No Matter Who Drum all you like, but I need you to acknowledge that you're putting a fascist in power.
In fact, understand that you are putting effective fascists in power. Understand that your quiescence is what makes fascism function.
Blue Fascism is worse than Red Fascism because it puts the trembling useless creature that is the 'liberal leftist' to sleep. Which means that instead of caring about the world around them they can slumber beneath the earth until they pupate like cicadas in 4 years and beat that fucking drum again.
Bangladesh is currently on the brink of civil war.
The prime minister, Sheik Hasina is extremely corrupt and has recently stated, and I am paraphrasing, “why should razakars (the ones who supported Pakistan during the genocide they committed in Bangladesh back in the 1970s. Research the Liberation War) take the jobs of the children of the veterans that have fought in the war?“
This has led to mass prejudice. People and the police are harassing innocents, attacking universities, going into peoples home to harm them. There is no proof that these people are razakars, they are attacking based on a feeling of all things.
They are killing and harming people near constantly and Bangladesh has turned off the network over there, keeping people from asking for help from the outside. I am terrified for my friends and family over there. A friend of mine, her cousins are all currently in the hospital from having acid thrown at them and being beaten brutally by the police.
I am not asking for donations or charity of any kind, all I ask is for you all to please educate yourselves and spread the word in whichever way you can. Even a simple instagram story can help. They should not be ignored.
Thank you for your time.
July 25th is The International Day of Solidarity with Antifascist Prisoners! We are calling on everyone opposed to fascism to mark next Thursday with a demonstration of solidarity and support for the 35+ antifascists currently behind bars for the "crime" of defending their communities from the scourge of bigotry, fascism, and hatred. Not sure what you can do? Some ideas: 1) Write to an antifascist prisoner. Letters from the outside mean A LOT when you're locked up inside! You'll find a list of the mailing addresses of antifascist prisoners here. Please also read this tip-loaded primer for writing to prisoners! 2) Spread the word about the day & things people can do to support antifa prisoners. You'll find everything you need to do that right here. If you're posting about it on social media, please use the hashtag #j25antifa so your posts are easy for others to find! 3) Get this t-shirt:
These shirts were designed by a former antifascist prisoner & all proceeds are donated to current antifascist prisoners. Get yours here. 4) Donate to antifascist prisoners. We run a donation page for antifascist prisoners and donate 100% of the proceeds directly to antifascist prisoners, either via their prison commissaries, families, support groups, or legal teams. You'll find a list of other ideas here. JULY 25TH = THE TIME TO SHOW SOME SOLIDARITY WITH OUR COMRADES!

Something that helps
If you blurt out something that you thought would be funny but it comes across as insensitive, just quickly say, “I’m sorry, that was rude, what I meant was…”
If you say something in anger or frustration, take a breath and say, “I’m sorry, that was hurtful, let me rephrase…”
If you say something heartfelt, but it comes across as insincere or ironic, say “That sounds like I’m just saying it, but I’m being truly honest…”
If you accidentally tell the waiter “enjoy your meal” just laugh and say a quick “so sorry, my brain isn’t working today!” and you will most likely get a commiserating chuckle in return.
Most of the time, the other person will accept your apology with no harm done. Sometimes they even insist they understood what you meant the first time and clarification was not needed. At times, maybe they have a right to be upset, but it never hurts to apologize again so they know that you’re taking their feelings into account.
Repeat after me. It’s okay to be bad at conversation. Knowing how to apologize makes it easier.
In Brazil, this couple planted 2 million trees in 18 years, returning 172 bird species, 33 mammals, 15 amphibians, 15 reptiles and 293 plant species to the area.
The whole world should know them. This is Lélia Wanick and Sebastião Salgado.
The couple decided to start the Terra Institute, a small organization that planted 2 million plants and revived the forest.
"There is only one creature that can convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, and that is a tree. We need to replant the forests."
Using only local plants, the couple rebuilt the entire ecosystem from scratch and the area flourished significantly, allowing the fauna to return; thanks to their work, Lélia and Sebastião saved dozens of endangered species.
"The earth was sad as I was, everything was destroyed. Then my wife got a fantastic idea to replant this forest: all the insects, fish and birds returned, and thanks to the new growth of the trees I was born again."
I wrote a whole ass very detailed post but Tumblr drafts ate yet it's important to get the message out rn at peak hours so here's a summary:
Injuries have risen to 100 btw. PM Auntie called protestors the Bangladeshi equivalent of the Nazis. Injuries are mostly from Dhaka University. Jahangirnagar University was also attempted to be breached (students are currently occupying the halls). Emergency wards are getting attacked. Local media coverage is extremely limited. International coverage is necessary for survival - if BD govt will bend at anyone's whim, it's (unfortunately) the western powers. Big news agency coverages will ensure human rights violations and war crimes will be minimal if at all. Please signal boost. It will be more than helpful if we get international interest in this. Please.
It is almost 4AM It hurts to think how many students might not live to see the sunrise.
So I wrote a recommended reading list awhile back, but have increasingly become aware it can be daunting. As such, I wanted to present a simplified sort of guide to leftist theory. So here’s a sequence of texts to help you get to grips with it all, rather than just a mass of recommendations. So let’s get started!
The Communist Manifesto. Just read it, comrade. It’s like fifty pages long, and intentionally simplified, so as to be accessible. Start here.
What next? You wanna expand your familiarity with Marx & Engels? How about Socialism: Utopian And Scientific? Written by Engels as a truncated, simplified form of Marx’ magnum opus Capital (which you should also read, eventually, but is a bit much to start). Want more? Check out Wage Labour And Capital, another of Marx & Engels’ shorter works which is a good, simple introduction to understanding our plight in both human and economic terms. Want something similar but not limited to the perspective of just a couple (visionary) gentlemen? The Conquest Of Bread is also short-ish and an easy intro, but this time from a less orthodox angle (anarchism!?); simultaneously a plea for tenderness and a call to arms.
So now, you’re comfortable with Marx et al, but you want something a bit more pracitically engaged with revolutionary movements? Try Quotations From Chairman Mao. There’s a reason the Black Panthers prescribed members read this little red book; rather than a single long text, the short, punchy form gives a lot of good ideas to the budding revolutionary. Want something a bit more in-depth? State And Revolution is surprisingly applicable to our present predicament; this is how we agitate, educate, and organise, regardless of how we identify. Speaking of which, want something that won’t scare people with the mere mention of Lenin or Mao? Consider Reform Or Revolution? The question is rhetorical, so why not get familiar with the rhetoric.
Okay, but maybe your interest in leftism is via a specific experience of marginalisation. These old school classics are all well and good, but what about something that really speaks to you?
Are you trans, or have you got a particular interest in gender and its politics? Read Transgender Liberation: A Movement Whose Time Has Come, which lays the groundwork, and is still pertinent today. Want something a bit more in-depth and academic? Gender Trouble: Feminism And The Subversion Of Identity can equip you to rhetorically destroy TERF nonsense like nothing else, among other things!
Right, and what about the intersections of gender and other forms of marginalisation? Feminism For The 99 may be a good starting point! Maybe something a bit more introspective, that tackles race and identity? Sister Outsider: Essays And Speeches is a digestible and inspiring collection which you can read in short bursts or all at once.
But some of this seems a bit Amero-centric, huh. If you wanna grapple with racialised imperialism more broadly, maybe delve into Discourse On Colonialism. Oh, but that seems to ignore the significance of sex and gender? Well luckily we can ask Can The Subaltern Speak? which may draw a lot of these threads together.
Yeah, but some of this postcolonial stuff seems a bit tangled up with history and international relations, so maybe a more in-depth understanding can be gleaned from Orientalism. Looking for more contemporary, less academic? Well we should all know by now Decolonization Is Not A Metaphor.
And what about the environment; isn’t capitalism largely a threat because of it’s refusal to address climate change? Yes, have a look at An Ecosocialist Manifesto.
Or do you find yourself asking Are Prisons Obsolete? Well let me tell you, you’re not alone!
The point is that this stuff is easier than you may think, and readily accessible. And yes, we’re in this together, and we’ve all got to co-educate, but it starts with you.

Buildings are easier to defend than outdoor camps AND they can be more disruptive. For anyone ready to escalate for Gaza, check out this re-issue of a text that has been used in previous movements.
The Liberal is always INNOCENT; he has nothing to do with anything; he never acts:
“God forbid! I didn’t send for the Police! I didn’t intend any VIOLENCE! I just didn’t want an Unobjective Person in My Department. If he was jailed or shot by the Police, THAT’S NOT MY CONCERN; I’M COMPLETELY INNOCENT! I DIDN’T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THAT, and in any case, that merely shows what kind of person HE really was.”
The Liberal’s project is to exclude the radical from society, but he does not take responsibility for the project; he realizes his project in stages, but he is only responsible for the “innocent” first stage. OTHERS DO THE REST. The Liberal merely initiates the process, and is not responsible for what the others do.
The Reactionary hits the radical directly; the Liberal does not do his own hitting. The Liberal merely PROVOKES the radical until he responds to the provocation, and when he responds, THE COPS GET THE RADICAL. The Liberal maintains his good conscience: HE didn’t act--the radical acted; HE didn’t repress the radical--the cops did. THE LIBERAL IS ALWAYS INNOCENT; his only desire is peace and quiet.
The Reactionary throws out a radical and then has him arrested for Loitering or Conspiracy or outside Agitation if the radical returns to fight; the Reactionary “eggs on” and harasses until the radical is provoked to hit back, and then has him arrested for Assault and Battery; the Reactionary tries to exclude the radical from any sources of income in order to have him locked up as a thief. To the Reactionary, the radical is ALREADY A CRIMINAL WHEN HE EXPRESSES HIS THOUGHTS.
The Liberal knows just as well as the Reactionary that “The cops’ll get ‘im”; HE COUNTS ON THE COPS TO PROTECT HIS PEACE AND QUIET; but, as Rafferty repeatedly observed, THE LIBERAL DOESN’T WANT TO SEE THE COPS WHO PROTECT HIM.
The Liberal can be compared to the Medieval Church. The Church excommunicated a heretic, but did not itself put the heretic to death. The Civil Authority, the Secular Authority, took charge of the heretic’s body. The Church was innocent; the Civil Authorities and the Executioner were the ones responsible for physical extermination. The excommunicators of the Church maintained clean consciences.
Thus also the Liberal: All he does is to excommunicate the radical, to exclude him “spiritually”; the Civil Authorities do the rest. At every single step he applies systematic terror and violence, and at every single step he manages to maintain his clean conscience.
The Liberal ALREADY KNOWS that when his “Leftist Colleague” is an unemployed radical he will do something for which it will be legitimate to throw him in jail, but the Liberal doesn’t want to be aware that HIS PEACE AND QUIET ARE MAINTAINED THROUGH TERRORISM AND VIOLENCE. In other words, the Liberal’s weapons are the same as the reactionary’s; the only difference between them is that the Liberal doesn’t look, and has a good conscience. He’s “tolerant,” he “reads radical literature,” he’s the “only one who talks to radicals,” he’s MORAL in every single way; he goes out of his way to “help radicals”; he’ll do everything for radicals which will help him keep his good conscience WHILE HE CONTINUES TO RELY ON TERROR AND VIOLENCE.
Liberal professors and students whose situations can only be maintained through terror and violence, through systematic psychological and physical murder, advertise “Make Love Not War.” Liberal students who have ALREADY CHOSEN to help maintain the dominant project when their time comes, are busy “accumulating” large “stocks” of good conscience while they can, while their “new styles of life” do not yet conflict with their future “responsibilities.”
Liberals are not “moderate.” That’s their own self-image. They’re extremists, but unlike reactionaries, THEY’RE EXTREMISTS WITH GOOD CONSCIENCES. Their instruments are not “ideas”; their instruments are TERROR and VIOLENCE. But unlike lynchers, THE LIBERALS TURN THEIR EYES AWAY to maintain their innocence.
People are EXCLUDED; thousands of people are OUTSIDERS; yet the Liberals who forced them out are TOTALLY GUILTLESS, and have the illusion that they are the ones who are “sympathetic” to the Radical Students, the Emotionally What-Have-You Students, the Hippie Students. The Liberal who is the first to move WHENEVER SOMEONE CROSSES ONE OF HIS LINES at the same time “contributes generously” to “Left-wing organizations” and “is against the war in Vietnam.” He is a supporter of all GOOD THINGS; he is a GOOD PERSON; he’s the BEST PERSON IN THE WORLD. He is able to accept physical and psychological TERROR and VIOLENCE WITH A GOOD CONSCIENCE AND CHRISTIAN MORALS.

Hot take: If you refuse to vote for Biden over his handling of Israel-Gaza, you do not get the right to protest against Trump rounding up all the POC/LGBTQ/neurodivergents and executing them.
Because you let that happen; you doomed millions of lives because Biden isn’t perfect. The Palestinians would be ashamed of you.
And funnily enough, since Trump is 1,000 more Zionist than Biden, you probably also caused their genocide, too.
I had a great interaction on bsky that used the term, "political cicada" and I decided to run with it.
