Never... And I mean NEVER beat yourself up for not being able (for whatever reason) to do a full ritual for a Sabbath. Since today (August 1st) is Lammas/Lughnasadh I thought I'd share somethings you can do on a Sabbath without it being a full-on ritual at your altar with offerings.
Remember that a Sabbath is personal. If you take a moment to speak with the God and Goddess, or your patron deity, that is perfectly fine. Give thanks and ask for continued prosperity. Acknowledging the holiday within yourself is more than enough; you can light candles if you like but you can speak to you deity without any supplies.
Spend time on your grimoire [book of shadows] simply spending some part of the day devoted to your craft can be very rewarding. If a Sabbath comes up quickly and you don't have anything prepared then you can make a page in your BoS for that particular Sabbath with all of its associations and lore; or you could plan a Sabbath ritual in your book to use next year.
Eat witchy. By this I mean you can do something small to still commemorate the holiday. You could quickly look up associated herbs with the particular Sabbath and make tea if you have it available. Other than that, most Sabbaths are associated with wheat- that being said, having a quiet moment to yourself eating some toast with honey on it and thanking your deity/deities for the abundance of food and a beautiful harvest. [I know most of us don't harvest our wheat and make our own bread, but someone did, so give thanks] If you can't eat gluten then some fruit and milk'n honey are good universal Sabbath foods.
Hello my greenies! I have here a recipe to celebrate Litha! I am recovering from the removal of all four of my wisdom teeth and am unable to feast accordingly. I hope everyone can celebrate and eat for me, so I have here a favorite chicken recipe that I have especially during Litha and many times during the summer.
I will put the corresponding meanings of all the ingredients for the recipe at the end of the post and hope everyone enjoys my recipe. I hope to be posting more soon!
***You can use these ingredients for a whole chicken, but the amount for the coating will need to be adjusted and so will the cooking time. There are many websites that can tell you how to prepare a whole chicken, if that is also what you are looking for.
Ingredients
3 or 4 chicken breasts (I use 3, but I think the recipe would work with four as well.)
1 tbsp of dried lavender
2 tbsp of dried thyme or 4 sprigs of fresh and pulled off the stem.
drizzle of olive oil or coconut oil
1 tbsp of garlic powder
1 and ½ tbsp of onion powder
3 tbsp of honey
1 whole lemon.
dash of salt and pepper
dash of oregano
Directions
If lavender is not crushed, crush until powdery. Then in a small bowl, mix lavender, thyme, garlic powder, and onion powder.
In a separate bowl, place the three chicken breasts and add the salt and pepper. Mix well and after drizzle the oil, honey, and fresh squeezed lemon juice. Mix thoroughly.
Place in the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Make sure all parts of the chicken are covered.
Cover the bowl and let the chicken sit for three hours in the refrigerator.
Once complete, stir the chicken in the bowl again and then place the chicken into a roasting pan and sprinkle oregano on the tops.
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Place the chicken in the oven and bake for 45 minutes, make sure you flip after 23 minutes. When done, take the chicken out and let it sit for about 5 minutes before you eat. While it sits begin the chant.
âWith the heat of the day and kiss of the night, summer bring love and spirit to me. Let me feel the child-like dance. Let me embrace myself. Â I am my own fire.â
While speaking these words allow yourself to hold in the heat inside you. Let it move around through your system and on your skin. Rise that heat up into your neck and float around your head. Then have it come out of you, so now you only feel a slight glow. Have this warmth embrace your house and everything in it until that happiness is surrounding you.
Then enjoy your meal!
*I always find that this meal goes well with some honey garlic potatoes, thyme roasted carrots, Zucchini casserole, and fresh baked flaky biscuits.
If you decide to make this recipe please send me pictures! Although I canât eat any solids at the moment, I would feel satisfied just by seeing everyone else enjoying their meals. I hope you enjoy this recipe and have a special Litha!

Now this is a recipe I promised myself I would make my kids when and if I had them. I actually have a folder on my phone labeled âRecipes to make my future childrenâ. You know those hot recipes that your parents used to make for you when you were little before they got consumed by their work.
I never really had that growing up, so I always made a promise to myself if I were to have kidsâŚ.I would wake up early just to make them a big breakfast, and make sure they knew they were loved.
Anyways! Here is a recipe for some delicious hot cakes! Great with butter and maple syrup. To Serve hot.
2 cups flour
4 tbsp melted butter
1 cup buttermilk
2 large eggs
1/3 cup sugar
A dash of vanilla extract
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp baking soda
Butter and syrup to serve
In a medium sized bowl, mix together your dry ingredients. Pour in your melted butter, buttermilk, and vanilla. Mix clockwise with a wooden spoon to promote good luck. Once everything is thoroughly mixed, beat your eggs and add them into the mix. Youâll want to mix the batter until it is smooth. This should take around 3 minutes or a quick play of La Vie En Rose by Edith Piaf.Â
If it is too thick for your liking, add some more milk to thin it out, and if it is too thin for your liking add in more flour.
Scoop about 1/3 cup of mixture (Thatâs about 3 oz) and pour into a hot pan, coated with melted butter or oil. Cook your pancakes on medium heat for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until done.
Serve fresh and hot, drizzled with maple syrup or honey, and with dripping butter melting from the top.
Enjoy, and rememberâŚ

Can you tell Iâm studying french again? Iâm trying to be more fluent, so if I made a mistake feel free to correct me!
⢠eat citrus fruits or drink fruit water as an alternative to mints. Fruit, especially sour fruit, promotes salivation, which helps to fight off bacteria in your mouth that causes bad breath. adding some strawberry, lemon, and kiwi slices to a bottle of water is a great way to keep your breath sweet.
⢠Next time you make guacamole, save the pit of the avocado, dry it, and keep it in your purse or on your person. Avocado pits are deeply symbolic of sex, lust, love, and beauty, and can help to attract romance. This symbolism dates back to the ancient aztecs, who named the avocado, âahacatl,â or âgreen testicle.â
⢠Dilute a few drops of pomegranate and rose oil in a teaspoon of coconut oil, and massage this into your neck, chest, and behind your ears as a perfume. The scent is light, seductive, and easy on your partnerâs taste buds when they go in to leave a few hickies. Plus, the coconut oil will leave your skin silky smooth and soft.
⢠Make some DIY jewelry out of wire and river pearl beads. Strings of river pearls can be found at most craft stores; theyâre quite cheap, but just as natural and magical as expensive round pearls. Pearls are associated with beauty and sensuality, as well as corresponding to the moon and Venus. They carry a soft energy that promotes both romantic and sexual activity. Red jasper, rose quartz, and rhodochrosite are also good.
⢠Rosewater. I know so many witches AND non-witches rave over rosewater, but the hype is for good reason. Using rosewater as an astringent facial mist is a refreshing and sensual finishing touch to your date night beauty routine. Rose energy enhances your beauty, and the barely noticeable scent will entice your partner to come a little closer.
⢠strawberries are a natural aphrodisiac. A stick or container of strawberry lip balm can easily be enchanted to make your lips look naturally ravishing with some rose quartz, red jasper, and a pink candle. Bonus points if itâs pink or red tinted.
⢠Body glitter!! I know this isnât everyoneâs cup of tea, but as someone who doesnât often wear makeup, I like to find new and exciting ways to glamourize my look without it. Moisturizing body bars and sprays can be found at stores like lush, (the shimmy shimmy bar is my fave,) or online. You can also make your own with some coconut oil, beeswax, essential and fragrance oils, and skin safe seaweed based glitter. I use body glitter as an extra kick to beauty glamours, and a physical reminder of how magically delicious I look.
Thatâs all I have for now, but if you have any of your own tips please feel free to add on! Much love and good luck to you all đ
A treat or breakfast, anytime you need a pick me up throughout the day. You can infuse these bars with your intentions, and charge them with a crystal of choice. I hope you guys enjoy! ~ Angel.
For the Bars:
½ cup (170g) honey
happiness, healing, prosperity
½ cup (120g) almond butter
prosperity, universal love, luck
1 box Honey Nut Cheerios
happiness, nostalgia, prosperity
For the Coating:
½ cups (75g) white chocolate
friendship, self-love, fun
1/3 cup (85g)Â greek yogurt
2 tbsp honey
happiness
1 tsp vanilla extract
self-love, attraction
On medium heat, combine honey, almond butter, and your honey nut cheerios in a rather large pan. Make sure the almond butter has melted and the cheerios are fully coated. This should take about no longer then 7 minutes. About 3 plays of Set Fire to the Rain by Adele.Â
Once you have done this, spread evenly into a glass baking dish until it sets completely. This can take 1-3 hours.
Cut them into bars. Combine your greek yogurt, honey, melted white chocolate, and vanilla together, and dip the bottoms into the mixture, Let them set for an additional hour.
Enjoy!
Yule-Mothers Night BlĂłt
I put this ritual together from various sources-I canât claim all the wording myself only the final form of the ritual. This was used for my kindreds the first Motherâs night. Because of our eclectic group, we chose not to only focus on Frigg, and instead included many mothers. As offerings, each of the members that wished to partake creates a Poppet from straw in the shape of a woman, which was burned at the end of the ritual.
Hallowing-
To be done before the arrival of guests- it is not essential that there be witnesses{this was done to cut down on time, during the cold winter}
Godi holds the ceremonial hammer and opens the circle with the traditional blessing:
In the Elhaz position standing facing North the Godi speaks:
Hammer to the North, hold and hallow this holy stead.
Hail Odin and the Northern forces
Godi faces East and speaks:
Hammer to the East, hold and hallow this holy stead.
Hail Freyr and the Eastern forces
Godi faces South and speaks:
Hammer to the South, hold and hallow this holy stead.
Hail Balder and the Southern forces
Godi faces West and speaks:
Hammer to the West, hold and hallow this holy stead.
Hail Thor and the Western forces
Hammer above and Below me Hold and hallow this holy stead
Hail the Aesir and Vanir, the Ancestors and the wights of the land
Sacred Fire
Loki.
Pine-fire.
Through the power of my love for you, I ask that you kindle the flame of this sacred fire.
As you have you have kindled one in me.
As we honor this evening our mothers, I ask for the comfort of the hearth for my kin.
May they know your gifts, as the gods have done
***
{godi speaks}
Welcome, to the Wolves of the North Motherâs night BlĂłt. I hope the evening finds you well and warm. Tonight, the longest night of the year, we come together in this circle to praise the many mothers in our lives.
Motherhood is a sacred charge, AVAILABLE, to every woman.
Whether conceived through coitus, or artificial insemination.
Through natural birth, or C-Section.
Born of the blood, or adopted.
How a woman becomes a mother varies, but what never changes is her love and her place as a guardian and teacher of the next generation. Like Skuld of the Norns and all mother Frigg, every mother is a safeguard of the future. Let us honor them.
Invocation
The Godi faces the altar, holding high with both hands a horn of mead and recites:
Meditation
{insert name/Gothi} will now lead us in a mediation; hold your poppet and reflect on your Disir, your ancestors and ancient mothers. Reflect on your living mothers and most of all your respect and love for them and theirs for you.
Hailing
We will now commence with a Sumbel, a little different than usual. In the first round I invite each of you to hail a goddess, Round two you may hail one of your Disir and on the third round a living mother of your family. At any point you may offer your poppet to whomever you would And As You cast it to the fire, reflect, feel their love for you. And give it in return. If you wish to pass on a round simply pass the horn to the person next to you.
Gythas example - Hail to Laufey, also called Nal, the Needle and weary Mother of Loki.
*poppet is offered to the fire*
Closing
Spirits of the nine realms we thank you for your presence here in this circle. We ask for your blessing and while you depart to your noble realm we bid you hail and farewell. I hereby release any Spirits that may have been imprisoned by this ceremony. Depart now in peace to your abodes and habitations. The blĂłt is now ended, let the merriment begin.
Hi! Could you write some offering ideas to Odin?
Hey there Nonny! Iâd love to take a crack at it.
Let me preface this all off by letting y'all know that I donât specifically work with Odin, so these offerings are just what I can figure from research and my vague gnosis of the Allfather. I invite all who have more intimate knowledge of Him to add on! And if you want more historical detail for any of these, let me know, Iâm dying to elaborate!
Whatever you offer, be sure to be hospitable. Basic offerings of food and drink are usually a good go to, but if you want to get deeper here are some ideas.
Alcohol, specifically beer and mead.
Shiny things, stuff a corvid would want to steal. Coins and jewellery are good go-tos.
Blood. Preferably of your enemies.
Meat! Cooked to perfection.
Whatever best snack you have in the house.
Things with the word âbastardâ on them.
Pinatas (animal sacrifices used to be hung by their neck until dead. This is the modern AllDad to the ancient AllFather)
Travel related things!
Neat books.
Something you made. A drawing of ravens, a neat stick you whittled, macaroni art of Sleipnir. Anything, as long as you put effort into it.
Learn all his names and use them.
Have a party and feed everyone! He does it daily in Valhalla, take His example.
Terrible dad jokes. Also springing said terrible dad jokes on loved ones.
Learn a new thing of philosophy and become more wise. Discuss.
Donate money to a charity that you think He would like (Heifer international lets you buy a goat for a family and that feels like a very Odin thing to do)
Learn the runes and use them to talk.
The important part of Norse offerings is that it is a sacrifice to make offerings. Something that would have benefitted you is instead going to the Gods, and there in lies the power. The Old Norse gave up their horses, their goats, and their slaves to the forests, weapons and money and tools to the lakes. And it takes a lot of work to make those things, not to mention the loss of lives.
Sometimes itâs the gods at your altar asking for the best chips in the bag, you know the ones you save for last because theyâre perfect. Sometimes itâs the gods taking form in a homeless man, asking for something to eat when you only have five bucks for your own lunch. Keep an eye out for the holy places, thereâs more places to make offerings than the altar.
A friend of mine that is not heathen was having trouble explaining blót to his girlfriend, who is also not heathen. I liked my answer enough that I wanted to share.
Blót is an Old Norse word that refers to a ritual of sacrifice.  It is the origin of the English words blood and blessing.
A central idea to Norse thought is that a gift demands a gift. Blót is a ritual in which we give gifts to the gods in thanks for what they have given us.  In pre-Christian times this was done through animal sacrifice, though sacrifice of weapons, armor, or other significant items like jewelry is known to have occurred.
The essence of blot, for me, is that I am giving back to the gods a gift of what they have given me after it has been shaped by my own efforts into something new. For instance, I will give jewelry I have made, or food I have cooked.
BlĂłt is a ritual of developing with the gods.  Friendship are formed by giving of yourself to another.  This ritual is about creating and sustaining friendship with the gods.Â

đLight and Love Witches!
hello my lovelies! long time no post! x
here is my midsummer/summer solstice/litha/etc spread! i recommend for crystal use incorporating rose quartz, citrine, moonstone, carnelian, garnet, tigers eye, or amber into ur practices on this beautiful day. of course, any crystals u can get your hands on will be beneficial if thats what you choose to do, but a little bit of rose quartz did no one any harm ;)Â
for candles/incense, i keep my black candles for the later period of the year when im screaming around my house n pretending to not b terrified of LIFE :) right now, i bring in red (love n passion, baby!), oranges (bring in those new beginnings which are always appearing in front of u this time of yr!), and yellows (communication n GOOD HEALTH SO SAY GOODBYE TO UR ALLERGIES - jks, sadly). white is always good - really just the classic warm colours that can be used for either chakra channeling, meditation, spell work, etc. in the incense-sphere, lavender and chamomile are GREAT for this time of year. I also rec dragons blood for any sexy charms/spells/etc u might be doing.
i hope this has helped and that u enjoy using this spread! pls lmk (if u want) if u do use it omfg i LOVE hearing from u guys and learning what worked for u/what didnât and the results u got!Â
happy midsummer/summer solstice/litha to all u magical folk out there - have a fab time of yrrrrr! x
Hi everyone! Here are some very EASY ways to celebrate midsummer!
Open up the curtains and let some good sunlight cleanse your room.
Open up the window.
Clean cobwebs from the ceiling and other places.
Go on a picnic!
Eat some berries.
Pick flowers.
Light a candle that reminds you of summer or of the sun.
Wear a floral print.
Make a honey and sugar face scrub.
Make a flower crown.
Garden, or water your plants.
Just sit in the sun, relax for once and soak in new beginnings :) -Freya
June 21st marks this yearâs Summer Solstice - the Sabbat known as Litha (or Midsummer)! If you celebrate the Wheel of the Year, Litha is one of the key points in the calendar: The summer solstice marks the Sunâs peak of power, and also marks the longest day in the year!
Litha, or, The Summer Solstice
Litha marks the longest day of the calendar year - the Summer Solstice - and is positioned at the bottom, Southernmost quarter point in the Wheel of Year. Traditionally, this is a great time to commune and connect with the Sun, do solar magic, and use the Sunâs peak power to spellcast, charge, and cleanse.
Colors:Â Red, orange, and other fiery, bold tones
Incense & Scents: Dragonâs blood, orange, musks (personal correspondences here - use your own for max results!)
Altar Setup: Find stones and crystals that have washed up on the summer shore, local flowers, seasonal fruits, and plenty of candles. A bonfire is traditional (a red candle is practical!)
The Litha Feast:Â What would a Sabbat be without a feast? Litha is a perfect time to eat outdoors (if possible!). Traditional foods include herbed breads and pastries (baked!), desserts and dishes with summer fruits (try berries, stone fruits, or citrus, depending on whatâs local to you!), cold cooked poultry for our omnivore witches, and flower or berry wines. More modern foods for Litha could include potato salads, dishes made with lavender or sorrel, peppery foods, or dandelion greens.
Litha Traditions:
Light a bonfire and jump over it (if itâs small enough!) to cleanse yourself of past ills.
Stay up on Midsummer Eve to wait for the rising sun.
Dispose of old amulets in the Litha fire.
Work magic with stone circles.
Make speeches to Fortuna, the lady of Fortune (is my Hellenic Revivalism showing?).
Phone past friends and invite them over.
Honor the Oak tree by paying one a visit in your local neighborhood.
Lead the way to your Litha celebration with a torchlit procession (or lantern or sparkler-lit, as it were!).
Magic for Litha: Healing, purification, cleansing, fire, protection, rebirth, power, sun magic, magic with stones and crystals, reaffirmations, and oaths.
Have at it, witches! (and link me to your Litha altars/plans/feasts! Iâm a sucker for peeking on all your aesthetics & magics :>)
Creating A Morning Ritual đ§đžââď¸âď¸
The Summer Solstice has finally come! We are officially halfway through the year. This energy is great for manifesting, expressing gratitude, and making changes in your life for the next few months. Now is the best time to create new morning rituals, to not only enhance your living but to enhance your magic as well! â¨
A morning ritual is anything you do to get your day started. In the witchy world, a morning ritual combines mundane tasks with everyday magic practice.
Sometimes the morning is the only time we get to practice magic, with our lives being so hectic and busy.Â
Your morning ritual can last anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour or more.
First figure out how much time you have to spare in the mornings. Do you have 9am classes or work really early in the morning? Set your alarm for 10-20min before you have to leave, and do your morning ritual then. Work overnight and only get the mornings to sleep? Set an alarm for early afternoon, the exact time doesnât matter. Mornings completely free? Set up I comfortable time to rise and you use as much time as youâd like.
The ritual should last as long as your activities do. If it takes you 20 minutes to do yoga and youâd like to include it in your routine, try to allot time for that. Which brings us to the next point:
Anything that you want to become habitual and/or anything youâre trying to improve at.
It takes 21+ days to create a habit, and 1,000 hours minimum to get good at something, so including these things in your morning ritual will help speed up that process.
A normal morning ritual consists of regular activities like: making tea/coffee, stretching, taking a shower etc. When youâre coming up with your list, make sure to include these tasks that youâre already used to doing. (this will be helpful in figuring out how much time you need, as well)
To spice up your morning ritual, try to turn those mundane tasks into something more magical. Then, consider which of your witchy practices require little energy and can start you up for the day.
Pulling tarot/oracle cards for the day
Showers/baths for cleansing đż
Smoke cleansing đ¨
Making tea/coffee with herbs corresponding to your intentions for the day (ie. rosemary before going to any classes/lectures) đľâď¸
Doing chakra meditation focused on a specific chakra â¤ď¸đ§Ąđđđđđ§đžââď¸
Sun Salutation Yoga âď¸
Creating a quick crystal grid
Going outside and walking barefoot, for grounding đąđż
Burn incense with scents/herbs corresponding to the dayâs intentions
Write out affirmations/intentions for the day in a notebook/journal
Dream journaling! â¨
Working on a page in your grimoire đ
Playing music and dancing around the house to stir up energy đđ˝đś
Lighting a candle on your altar or around your sacred space (bonus points for color based on intention) đŻ
Quick self-love/glamour magic đ
Etc. etc. etc.
Your list could include one, a few, all, or none of these things. Itâs all about what feels right for your individual practice. If you donât already know what you want to do, look into what other witches or spirituals in your belief do on a daily basis. For example, practitioner of Norse Mythology often work with runes, you could definitely include that in your morning ritual.
But most importantly your morning routine is your own. Make it what you want it to be. It can be as long or as short as youâd like, and as eccentric as you please. The most important part is that you enjoy what youâre doing, and you feel energized doing it.

đPicnic witchcraft guideđ
(Tiny strawberry pies, cranberry pistachio shortbreads, cardamom pear cake, ginger and fig tart, apricot coconut bites, and lavender tea bread)
đša botanical garden, floral garden, or any sort of garden (perfect for fae, floral, air, green, life, spring, and summer witchcraft)
âď¸a sunny open field/area (probably has wild flowers!, great for air, sun, floral, and weather witchcraft)
đâa night picnic under the stars and moon! (Perfect for lunar, nocturnal, and cosmic witchcraft)
đła park (great for all witchcraft, very versatile)
đđ§a beach, pond, lake or near any body of water (perfect for water, sea, and love witchcraft)
đťa cemetery (perfect for death, spirit, medium, and floral witchcraft. Just make sure itâs allowed and youâre respectful of graves)
đ˛A forest (perfect for forest, tree, nature, green, earth, and hedge witchcraft, hereâs some tree correspondences)
Stones/crystals to bring- it depends a lot on location and the general theme of the picnic! But a few favorites of mine are:
rose quartz, opalite, any aura quartz, sunstone, agate, tigers eye, and selenite (especially peach selenite)
Scents- I like to focus on scents a lot during picnics. It can make the experience so much more enjoyable! Location once again plays a huge role, but you can always spray your picnic blanket with essential oils, use strongly scented herbs or flowers, use a specific perfume, or even a specific tea that smells good. Some scents I like to focus on during picnics are:
lemon, orange, grapefruit, lemongrass, strawberry, orange blossom, gardenia, rose and lavender
Bring some little spells or offerings with you! A picnic in nature is the perfect time to do a little crafting, especially love, self care, fae, peace and happiness spells. And you can correspond your picnic with the intent of the spell!
Itâs also a great time for devotional offerings and any other offerings, especially fae offerings.
Put together a picnic spell- an entire picnic can be a spell! Everything from location, to drinks, to food, and the extra stuff you bring along can be in it.
đHave fun picnic witching! đ
YULE Altar ideas: Put mistletoe and pine on your altar; put a candle up there to represent the Sun; keep your Yule log on your altar; use symbols of the Sun; decorate with red, green, white, blue, and yellow (red and green for holly, white and blue for snow and wintery colors, yellow for the Sun). Celebration ideas: Kiss a consenting person under the mistletoe for luck; give gifts; have a feast; make magickal wreaths with herbs corresponding to the spell intent (you might use lilac, lavender, and camomile for a wreath that brings peace into your home).
IMBOLC Altar ideas: Use candles to represent the return of spring; make a cute little corn dolly; put a Brigidâs cross on there to honor her; decorate with yellow and green to represent the Sun and return of spring. Celebration ideas: Clean your house; have a self-dedication ritual (to a particular path, deity, philosophy, standard of life, etc.); clean off your working altar and redo it; cleanse and charge any tools or crystals you need to.
OSTARA Altar ideas: Use fake eggs, rabbits, and other symbols of fertility or spring; put some potted plants on the altar; place some packets of seeds you might be planning on growing; decorate with purple, yellow, green, white, and other spring, pastel colors. Celebration ideas: Paint and blow eggs (take proper precautions when handling raw eggs, obviously, especially if youâre putting your mouth on them); if you have a greenhouse, want a potted plant, or itâs warm enough where you live to plant outside, plant some seeds; buy a potted plant; organize your herb shelf.
BELTAINE Altar ideas: Make a mini Maypole for your centerpiece; smack some candles up in there, especially beeswax, if thatâs in your budget; put some faery symbols, like little statues or bells or something like that; a jar of honey or some beeswax is always dope; if youâre comfortable with it, some people like to put representations of genatalia on their altar. Celebration ideas: Light an awesome bonfire (also be very cautious with this because fire can quickly turn dangerous); leave offerings to the faeries; have a dance outside; this is a good time to plan to have a handfasting ceremony or wedding; cast any love workings youâve been meaning to do; if youâre an adult and have a person/people who consent to it, you could choose to have sex during this time (but do be safe!); many people try to conceive children during Beltaine.
LITHA Altar ideas: Symbols of the Sun and the Moon, feminine and masculine symbols if thatâs a thing in your tradition; decorate with black and white to symbolize the night and day. Celebration ideas: Get up before the Sun rises and go to sleep after it sets, so you can experience the day and night; have a bonfire (again, safety is important); have a picnic; just spend a lot of time outside.
LUGHNASADH Altar ideas: Put bread and grain on the altar; maybe some apples and other autumn fruits; pinecones and leaves are fall symbols; decorate with red, orange, yellow, brown, and other colors of the season. Celebration ideas: Bake (especially make the cute little bread men); give an offering to the Earth; go to an apple orchard and pick some apples; share a feast with the family or your friends.
MABON Altar ideas: Wine, or grape juice if alcohol is unavailable for any reason; leaves and pinecones; apples; a money jar (see first celebration suggestion below). Celebration ideas: For a week or two before Mabon, put money you can afford to give up in a jar, and donate it to charity or a cause you support on Mabon; have another apple harvest; have another feast; do a ritual to honor the Earth.
SAMHAIN Altar ideas: Pop a few gourds in there, more apples if you want; pictures of the deceased; tools for divination and spirit contact; decorate with black, white, and orange. Celebration ideas: Divination, spirit communication (obviously only if you know what youâre doing); hold a seance or a dumb supper if thatâs more comfortable for you; light a candle in the window for spirits (use a fake one if you want it lit all night); leave some milk and honey for the Fair Folk; give offerings to the dead; put up wards and shields if youâre one of the people who would prefer to avoid spirit activity.

A blot, is a ritual  sacrifice, to the gods, the wights, ancestors, alfr etc. Any of The Holy Powers. They are a way to communicate with them, to ask for intangible gifts and give them in return. âA gift for a gift as it must always be.â There is a debate as to whether or not the word âBlotâ is apprporiate for non blood sacrafices, many practionores will also use the term âFainingâ as an alternative if it is not a blood blot.

A storm is likely to come when:
deciduous trees flip their leaves due to wind direction
birds fly low in the sky, and go quiet
thereâs a southerly wind (in the US)
thereâs a red dawn in the east
layers of nimbus clouds move in opposite directions
the morning grass is dry of dew
an earthy scent rises from the soil and flowers
pine cones remain closed
a halo rings the moon at night
nights are warm in winter (cloud cover insulation)
smoke swirls and descends, instead of a steady rise
Remember, low pressure brings wet weather.

If there is something you would be willing to see in poetry form, send me an ask or drop me a message! As of 10/3/17, I am all out and no more are queued.Â
Starting out, witchcraft can seem overwhelming due to the vast amount of information out there. When I first began, I saw all these amazing witches on social media and was shunned by the same ones for asking questions they didnât want to answer. As a whole, the witch and pagan communities are welcoming and open. However, there are always those few that feel the need to spread hate instead of information for those witches that are just starting out. Witchcraft is just that, a craft. While my craft may not be exactly the same as yours, it does not make either one âbetterâ than the other. For those searching for information, I will list things I believe will help anyone starting out and looking for guidance.
Firstly, decide what kind of practitioner you want to be. Iâm not referring to your âtitleâ so much as figuring out which areas appease most to you. For myself, divination practices came naturally due to being a conduit, but the options are endless. Perhaps you love the beach, or cooking, or feel the pull of different dimensions and spirits. Your craft is meant to fit you, so explore the areas that call to you the most.
Secondly, read and read some more. In my opinion, knowledge is power. The better informed you are, the better you can adapt your craft to fit you. I recommend any book by Scott Cunningham or Arin Murphy-Hiscock for beginners. Their books are packed full of easy to comprehend information. They are good books to see what resonates with you.
Most importantly, DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED. Just as with any other craft, it can take time to build up all the tools that you need/want. Get what you can, when you can, and the rest will come with time. You are your most important tool. Your intention and state of mind shape your reality, and witchcraft is nothing more than harnessing the abilities that lay dormant within you. Your tools simply amplify your intentions.
Lastly, welcome to the family. You will never be alone again because you are now part of an ancient, tight-knit community. We make mistakes and we learn together. Additionally, La Morte XIII understands how difficult and overwhelming it can be, so reach out anytime on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or Tumblr. Let us know if you have a specific question or would like us to do a post pertaining to a topic you are learning.
Blessings to you all, SoloVVitch

HOUSE TO HOME
-a hearthwitch spell to make your house or apartment feel cozy, happy and loving, like a real home
1. Fill a bowl with water and bless it, focusing on the intent of your spell.
2. Add pink salt to encourage friendship and love in your family and friends whenever they enter your walls.
3. Add Oregano to instill health and wellness for all who live here.
4. Add Thyme to create feelings of closeness, coziness and happiness, ie. home.
5. Add rosemary for cleansing and protection.
6. Stir the bowl with your finger three times and chant
âWith company or all alone
Make this house a loving homeâ
7. Dip your broom into the bowl and flick the water in each corner of every room in the house. At every corner, say the incantation again.
8. When finished, thank your tools and dispose of the water.
I made this spell after moving into my new husbandsâs apartment. It had never truly been a home before. More of a place to eat and sleep when my husband wasnât busy working. And after moving all my things in and cleaning, I just still wasnât feeling. It felt odd and cold. Not like a home at all. So I wrote this spell and performed it, and the dynamics of our apartment instantly changed. It feels warm now. Warm and happy and cozy, and my husband and I look forward to when we get to spend time there together.
Sometimes, we may think that our magick is invalid, or that our deities donât want to work with us anymore when we have depression. Altars get dusty, the air gets stale, and maybe you have quit working with magick all together, but still identify as a practicing witch.
Depression is an illness. If a professional runner fractured a leg, how could they continue to run while going through recovery? Â Can a witch continue to do mental work if their mental health is suffering? Think about it: witches are constantly using their brain to get themselves in a highly spiritual and magickal state. You cannot expect yourself to want to work with magick if getting out of bed is difficult on its own.
Understand that your deities are forgiving and understanding beings. Your magick will not dwindle. In fact, when you are sick, your deities and spirit guides will protect you and make sure nothing bad happens to you while you are sick. Donât feel guilty for your depression. Depression is an illness, not a lack of dedication or general carelessness. I am going to give you advice on what kinds of spiritual work you can do while in a depressive episode.
Candle magick đŻ
đŽ Light a candle of your choice that symbolizes whatever you want to manifest (i.e yellow = confidence)
Aromatherapy đ§ź
đŽ Different essential oils promote all different kinds of things. Lemon is uplifting and happy, while lavender is calming and promotes sleep.
Healing crystals đ
đŽ All you need to do is set the intention. You can keep crystals by your bed, or you can set them up in a specific way for a spell or intention.
Chanting đŁ
đŽ You donât need to get up for this one! You can even chant in your head.
Sleep meditation đ¤
đŽ Sleep meditations are wonderful because of all of the insight you can get from intense dreaming. YouTube has great sleep meditation music.
Guided meditation đ§đťââď¸ đ đ§đźââď¸
đŽ This can be done in the bed as well. There are meditations on akashic records, spirit guides, past lives, you name it.
Be safe and know that it is okay to feel depressed sometimes. Make sure to get professional help if possible to help if these depressive episodes are chronic or prolonged. Know that the world loves you. Your deities love you. I love you. We love you.
I had to scrape frost off my car today. You know what that means?!
Thereâs nothing like a topped-off mug of mead to cheer the heart and magically induce goodwill in your guests. I can personally attest to the lack of familial holiday drama this cup of godly deliciousness provides!
Time to stock up on muh mulling spices because mulled is the *ONLY* way to have mead. Get yoâ cookbooks out to take notes, Iâm about to lay some kitchen witchery on you!
âCrock pots are the modern cauldron,â as my mum likes to say. They are perfect for keeping any hot drinks at optimal serving temperature. I recommend a âlowâ setting. If youâre in a pinch for time, using a saucepan is fine. If you do have to do this stove-top style, be sure to keep an eye on it as you do not want it to boil.
Of course, homemade mead is great if you can swing it. Unfortunately, we canât all keep fermenting jugs in our closets. Store bought mead is fine (I like to use Chaucerâs brand). HOWEVER, thou shalt not use carbonated mead, neither shalt thou use any mead containing food dyes. And the number of dyes in thine mead shall be zero.
In the cauldron of your choosing, you will pour your mead (assume one 24-26 oz bottle for four moderate servings), and the following spices:
- 2 or 3 cinnamon sticks
- 1 Tbsp coarse ground allspice
- ½ Tbsp nutmeg
- 2-4 tsp fresh ginger (feel free to modify to your liking)
You may use a mulling filter bag or go without.Â
If you are doing this on a stove-top, allow your winter potion to simmer for at around 15 minutes before adding a little extra honey and serving. Adding honey to the crockpot will require an extra stir, as you donât want it to settle at the bottom before dissolving.
You can try adding fruit like orange slices, plums or apples. Have fun with it!Â
I first made my own herbal chai blend after reading about it in @thymeherbal The Herbal Homestead Journal, which is still one of my favorite herbal references. I love this blend so much around this time of year, especially as someone who doesnât drink caffeine. I didnât put rations on this one since everyone likes theirs a bit different, but this is how I roughly make mine:Â
â˘1:1:1 burdock, dandelion root (which I prefer roasted), and saspirilla root. This ends up being around 3Â
â˘6 tablespoons each for me
â˘1-2 tablespoons peppercorns, orange peel, cloves, crushed cardamom pods, and anything else your adding to the mixÂ
â˘2 crushed cinnamon sticksÂ
â˘1 tsp fresh ginger and turmeric to each cupÂ
