Increased accessibility benefits EVERYONE!
Here are some ways YOU can advocate for increased accessibility:
Online:
Use alt-text to describe any images
Record events
Have closed captioning
Share content warnings
Avoid flashing lights or imagery
At Work:
Invest in meaningful Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Initiatives
Provide more PAID time off
Avoid ableist language (like 'lame' or 'crazy')
Provide remote working options
UNIONIZE!
For In-Person Events:
Communicate ANY walking distance (in distance, not minutes!)
Include information about public transit
Provide gender neutral bathrooms
Avoid heavy perfumes or scents
Hire sign language interpreters

We are well beyond canary in the coalmine warning levels with the way trans people and particularly trans women are treated on this site.
Maybe you've heard the metaphor of allowing wolves and sheep to share the same space, welcoming everyone. You end up with just wolves because allowing them in that space makes it unsafe for any sheep. Or the story about how a nazi goes into a dive bar and is refused service. The bartender then explains to someone else at the bar that if you serve them once they tell their friends and before you know it you're the nazi bar they all go to and normal customers don't feel safe.
Terfs and other bigots are seeing these targeted harassment campaigns succeed against trans women and rejoicing. They see Tumblr ban them and officially stand by those decisions as endorsement for their harassment. It's a sign to bigots across the internet that Tumblr is a good place for them.
And what's more is that a lot of us probably don't realize just how much trans women contribute to Tumblr. The women banned recently were sources of site-wide memes and posts I wasn't even aware originated from them.any years old memes and references can be traced back to trans women on this site.
How many of these folks have to be removed before this is no longer a site you want to be a part of it? Sure you cultivate your own experience, but you can't follow or interact with people who aren't here. And if I wanted to interact with the nazis and terfs I'd go to reddit.
I encourage everyone to reblog this. Trans women shouldn't have to be the only ones speaking out against the bigotry they're experiencing. They shouldn't be the only ones risking their blogs being nuked by staff. We have to stand with them.
hey friends.
I want ya’ll to be aware of a situation going down in Tampa.
5 student activists facing up to 10 years in prison on bogus charges.
the fascists are seeking to build their capacity to crush dissent. we cannot allow them to do this unchallenged.
please read about all this and get involved. and reblog!! repost if you want too.
Bangladesh is currently on the brink of civil war.
The prime minister, Sheik Hasina is extremely corrupt and has recently stated, and I am paraphrasing, “why should razakars (the ones who supported Pakistan during the genocide they committed in Bangladesh back in the 1970s. Research the Liberation War) take the jobs of the children of the veterans that have fought in the war?“
This has led to mass prejudice. People and the police are harassing innocents, attacking universities, going into peoples home to harm them. There is no proof that these people are razakars, they are attacking based on a feeling of all things.
They are killing and harming people near constantly and Bangladesh has turned off the network over there, keeping people from asking for help from the outside. I am terrified for my friends and family over there. A friend of mine, her cousins are all currently in the hospital from having acid thrown at them and being beaten brutally by the police.
I am not asking for donations or charity of any kind, all I ask is for you all to please educate yourselves and spread the word in whichever way you can. Even a simple instagram story can help. They should not be ignored.
Thank you for your time.
One way to be an ally to disabled queer people:
If you want to attend a pride event, ask about their accessibility plans and policies.
Ask about their covid policies. Ask if they are accessible to mobility aid users. Ask if they will have strobe lights, if there will be bathrooms, if there is water. Make the event planners consider who they may have left out, even if the person being left out isn't you. Have your friends ask as well. Help create a demand. Help get conversations started. Help people see where things could be more accessible.
Because when we, the disabled, ask these questions? We're much more likely to get ignored, and much less likely to be heard when we raise hell.
So help us raise hell when we need it. Demand to know why your local Pride event isn't requiring masks, or is charging for water, or doesn't have wheelchair ramps, or whatever other accessibility issue you catch.
Stop leaving us behind. We need your fucking help.
A.I. photos are flooding social media and contributing to an Internet where we can't believe what we see. Spotting A.I. 📷s is an important media literacy skill.
None of us have time to research every image we see. We just need people to notice BEFORE THEY LIKE OR SHARE that an image might be fake. If unsure, check it or don't share.
I've started drawing some comics explaining the basic of AI spot-checking and media literacy in the age of disinformation. Follow along here or on my Twitter.
I think the reason there isn't this big outcry around seemingly random transwomen getting banned is because the fucking CEO of tumblr isn't making it into a big spectacle like he did with predstrogen. Theyre just fucking banning tgirls quietly and ofc its only other tgirls who are noticing and speaking up about it
